Zomtober 2013 - Week 4

Ciao a tutti,
questa settimana si conclude lo Zombtobre, anche se la mia produzione non è minimamente paragonabile a quella degli altri partecipanti a questa simpatica iniziativa, devo dire di essere soddisfatto del fatto di aver grosso modo rispettato (escludendo il ritardo iniziale) le scadenze.

Hi everyone,

this week ends Zombtober, even though my production is not remotely comparable to that of the other participants to this nice initiative, I must say I'm pleased with the fact that I roughly respected (excluding the initial delay) the one miniature per week objective.

Danish Zombie..

Questa settimana ho deciso di completare uno degli Zombi di Zombicide gentilmente donato da Lord Siwoc in ringraziamento per alcune miniature che avevo dipinto per lui...  Johnny doveva inviarmene solo tre ed invece è stata una piacevolissima sorpresa scoprire che il mio Danese preferito mi aveva spedito una copia di tutti gli Zombie del gioco base... :)

This week I decided to complete one of the Zombicide Zombies kindly donated by Lord Siwoc in gratitude for some miniatures that I painted for him ... Johnny had to send me only three of them, and instead I had the pleasant surprise to discover that my favorite Danish guy had kindly sent me a copy of all of the Zombies of the basic game ... :)

Zomtober 2013 - Week 2

Ciao a tutti,
anche questa settimana ho rischiato di bucare la scadenza della Domenica... In extremis, quindi, ecco a voi la mia Zombie Crawler (Zombie strisciante).
Devo confessare che la miniatura della Wargames factory era in realtà una scusa per modificare e dipingere la cassetta postale che ho riciclato da questo clix. Essendo il modello un pezzo unico, ho scavato con il taglierino la parte inferiore per ottenere le zampe della cassetta.

Hi boys and girls,
I risked to miss the Sunday deadline this week too but, at the last minute, here is my Zombie Crawler.
I must confess that this wargames factory miniature was actually an excuse to modify and paint the mailbox that I recycled from this clix. Being the mailbox model a one piece lump of plastic, I carved with my cutter the lower part to do the box legs.

ultimamente devo dire di essere stato abbastanza prolifico anche se non ho completato tutti i modelli che mi ero prefissato. 

Avevo anche scritto un lungo post che raccontava gli avvenimenti dela mia partita ad ATZ... beh, il post è andato perduto e, onestamente, non mi sento particolarmente propenso a riscrivere tutto... Magari tra qualche giorno!! ;)

Per farmi perdonare, volevo condividere con voi un piccolo esperimento modellistico.. Come sapete, ho a disposizione una quantità non indifferente di zombi in plastica della Studio Miniatures (SM) oltre che ad alcuni vecchi modelli della Wargames Factory (WF). Ho quindi deciso di provare ad unire un busto della WF con delle gambe ed una testa calva della SM. Sfoderata la mia fidata materia verde, ho cercato di scolpire dettagli sul modello in modo da riprodurre il meglio possibile l'uniforme da vice sceriffo.

Hello to all,
lately I must say I was quite prolific even if I have not completed all the models that I wanted to.
I also wrote a long post that recounted the events of my ATZ game... Well, the post has been lost and, honestly, I do not feel particularly inclined to rewrite everything ... Maybe in a few days! ;)

To forgive me, I wanted to share with you a little modeling experiment.. As you know, I have a considerable amount of Studio Miniatures (SM) plastic zombies as well as some older models from Wargames Factory (WF) available. I then decided to try to join a WF torso with the legs and a bald head from SM. Armed with my trusty green stuff, I tried to sculpt details on the model in order to reproduce as well as possible a deputy sheriff uniform. 

(A lot) beyond the call of duty....

Devo confessare che il dettaglio che mi soddisfa di più è la camicia strappata sotto l'ascella destra, mi rendo conto che sia un dettaglio insignificante ma mi piace molto... ;)

I must confess that my preferred detail is the shredded shirt under the right arm, I know it's a really insignificant detail but I really like it very much...

