The Stimulus money's going to Obama VOTERS?

FROM USA TODAY: Click HERE for full story (if you have the stomach to)

WASHINGTON — Billions of dollars in federal aid delivered directly to the local level to help revive the economy have gone overwhelmingly to places that supported President Obama in last year's presidential election.

That aid — about $17 billion — is the first piece of the administration's massive stimulus package that can be tracked locally. Much of it has followed a well-worn path to places that regularly collect a bigger share of federal grants and contracts, guided by formulas that have been in place for decades and leave little room for manipulation.

(MORE INFO HERE YOU OUGHT TO READ):
REPORT: Cities missing out on much needed road funds
STIMULUS FUNDS: States aren't using money as intended

"There's no politics at work when it comes to spending for the recovery," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says. (Z: and Obama did NOT bow to that Saudi King....you might have SEEN it with your own eyes (and can again by clicking the link here) but he DID NOT do it ... because WE SAY SO....move on, folks..)

"Counties that supported Obama last year have reaped twice as much money per person from the administration's $787 billion economic stimulus package as those that voted for his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain, a USA TODAY analysis of government disclosure and accounting records shows. That money includes aid to repair military bases, improve public housing and help students pay for college."

And, there's always ACORN (I THINK they pretty overwhelmingly supported for Obama, too, RIGHT?) From The American Spectator: "Although ACORN operatives usually get their hands on such funds only after they have first passed through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or state and local governments, the new spending bill largely eliminates these dawdling middle men, making it easier to get Uncle Sam's largess directly into the hands of the same people who run ACORN's various vote fraud and extortion rackets. And the legislative package provides these funds without the usual prohibition on using government money for lobbying or political activities."

DID the OBAMA PEOPLE also give money to UNIONS which supported him? Uh...surprise! CLICK HERE: "Stanek contends that lawmakers in Washington, DC, used the economic downturn as an excuse to throw more money at education. He notes that in the last decade the U.S. has only seen a nine-percent increase in student enrollment, but a 22-percent increase in the number of teachers and administrators in K-12 education. "

MORE UNION SHENANIGANS? CLICK HERE for the rest of the article the following paragraph comes from: "To keep unions on board, Reich's stimulus "plan" (though to call this a "plan" is like calling cyanide a "sleep aid") will tempt union bosses with the means to quickly allow them to unionize these unskilled, unwhite minions with - here's the best part - stimulus money set aside to pay the union dues of these new workers (at three times the normal rate, no doubt), some of whom last month had neither the skill and/or motivation to bus tables at TGI Friday's but in a few weeks can be trained to wire an apartment building."

I add this..CLICK HERE....for more STIMULUS items you might 'enjoy' seeing......this caught MY eye:
$650 million for the digital television converter box coupon program. (the GOVERNMENT is doing this?)

Ah, well............why don't we ALL just sleep through all of this, don't question, don't challenge, and just GIVE PEACE A CHANCE? Like Malia does. (didn't SHE grow up fast!? She IS a pretty girl, no matter what you guys who thought I was being sexist last time I said this say!)

(if you are still reading, please do yourself a favor and watch the video below....it's one of THE nicest things I've seen in a long time. Beats the H out of the info in the above post, I assure you!)

England follows Germany on scrapping old cars...$$$

Looks like the information written about by Mr. Z in his recent article for this blog was noticed and is being implemented in Great Britain.

Update information: "In March, German auto sales soared 40 percent from the same month a year earlier to 401,000 vehicles. In February, the first full month the plan was effective, German new car sales jumped 21.5 percent, while falling elsewhere in the 16-nation eurozone."

Here's the article about England's new plans........just seems wise to me to, IF you feel you MUST "stimulate", then stimulate by pinpointing major problem areas. It was a good target for Germany because the auto industry is a major industry in Germany. Put money where everyone benefits; buyers, factories, workers at those factories, suppliers to those factories, stock holders, neighborhoods where those factories are, etc., etc., etc., ...... instead of spending $2 million on analyzing the stink in pig sties in Iowa? Just a thought.

The Soros Scheme ......... WAKE UP!

