This is a true "psychedelic" recording in its literal sense. And probably the most "far out" musical work of the one-man-home-recording-project ANYONE'S DREAMCOLOUR. One improvised guitar track was recorded, while under the influence of some psychedelic substance, and later, over the next few weeks/months three more tracks were overdubbed with various guitars, voices, drums and other sounds – trying to resemble the different moods of a psychedelic experience. The result is – not surprising – an unnerving, often disturbing bizarre listening adventure. This for sure isn't straight rock music! Rather a kind of a rough soundscape, giving one the opportunity to witness an inner space travel. Some tracks, like for example Out of Time, are heavily disjointed, resembling quite effectively the affect of psychedelic substances. 

No Difference was (in a more rock oriented version/arrangement) later played live by CLOUD NINE (and ORANGE) and also recorded.
Be warned! This recording is surely something of an acquired taste. Different sounds for different people...
Should be listened to in the dark on headphones!
The Acid Daze film was based on the Super 8 film Colours - Death of The Mind, which was shown as a background integrated into the light show at CLOUD NINE & THE VITAMIN C performances.
The original film was repeatedly re-cut and extended until it was digitised and spiced up with new sequences in March 2023. This is definitely the final version.

Dies ist eine "psychedelische" Tonaufnahme im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Und wahrscheinlich das "abgefahrenste" musikalische Werk des Ein-Mann-Home-Recording-Projekts ANYONE'S DREAMCOLOUR. Ein improvisierter Gitarrentrack wurde aufgenommen, während der Solokünstler unter dem Einfluss einer psychedelischen Substanz stand, und später, im Laufe der darauffolgenden Wochen/Monate, wurden drei weitere Tonspuren mit verschiedenen Gitarren, Stimmen, Schlagzeug und anderen Klängen eingespielt – in dem Versuch, die verschiedenen Stimmungen einer psychedelischen Erfahrung darzustellen. Das Ergebnis ist – wenig überraschend – ein oft anstrengendes, verstörendes, bizarres Hörerlebnis. Dies ist mit Sicherheit keine Rockmusik im eigentlichen Sinn! Vielmehr handelt es sich um eine Art Klanglandschaft, die einem die Möglichkeit gibt, Zeuge einer inneren Weltraumfahrt zu werden. Einige Tracks, wie z. B. Out of Time, sind wie in verschiedenen Zeitschichten seltsam verschoben und veranschaulichen dadurch sehr effektiv die Wirkung psychedelischer Substanzen.
No Difference wurde (in einer rockigeren Version/mit einem anderen Arrangement) später von CLOUD NINE (und auch der Frankfurter Band ORANGE) live gespielt und ebenfalls aufgenommen.
Warnung! Diese Aufnahmen sind sicherlich nichts für den Mainstream-Hörer! Sollte im Dunkeln mit Kopfhörern angehört werden!
Als Grundlage für den Acid Daze-Film diente der Super-8-Film Colours – Death of The Mind, der bei CLOUD NINE & THE VITAMIN C-Auftritten in die Lightshow integriert als Hintergrund gezeigt wurde.
Der ursprüngliche Film wurde immer wieder umgeschnitten und erweitert, bis er im März 2023 digitalisiert und mit neuen Sequenzen aufgepeppt wurde. Dies ist definitiv die finale Fassung.

Sun Waahs - Humiliani (PORTUGAL, 2023) Video

PINK FLOYD – The Early Years 1965-1972

Unfortunately not quite the big hit!

Pink Floyd fans tend to be excessive collectors, so you have to offer something very special if you want to sell them a rarities box that is not exactly in the low-price sector. Countless bootleg LPs/CDs and also TV recordings have been circulating for years, if not decades, and when the corresponding recordings are then released "legally", the hardcore fan expects that they will then at least appear in the best possible sound version.
To say it right away: not only in this respect is this extensive box a disappointment in places.
But first things first.

