Birmingham up to 7th Place

In the Championship, BIRMINGHAM CITY won 2-1 at home against WATFORD and are on a total of 29 goals and a goal run of 6 games now. Watford hit goal number 25 and they have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

Week Seventeen

In Week Seventeen of the competition, we had a total of 5 winners all winning on a total of 9 goals each. Under our competition rules, we can only have 4 winners so we will be having our fourth Rollover of the season worth £10 next weekend. Our unlucky players were LYANNA GRIMWOOD, SANSA GRIMWOOD, LUCIFER (John Wood), SARAH MARSHALL and IAN SMITH.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Nearly half of us managed to pick up some goals this week, which means that our top five have changed slightly this week. In the lead this week we still have EMMAF with that total of 39 goals. Her teams are Ayr United, Brighton and Crewe. In second place we now have SCOTT THOMSON (1) now with a total of 38 goals moving up from three. In third place down from two we have DAVID BARRETT still with a total of 36 goals. In fourth place we now have our joint 2023/24 Champion, JOHN FILTNESS moving up from five now with a total of 35 goals. In fifth place, we now have HAYLEY ADKINS down from four and BARBARA BARNES (1) up from six. Both are on a total of 34 goals. In sixth place we still have COURTNEYP now with 33 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 4 of our teams without a game over the weekend, and another 9 of them failed to score any goals. Once again there were not many big results this weekend from our big voted teams. The average score has remained the same as last weekend with 5 goals. So if you have managed to pick up more goals than that this weekend, you have done well. The highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and they came from three of our teams. They are LEYTON ORIENT, NEWCASTLE and STENHOUSEMUIR.

We have all of the top nine teams this weekend with ARSENAL still top of the league, after they drew with London rivals CHELSEA. Bournemouth are on 21 goals. NEWCASTLE UNITED have won 4-1 away to Everton and have taken their goals total to 23. They have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. TOTTENHAM lost 2-1 at home against Fulham and picked up goal number 24. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 2-1 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. Palace are on a total of 21 goals while United are on 23. After they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, LIVERPOOL won 2-0 away to WEST HAM UNITED and are now on a total of 22 goals. West Ham picked up their 5th blank of the season. BRIGHTON won 2-1 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and are on a total of 33 goals. Forest picked up their 7th blank of the season. ASTON VILLA won 1-0 at home to bottom of the table WOLVES and picked up goal number 17. Wolves picked up their 8th blank of the season and now they have failed to score in their last four league games.

CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are still in second place after they won 2-1 at home against Derby and are on a total of 24 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. LEICERSTER CITY lost 3-2 at home against SHEFFIELD UNITED and are on a total of 24 goals. United are now on a total of 21 goals with 9 of them coming from their last three games. BRISTOL CITY won 1-0 away to Portsmouth and are now on a total of 28 goals. SOUTHAMPTON lost 3-2 away to  and are on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. NORWICH CITY have won their 3rd league game 3-1 at home to QPR and are now on a total of 21 goals, and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. PRESTON NE won 3-2 away to bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday and are now on a total of 28 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. WREXHAM drew 1-1 at home to BLACKBURN ROVERS and are on a total of 32 goals. Rovers hit goal number 18.

LEAGUE ONE

CARDIFF CITY are still at the top after they won 3-0 at home to Mansfield and are now on a total of 37 goals. BLACKPOOL have picked up their 9th blank of the season after they lost 3-0 at home to Reading. After they had failed to score in their last two games, STOCKPORT COUNTY drew 1-1 at home to Barnsley and are on a total of 29 goals. It’s 30 goals for LEYTON ORIENT after they won 4-0 away to Burton and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. PETERBOROUGH UNITED lost 2-1 away to Doncaster and hit goal number 21. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN drew 3-3 at home to AFC Wimbledon and are now on a total of 32 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. LUTON TOWN drew 1-1 at home to BOLTON and are on a total of 25 goals while Bolton are on 29 goals. PLYMOUTH lost 3-0 at home to Northampton and picked up their 8th blank of the season. WYCOMBE drew 1-1 away to Rotherham and are on a total of 33 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

WALSALL are still on top of the table after they won 3-1 at home to BROMLEY and are now on a total of 31 goals. Bromley are on a total of 31 goals and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. SWINDON TOWN are still in second place after they won 2-1 away to CHESTERFIELD and are on a total of 34 goals. Chesterfield picked up gaol number 33 and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. MK DONS are in third place as they win 2-1 at home to Fleetwood. The Dons are on a total of 38 goals and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. BARNET drew 1-1 at home to Harrogate and are on a total of 25 goals. NOTTS COUNTY won 1-0 away to Bristol Rovers and are on a total of 32 goals and have extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games. CREWE lost 2-1 away to Cambridge Utd and are on a total of 29 goals. GILLINGHAM drew 3-3 away to Shrewsbury and are now on a total of 29 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