This might be the most important article on what's happening in our world that you have ever read. As usual, it's taking the Canadian media to tell Americans the truth.
PLEASE READ THE LINKED ARTICLE AND SEND IT AROUND. Even your liberal friends might open their eyes and ears to this truth, if you have the nerve to send it around. Of course, you'll get a lot of "OH, that must be on FOX". Please, it is not on FOX and, anyway, remind them that sloughing off information just because it might be on a conservative news venue is dangerous to truth and transparency. This is a huge problem in America today. The Left drew the lines, Alinsky style, and now nothing Conservative could EVER be beneficial. This has to change or we're in even bigger trouble than we think we're in because it means people won't THINK or WAKE UP. Here's one paragraph from the article:

Soros had backed Obama for president in 2008, saying that he had “the charisma and the vision to radically reorient America in the world.” His prediction seems to be eerily coming true.

Please send this around. We have a country to save.

z thanks, Pris

Middle School Economics

KIDS ARE SMARTER THAN WE THINK.

I recently asked my friend's little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day.

Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her,'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?' She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.'

Her parents beamed.

'Wow! What a worthy goal.' I told her, 'But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.'

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?'

I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

Her parents still aren't talking to me.......

(no loss)

This little girl 'got it'! Probably, no thanks to her schooling...please see WC's terrific post......it's on education and how it's failed America. If we'd had better educated children for the last thirty years, we'd never have elected a man with Obama's history, would never choose to threaten America's beautiful history with the ugliness of socialism, etc. etc. It's worth reading, folks!

Just wait till they see the new HEALTH PLAN

The Medical Profession Speaks out on the federal financial Stimulus Package.

The allergists voted to scratch it, and the dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the neurologists thought the administration had a lot of nerve, and the obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.

The ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted; the pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the pediatricians said, 'Oh, Grow up!'

The psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, the radiologists could see right through it, and the surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the plastic surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter."

The podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the urologists felt the scheme wouldn't hold water.

The anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas; and the cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

In the end, the proctologists left the decision up to the ......holes in Washington

Wouldn't THIS be REALLY STIMULATING? Amazing, no?

This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I thought this was the BEST idea. I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President,

Patriotic retirement:

There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force;
pay them $1 million a piece severance with three stipulations:

1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage- Housing Crisis fixed.

All National financial problems fixed!!!

Sincerely,
A Fellow American (Z: how's about $500,000 each? That might work, too!)

(thanks to our buddy, Jay)

"Journalistic DUTIES..?"

From AP, and a Headline on the Yahoo Homepage:

"Stewart has charged that people at CNBC knew what was going on behind the scenes on Wall Street but didn't tell the public. He has accused CNBC anchors and pundits of abandoning their journalistic duties and acting like cheerleaders for the market."

The irony! He's kidding, right? Here's my response:

"Conservatives have charged that the media in this country knew and recognized the problems associated with the people in Obama's background and his Socialist goals for America but didn't tell the public. We have accused every major network, most cable news networks, and 90% of every newspapers of abandoning their journalistic duties and acting like cheerleaders for the liberal Democrats."

Works for ME! But, it's okay for the LEFT to accuse...........not us.

As for the Cramer/Stewart dust-up; the clear message is "You'd BETTER not question this administration in ANY way, or your whole place of business will be roundly and openly criticized!" YOWEEEE, this is scary.

"..and PLEASE let us continue to pull the wool over Americans' eyes..........." and an additional bit about Mark Sanford

Is Larry Summers finally waking up to what we Conservative bloggers have been saying for almost 3 months now? He's NOW saying that the constant negativity about the economy is what needs to be changed? Yes, how many times have we said "Who's going to hire an employee or buy stock when Obama's out there practically saying we're on the Eve of Destruction!?" (just a little nod to Barry McGuire there, for those of you who remember!)

But, here's the deal, folks: Obama and Summers GOT their 2 Stimulus Packages by us and NOW they're joining our bandwagon, right? Easy to talk about how we need to be more optimistic NOW. THEY are optimistic NOW because they've got their wish, they have their packages, their earmark paybacks, robbing the successful and promoting Socialism. They've answered Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi's prayers! Why wouldn't they be optimistic!? Even relieved?