- First of all, the presentation
A bit unconventional, this oversized black shoebox, but okay, if you know that the layout is based on the first band bus, then you can find that okay. Cover and general artwork of PF have always been very special and mostly of outstanding quality (Storm Thorgenson/HIPGNOSIS). In this respect: Good, at least someone has thought about it. The numerous inlays, poster reprints and vinyl singles reprints are also fine. But what is a real nuisance is that the films are released in TWO versions, as DVDs and, superfluously, also as Blue-Ray discs. Who needs that? Who needs two formats of the same content. Either/or would have been appropriate here, because the buyer is paying twice for one and the same product. More than annoying! Pure money-making could be assumed here.


- The selected film documents
Mostly enjoyable, especially the early footage in good quality; outstanding especially the KQED material from San Francisco in 1970, very well remastered. Annoying, however, that the Pompeii film is relegated to the souped-up, rather tasteless Dirctor's Cut. In a retrospective, the original, now rare, original version, which is visually much more appealing and authentic, would have been more appropriate. A pity.
It is unforgivable that neither the film "MORE" nor "LA VALLEE" appear with subtitles. Both films are available with subtitles, and "The Committee" has also been subtitled. Hello, quality control???
Of course, they would have liked to include the Anthony Stern film "San Francisco" from 1966 with a unique Interstellar Overdrive version, but no way! (Legal reasons?) Why Antonioni's ZABRISKIE POINT film is missing but the two Schroeder films already mentioned are included remains a mystery.
On the other hand, the legendary jam with Frank Zappa at Interstellar Overdrive from the Amougies Festival 1969 is shown officially for the first time, even though it is not filmed in its entirety and has more documentary than musical value, but that is surely a matter of taste. (One gets the impression that Zappa does hold back quite a bit).

About the CDs
CD 1: It's nice to hear all the 1965 material in good sound; the legendary songs In The Beechwoods, Vegetable Man and also Scream Thy Last Scream are virtually obligatory and also reproduced in good sound, but why once again the well-known singles Arnold Layne, Emily, Paintbox etc., which everyone already has anyway? And if so, then please in a stereo mix (as already known from Paintbox, Apples and Oranges!). Unfortunately, this is again not the case.


CD 2: Live in Stockholm; is okay, but hardly any added value to the well-known bootleg version.
A real surprise is the John Latham session. Even I had never heard of it, and I would definitely call myself a kind of "PF specialist". Musically the whole thing is a rather loose jam, but okay. There's not much material featuring Syd Barrett, so keep it coming! However, the division into single tracks seems rather arbitrary, it would have been better to do without it and rather make one or two longer tracks out of it. It's annoying that you don't get any information about the session, as well as the fact that the booklets are generally very poor in terms of information and visually unappealing. I expected more information. Much more!


CD 3 Again, a mishmash of superfluous singles (unfortunately again in mono and not in stereo, e.g. Careful, which was indeed available as a stereo mix on the Relics LP in 1971) and quite interesting BBC tracks of the time. All of them are not new, but in very good sound quality.


CD 4 BBC sessions from 1969 and a soundboard recording from Amsterdam without vocals, all known to collectors, but here again in excellent quality. All right. A huge annoyance, however, is track 4, which is wrongly announced here as "Seabirds" (from the original soundtrack of More), but in fact it is only an alternative (mono, what else? annoying!) take of "Quicksilver". HELLO? How can something like this happen? I am one of the probably hundreds (thousands?) of buyers who bought this box primarily because of this song (which is heard in the film but never officially appeared), and who are then extremely annoyed afterwards NOT TO GET WHAT IS ON IT!


Summing up the first 4 CDs, it is very disappointing that there are not many real outtakes from the studio LP sessions. Something like that would have really made the collector's heart beat faster. Praiseworthy exceptions are "Hollywood" or the beat version of the More theme. One would have liked to hear more of these (but even better in a stereo mix! I know, I'm repeating myself!).
The outtakes "Roger's Boogie" and "Song 1", for example, which are included on the '68 CD, show completely new facets of Pink Floyd that have hardly been heard elsewhere. Recorded in Los Angeles, if the info is to be believed, they reveal a clear US West Coast aswell as an East Coast influence. Here the band almost sounds like Vanilla Fudge in places (with the vocal arrangements and the chord changes) or like the Californian studio band Touch on their only progressive album, also recorded in 1968.