SCOTTISH CUP 3rd Round we had just six of our teams in cup action and 4 of them are through to the next round. They were AYR UNITED who won 3-0 at home against non-league Turriff Utd. Ayr are now on a total of 37 goals. Also through to the next round are ROSS COUNTY won 2-0 away to non-league Banks O’ Dee and are on a total of 30 goals. COVE RANGERS won 2-1 away to St Johnston and are on a total of 18 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR won 4-1 at home to non-league Clachnacuddin and have now taken their goals tally to 27. DUMBARTON go out after they lost 4-0 at home to non-league Auchinlect Talbot and picked up their 4th blank score sheet. EAST FIFE picked up their 4th blank of the season as they lost 2-0 at home to Arbroath.

In the Premiership HEARTS are still top of the table after they drew their 4th league game 0-0 away to Motherwell. Hearts picked up their 2nd blank of the season and now two in a row. CELTIC in second place won 2-1 away to HIBERNIAN and are on a total of 34 goals and a goal run of 6 league/cup games. Hibs picked up goal number 26. RANGERS drew their 7th league game 0-0 at home to Falkirk. Rangers after a goal run of 9 league/cup games, picked up their 3rd blank of the season. Rangers are currently in 4th place in the table.

Our worst performing team is now COVE RANGERS this weekend, as they have picked up 10 blank score sheets in their 20 league/cup games.

Our highest scoring team in our 43rd Season is ROSS COUNTY. They won 8-0 at home against Edinburgh City in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One

We have another new leader this weekend and that is VINCENT CRUICKSHANK who now becomes the fourth player to stay there. Vincent picked up a total of 9 goals from the week. His teams are Celtic, MK Dons and Southampton. Graham Phillips moves down to second place this weekend as he picks up a total of 5 goals from his teams, all coming from the weekend. They are Arsenal, Celtic and MK Dons.

At the other end at 111 we still have ANNE HAMMOND making her third weekend there. Anne picked up just one goal at the weekend. Anne’s teams are Crystal Palace, Rangers and Wolves.

Another Win for Sheffield United

In the Championship, BLACKBURN ROVERS lost 1-0 at home to QPR and picked up their 5th blank of the season. SHEFFIELD UNITED won their fifth league game 3-0 at home to Portsmouth and are now on a total of 18 goals. WREXHAM won 2-0 at home against BRISTOL CITY and are on a total of 31 goals while City picked up their 5th blank of the season. After a goal run of 6 league/cup games, BIRMINGHAM CITY drew 1-1 at home to West Brom and are on a total of 27 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.

Middlesbrough Drop More Points

In the Championship, third place MIDDLESBROUGH lost 4-2 at home to Coventry and are on a total of 22 goals. IPSWICH TOWN won 2-0 away to Hull and are on a total of 29 goals. NORWICH CITY drew 1-1 at home against Oxford Utd and are on a total of 18 goals. WATFORD drew 1-1 at home to PRESTON NE and picked up goal number 24an dhave now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Preston are on a total of 25 goals and have extended their goal run to 6 league/cup games.  SOUTHAMPTON won 3-0 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are now on a total of 31 goals. Leicester picked up their 4th blank scoresheet. 

In League One after they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, LUTON TOWN won 2-1 at home to HUDDERSFIELD TOWN and are on a total of 24 goals. Huddersfield are on 29 goals. Week Sixteen

In Week Sixteen of the competition, we had our third Rollover of the season worth £10 and that went to PATRICK O’DONOGHUE who now becomes our 19th winner of the season. Patrick won on a score of 10 goals which is his personal best weekend score. Patrick joined Golden Goals in the 2017/18 season where he finished the season in 37th place out of 149 players with a total of 288 goals. He picked up one shared weekend win. Last season Patrick finished in 87th place out of 114 and with 248 goals. This season we can see Patrick in his highest position to date and he has had a total of 3 blank weekend scoresheets. Celtic is his best team. His winning teams are

The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from the Championship where SOUTHAMPTON picked up their biggest result of the season with a 5-1 away win over Charlton. Southampton have taken their goals tally up to 28 goals.

Southampton became our 32nd voted English team back in the 1984/85 season where they finished on a total of 71 goals. Their highest end of season score came in the 2023/34 season with 100 goals, which is the only time that they have reached that total. Last season they finished on a total of 39 goals, which is their lowest score to date. RANGERS won 2-1 at home against Livingston and are on a total of 24 goals and have now extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games.
