Are you here for the second installment of Start Your Own? Well, I am too. Sadly, I did not receive text or photos from my guest blogger so we'll have to resume next week. Its too bad because the guest blogger has a great online shop, so I would love to learn from her. Maybe some time in the future.
Let's move on, shall we?
This past weekend I had the glorious opportunity to attend the Electric Picnic in Stradbally, Co Laois. Needless to say I had a fabulous time. I could go on and tell you how great Arcade Fire and Pulp were as headliners, what a lovely surprise Santigold and White Lies were and how funny Bob Geldof looks dancing, but I'll save that for another post. (I do wish you could see us dancing around like nutters at the back of the Pulp show. It was brilliant.)
What I really want to tell you about is the Green Craft Village at the center of the picnic. In this lovely area you could find tents or stands where you could learn a new skill. They had a wood turner, blacksmith, copper smith, potter...and on and on who were willing to teach you. In the WAY back corner there was a tee pee where you could make a little flower brooch. I had to jump in!
Hosted by Stitch Lilly from Co Kerry, I made this little cutie from 4 circles of cotton fabric, 4 circles of tulle and a button. Although the colors do not scream me, I am pretty happy with the result.
She also had these beauties on sale. I would absolutely LOVE to learn how to make one like this. I'll work on it.Finally, you know how you find weird quilty inspiration in odd locations? Well, I found the color scheme to my Sew Bee Blissful month (which is WAY in the future) in the wrist band. It's so pretty! Have to pull out that Kona card this weekend, ladies.