So, America's stuck with debt up to our grandchildren's necks .....This administration got their way after creating such fear we "HAVE TO PASS THE BILLS!", and now we're told to be optimistic!? Um................. WHAT?

"What we need today is more optimism and more confidence," Summers said. NOW you tell us.

(Don't you wonder what Reid WAS praying for?) ALSO: DO NOT FORGET TO WATCH GLENN BECK TODAY AT 5 EST. HIS RATINGS ARE SKYROCKETING...PEOPLE ARE HEARING SOME TRUTH...)

RE: MARK SANFORD: Does anybody think he's doing this for political reasons? Wouldn't he be MORE popular if he took all the stimulus money and promised his state the WORLD? Man, the media just can't stop spinning...this in Yahoo, of course.

The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

I've been wondering why I'm not more down lately. Things have been about as bad as I've known them in America (except for 9/11, of course). I've felt sad, I've even felt defeated from time to time: closing Gitmo, STD prevention as a stimulus and we're supposed to believe that?, the Oscars and the spanking the Lefties enjoyed giving good Americans just because they don't agree with them, forcing union members to vote in the open, the Stimulus package's passing, allowing embryonic stem cell research to get federal funding when so many Americans disagree with it and adult stem cells are far more promising, the ignoring of ALL the excellent science saying humans are not causing global climate change, the way Obama insults conservatives by name and seems to think everyone who doesn't believe what he does is beneath contempt, etc etc etc. This all wears you down, doesn't it? And I'm usually an upbeat person.

I've commiserated with fellow bloggers about how they just don't feel like making the visits to other blogs anymore and reading MORE bad news and MORE things they totally agree with but feel they can't do a thing about. And, I've seen a couple of very good bloggers leave lately. One, someone I think the world of for intelligence and incredible wit, has closed his blog down. Overnight ...."I'm done". I know this had nothing to do with politics, but it had the same effect on me. I suddenly felt lonely, even amidst all of the great bloggers who are still in business. I happen to like and get some comfort from my blogger buddies typing as I type, thinking what I'm thinking, feeling what I'm feeling. I like that, it keeps me going. I'll miss that blogger with the white-hot intensity of a thousand summers, his humor "killed me" as I often told him.

Ya, I like intelligent people blogging and he was sure one of them. LOTS of you great people are out there and I appreciate all of you.

The reason I write this pretty depressing post tonight is that I watched Hannity with Mr. Z and I was taking dishes into the kitchen after dinner when Greta Van Susteren came on and she said something about how much the Stimulus package is costing and mentioned the Omnibus bill. I said "Mr. Z, if that passes, I'm jumping out the upstairs window." As I finished saying it, Greta said "There's BREAKING NEWS! The Omnibus Bill has passed the Senate and it only needs Obama's signature now."

oh, good.

terrific. Kind of picks you RIGHT up, doesn't it!? heh

I haven't seen the details, but Evan Bayh and Russ Feingold were voting against it. (Yes, I said AGAINST) So, it's Republicans who kept this bill out of debate. Bayh had said last night that a few Republicans were voting FOR it because of the pork. They don't like YOUR pork, but they like THEIR pork, I guess. Ya, if the Republicans had all voted against it, it would have gone into debate and maybe the American public would WAKE UP in the discussion? It won't now. It's a done deal. As if Obama won't gleefully sign?!! This man gives new meaning to "the pen is mightier than the sword."

Are you ready for this? The AP is saying "Obama is also set to announce steps aimed at curbing lawmakers' so-called earmarks."

Wait. His Stimulus Package is passed. His Omnibus is passed. The Stimulus has, what, 8500 earmarks?, all of which he denied in his speech to Congress 3 weeks or so ago? "I'm so proud there aren't any earmarks in this bill~!!" (Ya, and Clinton didn't have sex with THAT WOMAN, either). The Omnibus is loaded, and they both passed. NOW he wants to "curb LAWMAKER's 'SO CALLED' earmarks?" um...... "SO CALLED?" And "NOW?" Is he planning yet ANOTHER huge ridiculous bill which he'll ban pork from? You can't make this stuff up!

