Pocket Tissue Case Workshop!

Photobucket

Hello Sandwiches,

These are some incredible pocket tissue cases the participants made at the Hello Sandwich Pocket Tissue Case sewing workshop at Shibaura House last night!

I find it so inspiring meeting everyone at the workshops. People who attended last nights workshop included textile students, illustrators, gallery owners, hair+make artists, furniture designers, editors, editorial art directors, stationery shop owners, product designers and many other amazing people. It's always a buzz with conversation (when participants aren't so quiet from too much concentration that is!) between these creatives in both Japanese and English.

I'll be having 4 more workshops at different locations (and also including one at Shibaura House) before Christmas so I hope you can pop on in to one! Details to follow.

Kanae Entani's Workshop at Nidi Gallery

Photobucket

Photobucket

Hello Sandwiches!

I just got home from the loveliest of evenings at Nidi Gallery. Kanae Entani-san had an exhibition of her beautiful, detailed and delicate embroidery work and she was also holding a drop-in style workshop. Participants could bring an item of their choice (such as a tote bag, handkerchief or blouse) to embroider with the help of Kanae-san. I took a piece of calico fabric to embroider with the idea of turning it into a mini cushion afterwards.

Kanae-san placed my fabric in an embroidery hoop and drew me a mini-mori design with a disappearing felt tip marker.

Photobucket

It was then time to embroider the designs and chat with the other lovely workshop participants.

The french dots were simpler than I thought and a lot of fun!

Two cuties! Nidi Gallery owner Arisa-san and Kanae-san.

With Yuzuko-chan's new book and Kanae-san's exhibition and workshop I think I've caught the embroidery bug! It's perfect timing too as the weather is getting cooler in Tokyo it's perfect to snuggle up with some stitching and a glass of hot wine. (I'm sitting with my Muji pom pom covered hot water bottle now さ。む。い。!)

Yuzuko-chan's new stitch book!

Photobucket

Yuzuko-chan's new stitch book came in the mail the other day. When mail is too big to fit into my letter box the postman brings it upstairs to my apartment. 'Hello Sandwich sama desu ka?' he said. 'Hai, Hello Sandwich desu. Gokurosama desu!' and he smiled.

Hello Sandwich Garage Sale #2 (Fabric Pack Special!)

If you missed the first Hello Sandwich Garage Sale (see more here) then you might like to come along to the second Hello Sandwich Garage Sale this Sat! This time the sale is at a very special location...out the back of my mums shop! (Thanks mum!xxx)

I will be selling more of the pre-loved packs but this time I cleaned out my fabric cupboard and have boxes full of lovely little fabric and craft packs! Did you know I used to have my own fashion label and also stocked a range under a 'diffusion' label to chain store Dotti? Needless to say I have a LOT of fabric and sewing supplies so if you are in need of buttons, thread, fabric, trims, wool, patterns etc...then you might like to pop on over.

And, you may have noticed I adore Gift Wrapping? Well, I have put together some little Gift Wrapping Packs containing everything you need to create beautifully wrapped presents. The packs I have put together for the Garage Sale are slightly different (and slightly cheaper) than the packs on my online store!

Remember my pretty tanabata installation? I'm also selling some of the unique elements from this artwork which would look so pretty hanging in any room.

Other items for sale are: Art books, design books, magazines, lots of cute accessories, clothes, shoes, handbags, homewares, pretty rolls of wallpaper, knick-knacks, bikes, furniture, BBQs, CD's, sporting equipment and lots of the usual garage sale stuff!

And...this time Mr Y also got involved with the spring cleaning and has some great Japanese clothes and shoes to sell so bring your boyfriend!

Do come along and say hello and snap up a Pre-loved by Hello Sandwich bargain!