CD 5 is deservedly devoted entirely to the excellent performance of The Man & The Journey broadcast on Dutch radio in 1969. (A real highlight, even if these recordings have been circulating in collector's circles for a long time).
Missing, however, if we stay in 1969, is the excellent Interstellar Overdrive version, which was recorded for Ummagumma but omitted due to time constraints. Why can't it finally be found here? (It has been available on bootleg for a long time, in excellent quality).

CD 6 again contains nothing new, the BBC session from July 1970 and a live version of Atom Heart Mother from Montreux. Again, the question is why wasn't the entire Montreux concert released? The sound quality would have been quite good enough. And that would certainly have been more interesting than the hundredth rehash of the widely available BBC sessions from that year. (Nothing against these, but as I said, you already know enough of the material).

 CD 7: another highlight of the box: more outtakes from the Zabriskie Point recording session in Rome, which, however, already took place at the end of 1969 and are therefore actually wrongly sorted in the 1970 package. Unfortunately, one has the impression that some of the tracks are faded out far too early. The real PF fan would certainly be happy if the band (similar to what the Grateful Dead do) could decide to finally release the entire Zabriskie Point material together as a CD box. That would certainly make 3 or 4 discs. A dream that might one day become reality? At the moment, you have to compile the material yourself from a wide variety of sources.
It is great to hear the original studio version of AHM without orchestration and choir. Here everyone can finally understand for themselves why the band found the piece a bit dull. An important contemporary document!

CD 8 contains a part of the "Nothing" session, the song that later became the legendary "Echoes" - certainly the most mature, best piece from the band's early phase. Historically again very interesting, musically not quite so. Nevertheless, one would have liked to hear more song snippets/outtakes here, too. Instead, you get to hear the '71 BBC session, and, brace yourself, again completely superfluously in MONO! A real annoyance, as this concert is in circulation on countless bootlegs in the far more interesting, contemporary stereo mix. What's the point of that, please? Again: quality control gone wrong! On top of that, the Blues track from the same recording date was banned and is on the BONUS CD, and also the wrong date is mentioned there. Funnily enough, it can be heard in stereo (!). I can't believe it! Someone missed it again.

CD 9: This is the most superfluous CD of the whole box: a remastered (! - remastered, not remixed! as it says) version of the LP Obscured by Clouds. It's not exactly the case that Pink Floyd's back catalogue is poor in remastered versions of their regular records. This 2016 version offers no real added value. And whether the sound of the remastering is that much better remains to be seen. Many have already commented on it and most of them find the sound rather catastrophic, as it is much too treble-heavy. That may be a matter of taste. I think it's okay, even if it's not outstanding.
It would have been something completely different if the record had actually been remixed, if it had been an alternative version, say, with a new guitar track here, a different Rick Wright keyboard solo there ... something like that. That would have been a dream. But as it is, this CD is one of the biggest annoyances of the box (apart from the "Seabirds" faux pas, see above).
By the way, it would have made much more sense to place the CD version of Live in Pompeii here instead. In my box version, however, this was also supplied as a bonus CD (CD 10) in a cardboard slipcase. Another slip-up in the production!

CD 11: Here you will find a hodgepodge of tracks that were obviously not considered good enough to appear on the "regular" box CDs. Well, what can I say, I had hoped to finally hear the 1967 BBC version in a good sound quality - and was bitterly disappointed. With the exception of "Flaming", the sound quality is rather lousy - still. There are even bootleg versions that sound better than this one. A real pity.
Unfortunately, this also applies to the two tracks by The Committee (the opening and closing sequences of the film; the jam fragments in the style of Careful were not even released; apparently they couldn't find the master tapes) and the music improvised live on TV for the 1969 moon landing under the title "Moonhead". Here, as hoped, there is unfortunately no improvement in sound compared to earlier bootleg versions. However, the latter can be heard in a somewhat longer version than before. After all.
The 74 Wembley Echoes live version, on the other hand, which forms the conclusion of the CD, is, as was to be expected, recorded in outstandingly good sound quality. It is a previously unreleased BBC recording (apart from bootleg versions).
But what the song is doing here in this box remains the producer's secret, because with the year of origin 1974 it clearly goes beyond the given time frame of 1965-1972. This Echoes version would have been better off in the extended Dark Side of the Moon box (which also features the accompanying live version of Dark Side from the same 1974 concert). 