We're closing Gitmo (habeus corpus for those guys makes me sick to my stomach), we're loosening restrictions against Cuba, we're telling kids that success isn't good, we're graduating dummies, we're all going to pay for your neighbor's abortion (and mortgage, and health care, and their kid's college educations, too, come to think of it), we Conservatives are suddenly the enemy of a president who barely conceals his distaste for anyone keeping him from the dreams of Saul Alinsky. Here is one:
"The Radical may resort to the sword but when he does he is not filled with hatred against those individuals whom he attacks. He hates these individuals not as persons but as symbols representing ideas or interests which he believes to be inimical to the welfare of the people
. (Alinsky 1946: 23) Check this link out and make sure you read 'tactics'. Do those words in bold feel familiar to you, too?

So...not to sound too down here, but sometimes I think the only thing that's keeping me so calm is my faith. I'll let you conjecture about that if you want, I have no need to eludicate nor do I have the desire to have what I'd say dissected, so.......that's it. My faith. Praise God for it. Some of you know that "..peace which surpasses all understanding.." and I just have to say "AMEN".

And I will say the pen seems to be far, far mightier than the sword these days. Obama's got the pen and the sword, and he's using both as fast as he can. Left handed, did you notice? And sealing our fates. OH, and Hillary's over there selling us to China, which is giving us problems with some ship somewhere, did you hear? N. Korea's saying they're testing a missile....Russia turned down Obama's "hey, let's be friends! You put in the good word in Iran and we'll play nice regarding those missile shields you resent, okay? " "Nyet" was Russia's answer. Then, Obama said "Hey, let's get our soldiers to talk to the NICE Taliban and then maybe that Taliban, the really nice ones, will put in the good word for US, okay?" The Taliban said "You're kidding, RIGHT?" (in Arabic, of course) But, Obama's signing us into debt for years to come and thinking he's got the world by the tail!

Cheer up, everybody. We'll be fine, but some days are tougher than others, right?

And make sure you watch Glenn Beck on Friday, March 13....5 pm EST. That should give us some hope. Remember, the pen might be mightier than the sword sometimes, but our swords need to get sharp; our 'swords' are those tea parties, writing our politicians, demanding that our leaders pay attention to both sides of every issue, writing to the media venues and demanding honesty. And our blogs are our pens. Don't give up! We have a heck of a fight on our hands..............sharpen your pens.............

(My dear friend, Heidianne, has a great piece on her blog which dovetails mine...check it out!)

Here's a "STIMULATING" idea from Germany... by Mr. Z

Talking about a stimulus bill: Germany has introduced a „wrecking premium“ to induce auto sales – I was skeptical, I have to admit, but it works!

Here is how it functions: As of February 1, 2009, whoever submits his car to be wrecked upon buying a new car, receives €2,500 from the German Government which has made €1.5 billion available for this purpose – that would make 600,000 buyers of new cars. The run on this turned about to be enormous, so that shortly, the full contingent will be signed up, only limited by the availability of cars. Almost all cars bought under this program are small cars, however, with the VW Golf being the #1 beneficiary, and others, such as Ford Focus and Opel Astra following suit. The result: Factories which were under „short work“ (work reduction) before, not only had to cancel the short work, but also introduce extra shifts.

New car registrations increased in February by 21.5 % relative to February 2008, and 46% over January 2009. At the same time, the order intake increased by 63% in February, and reached the highest level since 2001.

The losers are the companies with premium cars such as Mercedes and BMW which a struggling with a sales reduction of 28%, while Volkswagen with the main brands VW, Audi and Skoda increased their profit in 2008, and have 5 of the 10 most sold car types in February.

But there is also a strange (or should I say funny) result related to this premium: Everything done by impacting the market has an involuntary side effect. Old cars, disposed of in Germany and replaced by newer cars, are normally shipped to Africa and used there for a large number of years. There is a whole business, located in Hamburg, based on the shipping of old cars to Cameroon, Angola and other African countries in that region. Now, with this new situation, the destruction of these old cars has basically dried that business up.

So, what do you think? Could this work here? Would we want to do this? Just a thought...Mr. Z

Don't you feel like we're just JUMPING THROUGH HOOPS ?

I saw Alan Colmes 'debate' Cal Thomas on FOX this morning.

Cal Thomas was bemoaning earmarks and how Obama hasn't done what he promised about ridding us of millions of dollars in special interest pork.