ATZ, a battle report - Intro

Ciao a tutti,
approfittando della pazienza della mia mogliettina, Domenica scorsa ho provato ad allestire una partita di prova ad ATZ, non volendo ancora iniziare la mia campagna vera e propria, ho provato a giocare un Flashback del gruppo di sopravvissuti che avevo inaugurato a Progetto Z parecchio tempo fa.
Avrei voluto fare un report più dettagliato ma, purtroppo, la mia macchinetta fotografica mi ha abbandonato a metà partita, quindi, temo che dovrete accontentarvi di un Report piuttosto narrativo... ;)

Ad essere sinceri, devo confessare di aver fatto un grosso errore di valutazione nel scegliere di giocare la mia prima vera partita in solitaria in ambiente urbano, qualunque azione facessero i miei protagonisti attirava orde intere di Zombie, non il miglior modo di imparare le regole ad essere onesti e sono sicuro di aver fatto decine di errori.

Hi Boys and Girls,
taking advantage of the patience of my wife, last Sunday I tried to set up an ATZ test match, unwilling to begin my "real" campaign, I tried to play a flashback for the group of survivors I first used in Project Z a long time ago.
I wanted to do a more detailed report but, unfortunately, my camera abandoned me middle game, I'm then afraid you'll have to settle for a fairly narrative report instead... ;)
 
To be honest, I have to confess that I made ​​a big error of judgment in choosing to play my first real solitary  ATZ game in an urban environment, any action did by my characters attracted whole hordes of Zombies, not the best way to learn the rules and I'm sure I've made dozens of errors.

Initial Layout

L’idea alla base di questa partita era quella di mettere insieme Emanuelle e Dale, prima del loro incontro con Kurt, alla ricerca di un veicolo adatto. I due ragazzi, imbottigliati dietro ad un autobus incidentato e diversi veicoli abbandonati, poiché la strada è completamente bloccata, si ritrovano costretti ad abbandonare la loro moto e proseguire a piedi alla ricerca di un altro veicolo (Il camper nel piazzale a sinistra).

Emanuelle: Rep 4 Civilian star, Pep 2, Sav 3 – Agile e Brawler (entrambi tirati casualmente) Pistol;

Dale: Rep 4 Civilian star, Pep 3, Sav 2 – Free Spirit (tirato casualmente) Big-Ass Pistol

The idea behind this game was to put together Emanuelle and Dale, before their meeting with Kurt, looking for a suitable vehicle. The two teenagers, bottled up behind a crashed bus and several abandoned vehicles, since the road is completely blocked, they find themselves forced to abandon their motorcycles and walk in search of another vehicle (The RV in the yard on the left).
Emanuelle: Civilian Rep 4 star, Pep 2, Sav 3 - Agile and Brawler (both rolled randomly) Pistol;
Dale: Civilian Rep 4 star, Pep 3, Sav 2 - Free Spirit (randomly rolled) Big-Ass Pistol

Per strada gira brutta gente! - Ugly people in this town!

Studio Miniatures plastic Zombie!!! Almeno uno è fatto...

Dopo una lunga attesa nella quale mi sono dedicato ad altri progetti, ho finalmente trovato il tempo di dipingere l'unico Zombie in plastica della Studio miniatures che avevo assemblato..
Essendo il primo di una lunga serie ho deciso di dedicarmici con un pizzico di attenzione in più senza dimenticare che mi stavo comunque dedicando ad uno zombie! ;)

After a long pause , I've finally decided to find the time to paint the lone Studio miniatures plastic zombie I've already assembled..
Since this will be the first of a long serie, I've decided to dedicate him a little more attention without forgetting that I'm about to paint a Zombie! ;)

Devo dire di essere soddisfatto, il modello si pulisce senza sforzo e rapidamente, anche se i dettagli non sono molto marcati, la qualità è eccellente.... Ora altri 79!!!
Spero che il modello vi piaccia, come al solito i vostri commenti e consigli sono graditissimi...

