~ French Beauty ~

Hello my friends...I hope that you're having a fabulous day!

Earlier this week, I shared with you a lilac bouquet that I fashioned for my
living room.  While I was there...I took a few photos of the vignette that decorates
the large arched window area in that room.

The sun's bright rays filled the room and really illuminated the "frenchy" vignette.
It was sooo pretty!  I hope that you enjoy!

Here we are...in my living room.

I love this large arched shaped window!  As you can see...it allows
lot's of beautiful sunlight to fill the room.  The window is framed with long,
white sheers and gold draperies that puddle onto the floor...lending a
romantic ambiance to the room.  I love it!

The antique cherry sofa table that sits in front of the arched window
hosts a summery vignette.

A vignette with a soft...romantic...french beauty!

Creamy whites...and antique silver...paired together for a light summery vignette.

I have had this tall silver table lamp for a very long time.  I love it's curvy, frenchy
lines.  An oval shaped silver platter sits front and center...and acts as a foundation for
the creamy white french pedestal and antique silver lidded tureen.

And...of course...on the right side of the vignette...

my french beauty!

The sunlight illuminated and framed this frenchy vignette sooo beautifully!
I just had to get photos!

A close-up of the creamy white frenchy pedestal and the antique silver tureen.

I found this beautiful silver tureen at a thrift store...can you believe it?

"Victor Silver Co. Quadruple Plate...3735" is stamped on the bottom.

I think it was a real-steal at just $19!  The silver plating is worn in a few
places but it really just adds to the beauty of this piece...and I love, love, LOVE
all the ornate detailing.  I am not using it here...but the ladle also came with
the tureen.  A great treasure find for sure!

Just a few photos...

photo effects created at Photobucket.

A Summer Bouquet...

*

*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
Ohhh my gosh...it has been crazy-busy at my place lately!  Between quests and summer trips, I haven't had much time to spend on my blog.  I have missed all of you, dear friends...hopefully I will be able to do a little catching up this week!
*
Today I thought I would share a quick little post for the Table Top Tuesday and Open House Thursday parties this week.  Eeeks...I'm even running late for Table Top Tuesday!  I'll be just slidin' in by the seat of my britches...hehe!  I know that many of you have seen my summer dining room but I took these photos a week ago and thought I would go ahead and share them today.  I hope that you enjoy!
*
A Summer Bouquet
*
*
Here we are in my french country dining room.
*
A couple of weeks ago, my sister and brother-in-law from Texas came for a visit.  I wanted to make a pretty dining room table centerpiece that we could enjoy while dining.  I found this beautiful bouquet of apple green and white colored mums at the market and thought they would be perfect!  A frenchy looking...white ironstone pitcher...holds the fresh flower bouquet.
*
*
As you can see...I have used shades of white and apple green for my dining room's summer decor.
*
Green Apples...Green Apples...and More Green Apples
*
A large cloche filled with green apples decorates the summer buffet (in the background).  I carried the same green apple theme over to the table.  A large green leaf platter along with a trio of green apples join the fresh flower bouquet for a summery table centerpiece.
*
I think green apples just "sing of summer"...don't you?
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
I love the big white crysanthemums and the little apple green colored mums too!
*
*
*
*
*
I really am loving this bright shade of green and white against the red wall color!
*
*
*
*
*
Well my friends...I hope that you enjoyed my fresh flower summery bouquet!

