Rubber Orange - Rubber Orange EP

RUBBER ORANGE
Rubber Orange EP
1991 Zest Communications

Notes:
Amazing single from obscure early 90's Manchester indie band Rubber Orange. Band was formed by the members of late 80's indie band The Jerks. They released one single ''Rubber Orange EP'' on their own label Zest Communications.
Band members were Lee 'Drany' Dransfield (guitar), Warren Wrigley (bass), Andy Price (drums), David Gill (keyboards) and Lee Severin (vocals) who came from another great Manchester band called Too Much Texas. One of the members of Too Much Texas was Tom Hingley from Inspiral Carpets.
After Rubber Orange, Lee Severin formed britpop band Jubilee and released two singles on Silvertone Records.

Rubber Orange - Demo Tape '91

RUBBER ORANGE
Demo Tape '91
1991 Zest Communications

Notes:
Rubber Orange were Lee Severin – Vocals, Lyrics, Lee Dransfield – Guitars, Warren Wrigley – Bass, Andy – Drums, David (Dids) Gill – Keys. Formed from the debris of The Jerks, Rubber Orange brought in a new front-man, Lee Severin, and toured extensively throughout the early 1990s. Hailing from Oldham (though singer Lee was a Londoner), they recorded on their own Zest label, and released the Rubber Orange EP in 1991. The release was initially given a harsh review in NME, only to be more favourably reassessed when it was discovered that critic, Barbara Ellen had played the record at the wrong speed. The band split in the mid nineties with Severin going on to form Jubilee who were signed to Silvertone Records. The remaining members continued to play and record together up and until the late 90's.