I must say I'm satisfied, the miniature was rapidly and easily cleaned, even if the details aren't really "sharp", the quality of the model is excellent... Now I've got 79 more to do!!!

Zombie jogger

Con la scusa di avere alcune ore di tempo libero in più, sto dedicando tutta la mia attenzione modellistica nel rimpolpare le fila delle schiere non morte per Progetto Z.

Volendo ottenere una Jogger che fosse vestita in maniera leggermente diversa da quella che avevo completato la settimana scorsa, mi sono armato di materia verde e ProCreate ed ho provveduto a vestire la mia sportiva non morta. 

Devo dire di aver lungamente esitato se coprire o meno la ferita sulla coscia destra per poi optare ad un diplomatico pantalone strappato, spero di aver ottenuto un effetto sufficientemente realistico.

With the excuse  of a couple of spare hours for the hobby, I'm dedicating my attention in trying to expand my zombie horde for Progetto Z ( well 3 zombies are not really a horde but you need to start somewhere!).

Wanting to do a zombie jogger dressed differently than the one I've completed last week, I've dressed my sporty zombie girl with Green Stuff and proCreate.

I've hesitated a lot before to complete her right thigh not knowing if I should have filled the wound. In the end I've settled for a "diplomatic" teared pant, I just hope I've realised it in a convenient way.

Una volta catalizzato lo stucco, mi sono dedicato alla pittura ed ho impiegato un 3 ore circa per completare il tutto. In realtà ho approfittato di questo modello per dipingere la pelle di altri 3 non morti che ho ancora in cantiere....

Once the Greenstuff completely cured, I've painted this model in roughly 3 hours taking the opportunity to paint the flesh of 3 other undeads I'm working on....

Shambling joggers

Come potete vedere, credo di aver ottenuto un effetto generale decente se confrontato al modello originale, l'importante però è fare pratica, arriverà il giorno in cui riuscirò a scolpirmi i modelli da solo..... spero!! ;)

As you can see, I think I've obtained a decent general effect  even if compared with the original model but the really important thing for me is to practice my sculpting skills, one day I would like to be able to sculpt my models myself..... I hope so at least!! ;)

Questo posto è un mortorio... - Parte 1

Ciao a tutti, 

mentre rimango in attesa che vengano chiuse le votazioni per il "Chest of colors Arena contest", ho portato avanti la pittura del Vicesceriffo che sarà affiancato al fido Jupiter Charles. "Purtroppo", come accade molto spesso a noi modellisti/wargamer, è successo qualcosa che ha alterato leggermente le mie priorità pittoriche. 

Avendo finalmente ricevuto alcune Zombie vixens della Wargames Factory ed essendomi anche reso conto di non avere neanche uno zombie "da gioco", ho deciso di fare un paio di prove e vedere se la qualità WF fosse effettivamente migliorata.

Hi Guys,

as I'm waiting for the end of the "Chest of colors Arena contest", I've continued to paint the Deputy Sheriff that will be Jupiter Charles partner. "Unfortunately", as we modeller/wargamers are used to, something happened that slightly sidetracked my painting priorities. 

I've received some Wargames Factory Zombie vixens from a bits shop and, since I don't have any zombie for gaming, I've decided to try to assemble a couple of them and see if WF quality really improved.

A couple of Zombie vixens with a Reaper zombie stripper... Girl power!

Preso da malsano entusiasmo, ho assemblato 2 walkers ed un crawler ai quali ho affiancato una spogliarellista della Reaper così da poter fare un effettivo confronto.

Devo dire di essere stato abbastanza veloce, in un paio di serate ho completato le 4 miniature ( diciamo 3 e 1/2..) compreso le basette, non male direi...