Alan smiles that toothsome, loathsome grin, and says "Well, you have to remember this bill was started in the past administration...it's hard for Obama to get rid of earmarks from the past administration's work..." (the public hears that and some believe him)

Cal Thomas remained silent. There's Z wanting to SCREEEEECH at the TV "But, BUSH didn't write this @$*(#&# bill! PELOSI AND REID (and Soros) DID...WHY DON'T YOU REMIND HIM, CALLLL??" Cal just sat there with a BIG smile on his face. Alan wins. And Alan knows he's wrong. Even Alan isn't THIS devoid of his senses. (if Cal doesn't rebutt, then....that public thinks he's got to be right!)

Do you ever feel like some of those people we THINK are on OUR side are not standing up for US?

(thanks for the picture, Mr. Z...I was typing this post when I got it...kind of fit!)

Their cups must runneth over.......start sending...

Got this email today and thought I'd pass it on for your good efforts:

There's a storm abrewin'. What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet? Washington has forgotten they work for us. We don't work for them. Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer. I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan. I am sick of Congress raking CEO's over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes. I am sick of the bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar. I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford. I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes. I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen. I pay my taxes. I live on a budget and I don't ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make. I have emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first. No one listened. They voted for it, pork and all.
O.K. folks, here it is. You may think you are just one voice and what you think won't make a difference. Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!! If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes. If you are fearful of the fallout from the reckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and "stimulate" without accountability and responsibility then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA. There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens. What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.
So, here's the plan. On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington , D.C. You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just a TEABAG. Many cities are organizing protests. If you simply search, "New American Tea Party", several sites will come up. If you aren't the 'protester' type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG. Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way. Yes, something needs to be done but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes.
This was not my idea. I visited the sites of the 'New American Tea Pary' and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1?? We want them to reach Washington by April 15. Will you do it? I will. Send it to; 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington , D.C. 20500 .
Forward this to everyone in your address book. Visit the website below for more information about the 'New American Tea Party'. I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelope ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1. Can't guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready. What will this cost you? A little time and a 40 something cent stamp.
What could you receive in benefits? Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people. ; Take out the Pork. Tell us how the money is being spent. We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4-5 years. It is not too late.

Please send bags.......there isn't much else we CAN do!

"Say AHHHHH?" or "HUUHHH?"

I had my teeth cleaned yesterday. I walked in and sat down with Ann, my hygienist, and she said "Z, what's going on in our country? Everything I hear from the new administration is about attacking the successful! Don't they realize they pay the bills, they hire us, they keep this country running? How can this be happening in America? We're spending ALL this money and we're not sure where it's going!"

Ann is right. And, by the way, how bad can things be when Hillary's just given $900 million to Palestinians? (Gee, maybe Americans could have used a little of that to pay for that stimulating part of the bill, STD prevention....? or maybe the frisbee park?) The deal is that the Palestinian Authority is supposed to 'organize' the dispensing of those monies. Ah, good.........the same kind of transparency and accountability we give Congress. Nice!! (not) If America was smarter, and Hillary more honest, we'd be saying the same thing I heard a comedienne say recently about the nonaccountibility of the billions we've given to bail-outs. "Accountability? I want RECEIPTS!"

So does my hygienist. And she's right.

There's supposedly money in there for removing tattoos from gang members, too. How stimulating is that?

Biden is .........gee, I hate to say "stupid", but.........

VP Joe Biden came up with some great advice last night. A woman asked him "What will this bill do to help us small business owners?" Did you hear his response? First, he couldn't think of anything and told her to call his office this morning and they could help.

Then, stammering and hesitating for something to say, he threw in "....we'll be building bridges which might be in your neighborhood and bring you more business or help you get to work."

z

Jindal and the Volcano.........This is important to Yahoo!

Is the liberal media THIS SCARED of Bobby Jindal or any other Republican!? This cracked me up..... Jindal questioned VOLCANO MONITORING in his speech last night. Seems like that's probably worth questioning...it's NOT a "stimulus" item for any "Stimulus Package" to me, how about you!? (that's $140 million on volcanos, by the way)

I mean, didn't "stimulus" mean ECONOMIC STIMULUS? Isn't THAT what we're concentrating on these days? VOLCANO MONITORING!?? So, we have a science writer describing why VOLCANO MONITORING is so very, very important....wherein she lists volcanos, how they have erupted, why, when, how VERY imporant volcano monitoring is. Fine. But, to an ECONOMIC stimulus package? Is that like STD prevention is stimulating to our economy?

