Notes :

The Danny Boys were Karen Hall (lead vocals), Craig Ferguson (guitar & vocals), Mick Burton (lead guitar), John Ray (bass) and Vinny Carroll (drums). Formed in the mid 80's they played a distinct melodic pop reminiscent of the sounds of The Byrds and Postcard acts like Orange Juice and Aztec Camera. Based in Manchester they were a staple part of the pre baggy Manchester guitar scene. Toured with The Railway Children and released a single on Ugly Man Records - Days of the Week.

 

In 1988 they disbanded with Craig and Vinny went on to form Raintree County, a similarly melodic and charming band.

Obscure and hard to find 3 CD compilation album from Manchester indie pop rock band Raintree County, including 1990 mini album ''Seven Day Weekend'', album ''Roadsongs'' from 1991, unreleased demos, live recordings and radio sessions.

After long time, one of the records from my Wanted Records list, arrived on the blog. I hope there will be many more in the future. I need any help to find and collect these hard to find records, check my lists and contact me if you have anything.

Notes :
Raintree County were formed in Manchester in 1988 by Craig Ferguson (vocals and guitar) and Vinnie Carroll (drums), with Ian Scanlan and Michael Peek. Their song 'Nice Time At The Disco' was included on the influential Bop Cassettes/City Limits compilation "Manchester, North Of England" the same year. In 1990 they released an EP called "Seven Day Weekend" and a 12" single entitled "Take", and in 1991 an album, 'Roadsongs'.

Track ''Take'' on this mini album, mixed and recorded by Graham Massey from 808 State.