CONCLUSIONS:
All in all, this extremely expensive box is rather a disappointment for the hardcore Pink Floyd collector. Which is a pity. With a little more effort, expense and care, something really great could have been created. Unfortunately, this chance was missed. The Early Years box set is unfortunately not the great success it could have been. Nevertheless, it contains some real highlights.
Therefore only 3 out of 5 stars.

Leider nicht der ganz große Wurf!


Pink Floyd-Fans tendieren dazu, exzessive Sammler zu sein, und so muss man schon etwas ganz Besonderes bieten, wenn man ihnen eine Raritäten-Box verkaufen will, die nicht gerade im Niedrigpreis-Sektor angesiedelt ist. Unzählige Bootleg-LPs/-CDs und auch TV-Mitschnitte kursieren bereits seit Jahren, wenn nicht gar Jahrzehnten, und wenn dann die entsprechenden Aufnahmen "legal" veröffentlicht werden, erwartet der Hardcore-Fan, dass sie dann wenigstens in der bestmöglichen klanglichen Version erscheinen.
Um es gleich vorweg zu sagen: Nicht nur in dieser Hinsicht ist diese umfangreiche Box stellenweise eine Enttäuschung.
Aber der Reihe nach.

– Zunächst einmal die Aufmachung:
Etwas eigenwillig, dieser übergroße schwarze Schuhkarton, aber okay, wenn man weiß, dass dieser vom Layout her an den ersten Bandbus angelehnt ist, dann kann man das schon okay finden. Cover- und generelles Artwork von PF waren schon immer sehr speziell in zumeist von herausragender Qualität (Storm Thorgenson/HIPGNOSIS). Insofern: Gut, da hat sich jemand wenigstens Gedanken gemacht. Auch die zahlreichen Inlays, Posternachdrucke und Vinyl-Singles-Reprints gehen in Ordung. Was aber ein echtes Ärgernis ist, ist, dass die Filme gleich in ZWEI Versionen erscheinen, als DVDs und überflüssigerweise auch als Blue-Ray-Disks. Wer braucht so was? Wer braucht schon zwei Formate des selben Inhalts. Ein entweder/oder wäre hier angesagt gewesen, denn der Käufer zahlt hier für ein und dasselbe Produkt quasi zweimal. Mehr als ärgerlich! Reine Geldmacherei kännte man hier unterstellen.
– Die ausgewählten Filmdokumente
Größtenteils erfreulich, vor allem die frühen Aufnahmen in guter Qualität; herausragend v. a. das KQED-Material aus San Francisco von 1970, sehr gut remastered. Ärgerlich aber, dass beim Pompeii-Film auf den aufgemotzten, eher geschmacklosen Dirctor's Cut zurückgegriffen wird. Bei einer Retrospektive wäre die originale, mittlerweile seltene Ursprungsversion, die optisch wesentlich ansprechender und authentischer ist, eher angebracht gewesen. Schade.
Unverzeilich ist, dass weder der Film "MORE" noch "LA VALLEE" mit Untertitel erscheinen. Beide Filme sind sehr wohl untertitelt erhältlich, und bei "The Committee" hat man das ja auch hinbekommen. Hallo, Qualitätskontrolle???
Bei der Auswahl hätte man selbstverständlich auch gerne den Anthony-Stern-Film "San Francisco" von 1966 mit einer einmaligen Interstellar-Overdrive-Version dabei gehabt, aber Fehlanzeige! (Rechtliche Gründe?) Weshalb Antonionis ZABRISKIE POINT-Film fehlt, dagegen aber die beiden schon genannten Schroeder-Filme dabei sind, auch das bleibt rätselhaft.
Erfreulich dagegen: Erstmals offiziell zu sehen ist der legendäre Jam mit Frank Zappa bei Interstellar Overdrive vom Amougies Festival 1969. Auch wenn er nicht komplett gefilmt ist und er eher dokumentarischen als musikalischen Wert hat, doch das ist sicher Geschmackssache. (Man hat den Eindruck, dass Zappa sich doch ziemlich zurückhält.)

