Psychedelic indie rock band from Nottingham, England.

Sean Cook, Jon Mattock and Mike Mooney were members of Spiritualized until that group's leader Jason Pierce dissolved the lineup in 1999. The trio quickly decided to form a new band. They kept the spaced-out psychedelic soul sound of their previous incarnation, but blended it with old American soul and a '60s garage sound. The group released two albums and a handful of singles before disbanding in 2002.

''Whether intentionally or not, this sounds like the heroin user's music of choice: comfortably numbing, pulsing layers of fuzzy/distorted guitars, electronic rhythms, throbbing bass, and exotic touches of theremin and oscillation. Pete Bassman/Bain adds some vocals in a half-spoken, half-sung style that's vaguely reminiscent of a very subdued Iggy Pop. Those who appreciate intricately constructed songs will lose interest pretty quickly. Fans of the album, though, will be quick to note that it's precisely the point of the record to deconstruct conventional song forms in favor of mantra-like grooves and atmosphere''

Beautiful Happiness was early 90's UK indie band from Lemington Spa. The band was formed by Wil (pre-Adorable), who subsequently got kicked out of Beautiful Happiness.
They were signed to Cheree Records and released two singles.

Mark Refoy formed Slipstream after leaving Spiritualized in 1994. The original line-up was Ian Anderson on guitar, Gary Lennon on bass and Steve Beswick on drums. Jonny Mattock joined later after also leaving Spiritualized.

''Side Effects'' is compilation of singles and B-sides.
Track 8 is a cover of a track by Kraftwerk and is uncredited on this release (it is however credited on the original Slipstream single).
Tracks 15b and 15c are hidden bonus tracks.

1990 Situation Two

The Darkside was originally formed by guitarist & vocalist Nick Hayden who had previously played drums for Spacemen 3. The band formed in the Spacemen’s hometown of Rugby. Hayden then asked Pete Bain (AKA Bassman), who had left Spacemen 3 just before their 1989 LP Playing With Fire, to join the band. Bain was then joined in the new outfit by his former bandmate, drummer Sterling Roswell (AKA Rosco).

The group debuted in 1990 with the E.P. ‘Highrise Love’ and a UK tour followed but shortly before a gig at Oxford’s Jericho Tavern, Hayden left the band and decided to stay in Oxford where he started a new band called Flite 118 which played many of the songs he had written for The Darkside. Hayden’s departure forced Bain to take over on vocals. The group were signed to Beggars Banquet Records offshoot Situation Two throughout their existence.

The Darkside released an LP, All That Noise. With Rosco moving to keyboards, the group recruited Craig Wagstaff, whom they had known while in Spacemen 3. The Melomania LP then followed in 1992. With the departure of guitarist Kevin Cowen following the LP’s release, Bain then assumed guitar duties for the EP Mayhem to Meditate. When Situation Two rejected the demos cut for a third LP, the band disintegrated.