"Green Apples & Lace"...A Summer Tablescape

*
*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
I do believe that summer has arrived in colorful Colorado!  We have been having some really warm temperatures which cause me to retreat to the house, close to the a/c!  I know...I know...I'm such a spoiled "ninny"!  Hehe!
*
Since I have been spending time inside...I have been having a little fun playing dishes!  Today, I thought I would share with you a fresh, summery tablescape that I just created.  I hope that you enjoy!
*
"Green Apples & Lace"
A Summer Tablescape
*
*
Here we are in my french country dining room.
*
As you can see, my dining room is done in shades of red, olive green, and gold.  This color theme tends to be a bit dark...but I think the white dining table/chairs and buffet help keep the room light.  I love how the crisp white looks against the deeper, rich colors!  I found my old chippy, french farm table several years ago at the antique flea market.  I just love it!
*
*
*
"Green Apples & Lace"
*
With temperatures heating up, I wanted to create a summer tablescape using "cool" colors.
*
Fresh, crisp white and bright apple green...
*
"fit the ticket" perfectly.  It's time to come in out of the heat...and cool off...at a summery, luncheon table for four!
*
*
*
Mmmm...refreshing!!!  I think it's feeling cooler already!  Hehe!
*
*
*
Mmmm...I really do like how the crisp white and bright apple green look against the red dining room walls...don't you?
*
In fact, it was the spring and summer decor of my dining room buffet that inspired this fresh, summery table today.
*
Here is a peek at the buffet...
*
*
Lot's of cool, crisp white...with a few splashes of apple green!
*
I collect white ironstone pitchers and decided to display a few of them in the vignette for my spring/summer buffet.
*
I also love cloches...can you tell?  Hehe!  Two of my favorite cloches can be seen here!
*
*
*
On the left-hand side of the buffet...
*
An olive green transferware pitcher filled with teaspoons is showcased under a tall cloche.  I elevated the cloche on a glass pedestal plate to give it a little more "presence".  I also placed an apple green colored leaf plate under the small ironstone pitcher...to bring a "splash" of that pretty green to this side of the vignette.
*
*
*
On the right-hand side of the buffet...
*
Green apples!  Green apples under glass!  I love how they look...so fresh...and so summery!  I think that this is the largest cloche that I own.  It stands a stately 13" in height and is a whopping 10" in diameter.  I'm sure that I could stack an entire dozen of green apples easily...under this big girl!  Hehe!

*
*
"Green Apples & Lace"
The Centerpiece...
*
A white ironstone pitcher filled with white and green hydrangeas is the star attraction in this "Green Apples and Lace" table centerpiece.  The beautiful summery bouquet is sitting atop a large, green, "leaf shaped" serving platter.  It's a nice sized platter...measuring about 18" in length...it actually could double for a serving tray.  A trio of bright green apples are scattered about on the leaf platter.
*
Four crystal candleholders with apple green tapers join the mix...two on either side of the leaf platter.  And...a cloche...with a single green apple...adds another beautiful aspect to this summer table centerpiece.

Both sets of dishes are new and making their "debut" on this table today.

*
I love, love, LOVE the detailing on these pretty dishes. The beautiful ruffled edges...the embossed pattern of flowers with ribbons and bows...ahhh...such sweetness!!!
*
It was love at first sight!  When I seen this set of beautiful, white lace dishes at JC Penneys...I had to have them.  They were clearanced at Penney's online outlet store.  I purchased a five piece place setting...service for eight...for just $56!  The "dish angels" were smiling down on me that day! Hehe!