Moved by my enthusiasm, I've assembled 2 walkers and a crawler and I've even decided to paint a Reaper zombie stripper so I could confront the quality of the different models.

I must say I was fairly quick, in a couple of evenings I've managed to complete the 4 models (I should say 3 and 1/2...), base included, not bad I dare to say..

 

Devo dire di essere rimasto abbastanza soddisfatto, anche se le miniature della WF continuano ad avere dei dettagli molto leggeri, quindi non adatti ad una pittura approssimativa e "spessa", devo dire che, se si prende il tempo di diluire correttamente i colori, si possono ottenere dei modelli che nulla hanno da invidiare ad altre ditte più blasonate.

I must say that I am satisfied, the WF miniatures still suffer from "soft" details but it's sufficient to thin your paint to allow a good coverage without clogging the details and those models can come out quite nicely.

L'unico vero appunto che mi sento di fare, come già notato in passato da Zerloon nella sua recensione dei maschietti, la scelta dei componenti veramente adatti ad ogni posa non è del tutto libera, a meno che non si voglia ottenere qualche posa diciamo "pittoresca"...

One thing that must be kept in mind tought,  as already noted by Zerloon in his review of the male zombies, not all the bits work well with each pose or you risk to obtain some really "odd" models....

The Clinic - Staff needed.. (Or my first zombie) - Parte 2

Ciao a tutti,
erano due giorni che non riuscivo a decidermi, dovevo iniziare o meno la pittura della Guardia giurata zombie che avevo modificato la settimana scorsa o dovevo cercare di eliminare il fastidioso grembiulino fantasy come mi aveva suggerito Sunzi? Alla fine sono stato colto dall'ispirazione, mentre frugavo fra gli scarti delle fallite conversioni da clix e miniature Starwars (mi piace pensarle in stand-by... ;P ), mi sono imbattuto nelle gambe dell' Antarian Ranger della serie Jedi Academy. Essendo queste molto piegate in avanti (ragion per cui non le potevo usare) ho provato ad adattarle al busto dello zombie che avevo modificato e PERFETTE!!! Sono rimasto sbalordito dall'effetto e questo mi ha spinto a mettermi subito al lavoro, tirato fuori lo stucco ho perfezionato la modifica ed ho iniziato subito la pittura...

Hi everyone,
in the last two days I could not decide, whether or not, I should start painting the zombie security guard I had converted last week. I wasn't sure if I had to try to eliminate the annoying "fantasy style" apron as Sunzi had suggested.
Eventually, inspiration caught me.
While rummaging through scraps and bits of failed (I like to think of them as on stand-by ... ;P) Starwars and clix conversions, I came across the legs of the Jedi Academy Antarian Ranger. As these are leaned forward very much (which is why I could not use them before), I tried to fit the bust of my modified zombie and PERFECT! I was amazed by the effect and this has prompted me to get straight to work... Took my Green stuff and improved the conversion and I immediately started to paint...

AaaaaaAAAaaargghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Non so cosa ne pensate voi ma devo dire che la posa bella curva si addice alquanto al nonmorto in cerca di preda....

Painting almost done

Questo è il primo zombie in assoluto che provo a dipingere e devo dire che ero abbastanza preoccupato del risultato.
Per la pelle ho fatto un miscuglione di Tallarn flesh, liche purple, dwarf flesh. Ho poi lavato con il badab black e leviathan purple mischiati.
Alla base ho aggiunto dwarf flesh e ho progressivamente lumeggiato con rotting flesh ed infine bleached bone. Fatto questo ho ripassato le transizioni tra i colori con la base schiarita e con l'aggiunta di catachan green.
Il risultato vero lo si ottiene però con i vari lavaggi successivi. Per il prossimo cercherò di fare un tutorial passo passo.... :)

This is my first zombie ever and I was very worried of the result.
Next time I'll try to do a tutorial step-by-step of how I painted the flesh that I really like very much.. :)