Zu den CDs
CD 1: Es ist schön, das gesamte 1965-Material in gutem Sound zu hören; die legendären Songs In The Beechwoods, Vegetable Man und auch Scream Thy Last Scream sind quasi Pflicht und auch in gutem Sound wiedergegeben, doch warum noch einmal die altbekannten Singles Arnold Layne, Emily, Paintbox etc, die sowieso schon jeder hat? Und wenn, dann doch bitte in einem Stereo-Mix (wie man sie bereits von Paintbox, Apples and Oranges kennt!. Leider wieder Fehlanzeige.
CD 2: Live in Stockholm; ist okay, allerdings kaum ein Mehrwert zur bekannten Bootleg-Version.

Da habe ich mehr an Infos erwartet. Viel mehr!
CD 3 Auch hier wider ein Mischmasch aus überflüssigen Singles (leider wieder in Mono und nicht in Stereo, z. B. Careful, das 1971 auf der Relics-LP sehr wohl als Stereo-Mix erhältlich war) und durchaus interessanten BBC-Tracks der Zeit. Allesamt zwar nicht Neues, aber in sehr guter Sound-Qualität.
CD 4 BBC-Sessions von 1969 sowie Mischpult-Mitschnitt aus Amsterdam ohne Vocals, allesamt unter Sammlern bekannt, aber hier wiederum in exzellenter Qualität. Geht in Ordnung. Ein Riesen-Ärgernis jedoch Track 4, der hier fälschlicherweise als "Seabirds" (aus dem Original-Soundtrack von More) angekündigt wird, tatsächlich handelt es sich aber nur um einen alternativen (Mono- , was sonst? ärgerlich!) Take von "Quicksilver". HALLO? Wie kann so etwas passieren? Ich bin einer von den vermutlich Hunderten (Tausenden?) Käufern, die diese Box vor allem wegen dieses Songs gekauft haben (der zwar im Film zu hören ist, aber nie offiziell erschienen ist), und die sich danach dann extrem darüber ärgern, NICHT DAS ZU BEKOMMEN, WAS DRAUFSTEHT!

Zusammenfassend zu den ersten 4 CDs ist zu sagen, dass es sehr enttäuschen ist, dass nicht viel mehr echte Outtakes aus den Studio-LP-Sessions zu hören sind. So etwas hätte das Sammler-Herz wirklich höher schlagen lassen. Löbliche Ausnahmen sind etwa "Hollywood" oder die Beat-Version vom More-Theme. Hiervon hätte man gerne mehr gehört (allerdings noch lieber in einem Stereo-Mix! Ich weiß, ich wiederhole mich!).
Die Outtakes "Roger's Boogie" und "Song 1" etwa, die auf der 68er CD enthalten sind, zeigen ganz neue Facetten von Pink Floyd, wie man sie ansonsten kaum gehört hat. In Los Angeles aufgenommen, wenn man der Info glauben darf, lassen sie einen deutlichen US-Westcoast bzw. Eastcoast-Einfluss erkennen. Hier klingt die Band stellenweise fast wie Vanilla Fudge (bei den Gesangsarrangements und den Akkordwechseln) oder aber wie die kalifornische Studioband Touch auf ihrem einzigen progressisven Album, ebenfalls 1968 aufgenommen.

