Stencilgirl® October 2018 Project

I’m still making more art cards for the #365somethings2018 undertaking. The idea is to make something creative every day of this 2018 year. I have chosen to make 3 x 3” art cards and I’m having so much fun with them. It is very surprising to discover just how many ways there are to art on such a small surface. Here is another set of 9 cards and the good thing is there is a full step-by-step tutorial for these on the Stencilgirl® Talk website as there has been before. I even refer back to my own tutorials when I’m making cards! The cards themselves are going to be uploaded to my Instagram account in the near future, so you can see them there in detail.

Here are some tasters:

High Flyer

Online challenges sometimes spark off new ideas which is why I like participating. Some time ago one of the prompts was to use colours you don't usually apply in your work. For me they tend to be the dark ones. However once I had made a spread for that particular challenge I realized that I loved the result so I thought I would share a spread done in such colours today, in my capacity as monthly Guest Designer for Stencilgirl Products. As always it is such a pleasure to be asked and I loved putting this spread together.
Occasionally it is hard to think up new ideas and at other times such as for this spread I just start and see where it gets me. The start here were the colours and a piece of treasured wrapping paper which just seemed to good to use for wrapping. It featured those gorgeous birds as well as geometrical patterns.

Towards the end I simply opened a magazine to find some suitable text and the words High Flyer were there right on the first page I opened. What a treat.
You can find a full step-by-step tutorial including a list of all the stencils I used (quite a few!) on the Stencilgirl Talk website today. This is the only online place where I share such instructions so I invite you to take a look. You should do so anyway as this website is full of entirely free tutorials on how to use stencils in all kinds of wonderfully inventive ways.

The Final Artmarks

You may remember that I participated in the #artmarks30daychallenge on Instagram recently. When that was finished I was left with 2 empty pages in the little journal I used for the challenge. Before putting it away I wanted to fill those pages and here they are.
I followed no particular prompt but stayed with adding lots of marks as you can see above. This challenge has definitely been good practice for me.
I used many techniques with stencilling being the most prominent one. All the stencils I used came from Stencilgirl Products.
This is the notebook/journal I used. It's by Clairefontaine, one of my most favourite notebooks suppliers, based in France, although their products are easily found all over the world. This one is sized 9 x 14cm. The plan was to paint the outside but I love the messy result of all that mark making and painting so I'm keeping it just like it is.

At some stage, hopefully soon, I'll do a flip through of the entire journal and post it on Instagram, so keep an eye out for that. You can follow me here.
