day 7

 For today I switched from brooch to necklace.
I used this fun technique I learned
again from Judit Pócs :
to capture a coffee capsule inside the felt.
It gives an elegant, one-of-a-kind jewel !

stitched with many seed beads and bigger ones,
on a metal necklace
but it can be on a long cord too !

quiet (but busy)

 It has been quiet here on my blog.
That happens sometimes
(especially after my busy Pinktober month !!!)
But I can say that I wasn't idling my days away !
(although I did a lot of reading)

There was another "(Un)perfect 10 gram" meeting at the end of November
We had to work in black
and the motto was "facing black"
with a bit of sparkle, or lights.
I must say I have no problems with that colour
(I'm often wearing it)

Like always we had a fun meeting 
with lots of inventive products.
I made a black "Möbius" ring
but still have to make a little video to see it best.

In November we also had a new Stitch Club workshop that I took part in : stitching on metal
but
I only did a try out on paper
(and skipped the metal in the end)

Then I was busy making our Xmas/New Year cards for this year.

COLOUR AND GLITTER !

(and I made some presents BUT those are still a secret !)

Then, after we had a fun party celebrating the Dutch "Sint Nicolaas",
I could start with a brand new Stitch Club workshop
by Tina Marais

Because my hands are not in the best shape at the moment
I wanted to make something small first.
(so I had 8 cm to work on instead of the suggested 40 !)

The imagined "seed pod" I made from (poly) felt
and some plastic beads.

But this left me wanting more   :-)

and I took the original idea, though still working "micro" !

One down, one to go

When the "further development" came for something wearable
(which I did already . . .)
my choice went to

felt
(and my own design)
 

Nearly finished

And with lots of seed beads stitched on I have now a lovely set that goes together

I must start (wet) felting again very soon
because I've almost run out of "starters".
So with the help of my stash industrial felt
I was able to save the day !
(I use the 100% woolen felt, the poly isn't so nice to work with)

day 30

Because the clock went back to "winter-time" yesterday
we've plunged into darker times :
taking pictures outside isn't possible anymore
when I've finished stitching.
Making the last parts for a necklace
is always a bit more time consuming than you should think.
So again pictures taken with artificial light.
I hope it shows enough
of the delicate pastel colours of this jewel.

When I was finished stitching today
it was already too dark
(and besides : a huge shower with thunder started)

day 24

Many people often ask
if I work ahead and plan my jewels . . .
but NO

Of course I have to plan my wet felting
because otherwise they are too wet to stitch !
But when I'm using ready-made woolen felt
I let myself be guided mostly by the colours of the felt
but more often by the colours of the threads.
I have a big stash with "normal" DMC stranded cotton,
but also various linen and silk threads
(in the solid or variegated version)
Snippets of mesh or tulle and seed beads are inspiration too.
Today's jewel was created this way :
all the greens reminded me of ferns in a shady garden.

AND : fortunately our computer-wizard had time for me today
and though he didn't have a clue either what went wrong
he made it all work again !!!

day 4

Apart from making felt myself
I also love my stash of industrial woolen felt,
such nice colours to choose from !

I found a piece of a lovely petrol colour
and after stitching a heart shape with silk, cotton and beads
I discovered a snippet of fabric
that went with the colour of the front so well . . .
Then choosing threads for the cord
and outside in the garden to take pictures
(Hmmmm : it DIDN'T all happen as fast as I write it down here !)
