For me, one of the most anticipated albums in the last few years was ''Duke Street'', unreleased album from late 80's Dublin indie rock band Guernica. They released three great 12'' singles ''Orange And Red'', ''Deep Sea Diving'' and ''Humming Of The Engine'', all previously posted on the blog. Before few years i've read somewhere that band recorded album titled ''Duke Street'' in 1988 and that band members planning to release it.

Finally, waiting is over, ''Auditorium'' is amazing collection of tracks from their 3 singles, Duke Street album and unreleased tracks and demos.

First half of the album is compilation from their three 12'' singles & unreleased tracks.

Second half features recordings from their unreleased LP from 1988.

Notes :

The Danny Boys were Karen Hall (lead vocals), Craig Ferguson (guitar & vocals), Mick Burton (lead guitar), John Ray (bass) and Vinny Carroll (drums). Formed in the mid 80's they played a distinct melodic pop reminiscent of the sounds of The Byrds and Postcard acts like Orange Juice and Aztec Camera. Based in Manchester they were a staple part of the pre baggy Manchester guitar scene. Toured with The Railway Children and released a single on Ugly Man Records - Days of the Week.

 

In 1988 they disbanded with Craig and Vinny went on to form Raintree County, a similarly melodic and charming band.

Guernica was an Irish indie rock band active from 1985 since 1989. Guernica took a heavy New Order/Joy Division influence and mixed it with indie/C86/jangle-pop sounds.

They released three singles: Deep Sea Diving (1987), Orange And Red EP (1987) and Humming Of The Engine EP (1988).

Debut album titled ''Duke Street'' was recorded in 1989, but it was never officially released.

I've heard some news that this album finally will be released in the next few months. Great news for the fans of this fantastic band, including me. There is no official release date, i hope it will be by the end of the year. If i receive any info, you will be updated.

Indie rock band formed in Bradford, England, in 1983, the band were active until 1988. They released 4 singles and an LP before splitting. They also recorded 3 sessions for BBC Radio 1, two for the John Peel Show (1985 & 86) and one for the Janice Long Show (1987). 

Band members were: Martin Sadofski (vocals), Peter Richardson (guitar) later replaced by Brian E. Roberts, Howard Taylor (bass), Adrian Lee (drums) later replaced by Robert Grace.

After The Passmore Sisters, Brian E. Roberts and Howard Taylor joined The Hollow Men.

Band members were: Lee Clarke (vocals & guitar), Steve Mason (guitar), John Mason (bass) and Matt James (drums).

 

In 1989 band members formed great baggy band Sp!n and released one album ''In Motion'' in 1991 and three singles: Scratches (In The Sand), Hot Blood EP and Let's Pretend.

UK indie pop rock band, formed in Basingstoke (Hampshire, England) in the late 1980's.

The Jeremiahs released one four track EP (Driving into the Sun) and split up. Jangly guitars and haunting vocals.

Band members were : Simon Ashby (vocals), John Mitchell (guitar), Robert S (bass) and Ben Mitchell (drums).

After The Jeremiahs, vocalist Simon Ashby formed baggy band This Gigantic World and released two singles ''Hoover Bag / Raft'' and ''Swagger''. Both singles are on my most wanted records list, if anyone can help, will be great.