A Summertime Master Bedroom...Part II

*
*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
Earlier in the week, I shared Part I of..."Down by the Seashore"...A Summertime Master Bedroom.  I would just like to thank all of you who stopped by.  I appreciate all of your sweet notes!
*
Part I primarily focused on a few of the summery vignettes that I created for this room.  Today in Part II, I would like to share the design of the bedroom itself...and the summer bed linens.  I hope that you enjoy!
*
*
"Down by the Seashore"
A Summertime Master Bedroom...Part II
*
Here we are...in my master bedroom.
*
I have been playing with summertime decor at my place and having so much fun! I usually change things up a bit with each new season. I love a "good" change...keeping things fresh and updated!
*
Here in Colorado, changing out winter's warm, heavy bed linens for something a little lighter is really a necessity. Sooo...it just seems natural to start in the bedrooms when doing a little seasonal decorating!
*
Summertime Colors
...White and Linen...
*
As you can see, I have an "Old-World-like plaster" paint treatment in antique gold on the walls.. It's a fairly "neutral" color...which opens up a variety of options for using different "accent" colors. I have chosen soft shades of white and linen for my master's summertime decor. Keeping it light and simple!
*
*
Master Bedroom Suite...
*
We have a fairly good sized master bedroom and bath.  My honey designed and built the master bedroom suite before I came into the picture...but I love everything about it and wouldn't change a thing.
*
The bath area is "opened" to the bedroom.  Honey said that after his travels in Europe, he wanted to build a "European" master bedroom/bath.  Designing the bath where it is opened to the bedroom really gives the room a cozy and romantic ambiance!  The design really is quite unique, I think!
*
The Master Bath...
*
The photo above was taken from the far side of the bed...looking toward the bath.  Wall columns separate the bath tub and vanity areas from the bedroom.  A partial wall separates the toilet area from the bedroom...offering a bit of privacy.
*
Long, flowing, linen colored sheers are hung at each column...a total of four panels...to soften the hard lines of the column.  I have used the same linen colored sheers behind the bed as well.  I really do love the soft and elegant feel that the sheer draperies bring to the design of the master bedroom.
*
*
An "Old World" Vanity...
*
I love my "Old World" sink and vanity!  The bowl of the sink is oversized and hangs over the wood vanity cabinet.
*
New Summery Accessories...
*
The master bath has received an updated look for summer as well!  Tall apothecary jars filled with seashells, glass hurricanes filled with white candles, and fluffy white towels have replaced the winter accessories.
*
*
A "Down at the Seashore" Bath Spa...
*
We have a whirlpool bath tub...ahhh...it is sooo sweet!  Adding the jetted tub really does give our master bedroom/bath a "spa" feel! Gotta love that!  Hehe!
*
*
*
*
The chest of drawers.
*
I wanted to show you the chest of drawers that I found a few years back.  I love the embossed finish on the front of the drawers!
*
*
A light and simple "Down by the Seashore" vignette.
*
*
The wall art above the chest of drawers.
*
The two pieces on either end are plaster relief panels.  I love the frenchy design and finish on these pretty pieces.  Not the best photo but I wanted to share them with you.
*
*
When I painted our master bedroom and bath...using the "Old World" plaster/paint technique...I gave our closet doors a similar finish.  I stenciled a floral scroll design on the door panels.
*
If you look closely...just to the right of the closet doors...you will see the same "floral scroll" design on the wall.  I used the same stencil (that I used on the closet panels) and plaster.  This gives a raised plaster effect on the wall.  I just randomly used the plaster and stencil all over the bedroom and bath walls. Love how that turned out!!!
*
*
Summer Bed Linens...
*
Shades of fresh white and soft linen for the bed!
*
Last summer I ordered a new duvet and shams from Pottery Barn called "Painterly Paisley".  I love the soft shades of the linen and gray paisley pattern on a background of white!  I am also using a white matelasse coverlet with matching shams.
*
*
Lots and lots of pillows for a soft, comfy bed!
*
I found the linen bolster pillow at JC Penneys.
*
*
A close-up of the "Painterly Paisley" pattern.
*
As soon as I seen the paisley pattern, I was reminded of seashells!  The larger, circular paisley looks so much like a shell...I think!
*
*
"Down by the Seashore"
"His" and "Her" Vignettes
*
"His" Vignette...
*
Honey sleeps on the left side of the bed so this cabinet belongs to him. In keeping with the theme..."Down by the Seashore"...I tried to create a vignette of interest with more of a masculine feel and a little less "frou-frou"! Hehe!
*
*
Old Glass and Treasures from the Sea...
*
A large vintage canning jar filled with white candles, a smaller jar filled with seashells, an old bottle filled with sea sand and shells...and a couple of old books...share the spotlight in this seashore vignette. The light brown, velvet runner creates a nice foundation...looking a bit like sand on the beach.
*
A framed print of summertime flowers decorates the wall above the cabinet.
*
*
*
*
*
Now...

A "Down by the Seashore" Vignette for "Her"!
*
*
The right side...or my side of the bed!
*
*
Romantic Candlelight and Sea Treasures...
*
Okay...my seashore vignette has just a bit of "frou-frou" in it! Girls are like that...yea, they are! Hehe!
*
Do you see the pretty sachet hanging on the cabinet door?  This beautiful Victorian beaded sachet was a gift from my dear friend Gloria from Happy To Be blog.  She brought this sweet gift to me when she came for a visit last month.  The sachet is filled with dried roses and it smells just heavenly!  I love it...thank you, sweet Gloria!
*
*
*
*
*
Another framed print of a summer bouquet lays against the wall and sets the tone for this romantic, seashore vignette.
*
Candles...Candles...and More Candles...
*
I love candles and candlelight...for a little romantic ambiance! I found these old, chippy, cream colored iron candleholders many years ago. Tall white pillars bring more of that summery feel to this vignette. A small glass votive with another white candle...sea sand...and shells join into the mix.
*
*
Treasures from the Sea...
*
This large shell is actually a bowl from a set of shell dishes that I have. I filled it with a few of my favorite things...
*
a vintage linen and lace handkerchief...
two little star fish...
and pearls...
*
lots and lots of pearls!
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
and...Voila!  There you have it...A "Down by the Seashore" summertime master bedroom and bath!
I hope that you enjoyed!
*