And YAHOO posts it in their morning headlines. THAT is why I wrote about this here. Funny, if Jindal did so badly, that Yahoo would highlight an article picking on his having dissed volcano scientists... It even adds: "The criticism of government funding of scientific research was similar to remarks made last fall during the presidential campaign by vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who was dismissive of fruit fly research." (message: You just can't trust those Republicans to care about volcanos or fruit flies. Response: Maybe I wouldn't dismiss this research out of hand, BUT........think straight, lefties: ON AN ECONOMIC STIMULUS PLAN?)

Oh, I KNOW, a volcano could go off and hurt an economy somewhere in this great land, but is this the VITAL, important, TIMELY kind of thing we need NOW, when we're supposed to be fiscally responsible and have "no earmarks"?!! (I had to turn the speech off when Obama looked into the camera and actually reminded us how there are no earmarks in this bill! Sort of like Clinton...who did "NOT have sexual relations with...")

They're sounding a little desperate at YAHOO, aren't they!? Couldn't they highlight an article slamming Jindal on any of his other criticisms? We know his STYLE didn't wow anybody...and Obama's did. I'm just wishing STYLE wasn't quite so important in America these days....

Maybe Jindal should have discussed the FRISBEE PARK on the stimulus package, instead. Or a museum honoring Sam Rayburn? No pork there...............right?!!

Republican Governors face a stimulating quandary....

Republican governors are 'split' on the Stimulus package and whether they should take money from it. There are sneaky (well, everything was 'sneaky' because nobody was given time to read it, of course) little bits in it which change the way they're used to doing business; Mississippi says they have on their laws that one can't take welfare if they flatly refuse to work. That's mandated to change IF they take that part of the package. And, the same benefits will apply to part-time workers, too, which is now mandated but wasn't in the state laws.

Arnold , of course, says "Governor Sanford says that he does not want to take the federal stimulus package money. And I want to say to him: I'll take it. I'm more than happy to take his money or any other governor in this country that doesn't want to take this money, I take it, because we in California need it," he said. (from article linked above)

Here's the dilemma....David Gregory on MEET THE PRESS Sunday morning grilled Bobby Jindal with "You going to turn away money to help your UNEMPLOYED?" Get the Democrat spin? (No principles SHOULD be adhered to because PEOPLE NEED THIS! There simply IS no way to help without this entire package!..not)

Mark Sanford of S. Carolina just keeps rising in my estimation. He's for not taking money. He doesn't believe it's helpful, he doesn't want to screw his state into accepting the terms. He's read and done his homework....

But, will these principled men suffer politically (in their own party) for it? The Democrats (media, too) have done such a good job of painting this as the LAST EFFORT TO FIX AMERICA. THE PEOPLE NEED IT. IF WE DO NOT DO THIS WE MAY NEVER RECOVER, right? Will many Americans understand it's NOT the 'fix', it might be exactly what we shouldn't have? Will most Americans just want the entitlements they're being manipulated into feeling they deserve?

Quite a QUANDARY... I don't envy the principled governors, but I surely do admire them.

Just saw this: Even CNN's getting the point; Apparently, if you lost your job, you won't get help on your mortgage. Wait, even I think it might be good to help people in that condition. What's up, Nancy and Harry?

geeeeeZ readers...Below is a real dilemma....what would you suggest for these people?:

Take Joe Martinez of Bristow, Va., who fits the profile of the "responsible" homeowner Obama cited in the plan. The government contractor and his wife thought they did everything right when they bought their brand new $600,000 house two years ago. They put 5% down and got a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage they could afford.

Others in their neighborhood, however, couldn't keep up with the payments. As foreclosure rose, the value of the couple's home plummeted to $450,000, leaving them doubtful they'd ever recover their investment.

Martinez called their lender to try to get into the Hope for Homeowners program, which would reduce their loan balance to 90% of the home's current value. But they were turned down because they weren't in default....