CD 5 widmet sich verdientermaßen gänzlich der vom holländischen Radio 1969 übertragenen hervorragenden Performance von The Man & The Journey. (Ein echter Highlight, auch wenn auch diese Aufnahmen schon lange in Sammlerkreisen zirkulieren.)
Vermisst wird allerding, wenn wir uns im Jahr 1969 aufhalten, die hervorragende Interstellar-Overdrive-Version, die für Ummagumma mitgeschnitten wurde, aus Zeitgründen aber weggelassen wurde. Warum ist sie nicht hier endlich zu finden? (Auf Bootleg gibt es sie schon lange, in herrausragender Qualität.)
CD 6 enthält wieder nichts Neues, die BBC-Session vom Julli 1970 und eine Live-Version von Atom Heart Mother aus Montreux. Auch hier stellt sich die Frage, warum wurde nicht das gesamte Montreux-Konzert veröffentlicht? Die Sound-Qualität hätte das durchaus hergegeben. Und das wäre sicherlich interessanter gewesen als der hunderste Aufguss der weit verbreiteten BBC-Sessions aus diesem Jahr. (Nichts gegen diese, aber wie gesagt, man kennt das Material bereits zu genüge.)
CD 7: ein weiterer Highlight der Box: weitere Outtakes aus der Zabriskie-Point-Aufnahmesession aus Rom, die allerdings bereits Ende 1969 stattgefunden haben und insofern in dem 1970er Package eigentlich falsch einsortiert sind. Leider hat man den Eindruck, dass die Stücke teils viel zu früh ausgeblendet werden. Der echte PF-Fan würde sich sicher freuen, wenn sich die Band (ähnlich wie das etwa Grateful Dead handhaben) dazu entschließen könnte, das gesamte Zabriskie-Point-Material endlich zusammengefasst als CD-Box herauszubringen. Da würden sicherlich 3 bis 4 Scheiben zusammenkommen. Ein Traum, der vielleicht einmal Wirklichkeit wird? Momentan muss man sich das Material aus den unterschiedlichsten Quellen selbst zusammenstellen.
Toll ist es, auch die ursprüngliche Studio-Version von AHM ohne Orchestrierung und Chor zu hören. Hier kann jeder nun endlich selbst nachvollziehen, warum die Band das Stück so doch ein wenig dröge fand. Ein wichtiges Zeitdokument!
CD 8 enthält einen Teil der "Nothing"-Session, des Songs, der später zum legendären "Echoes" wurde – sicherlich das ausgereifteste, beste Stück aus der Frühphase der Band. Historisch wiederum sehr interessant, musikalisch nicht ganz so. Auch hier hätte man nichtsdestotrotz gerne weitere Songschnipsel/Outtakes gehört. Stattdessen bekommt man die 71er-BBC-Session zu hören, und, man halte sich fest, wiederum vollkommen überflüssigerweise in MONO! Ein echtes Ärgernis, da dieses Konzert auf unzähligen Bootlegs im weitaus interessanteren, zeitgemäßeren Stereo-Mix im Umlauf ist. Was bitte soll das??? Wiederum: Qualitätskontrolle gepennt! Noch dazu wurde das dazugehörige Blues-Stück vom selben Aufnahmetermin auf die BONUS-CD verbannt, und dort wird auch noch das falsche Datum genannt. Lustigerweise ist es da aber in Stereo (!) zu hören. Ich schmeiß mich weg! Da hat wieder jemand gepennt.
CD 9: Hier findet sich die überflüssigste CD der gesamten Box: eine remasterte (! – remastered, nicht re-mixed! wie es da steht) Version von der LP Obscured by Clouds. Es ist ja nicht gerade so, dass der Backkatalog von Pink Floyd arm wäre an remasterten Versionen ihrer regulären Platten. Diese 2016-Version bieten nun so gar keinen wirklichen Mehrwert. Und ob der Sound des Remasterings so viel besser ist, das sei dahingestellt. Viele haben sich dazu schon geäußert und die meisten finden den Sound eher katastrophal, da viel zu höhenlastig. Das mag Geschmackssache sein. Ich finde ihn ganz okay, wenn auch nicht herausragend.
Etwas ganz anderes wäre es gewesen, wenn die Platte tatsächlich remixed worden wäre, quasi in einer alternativen Version zu hören gewesen wäre, hier eine neue weitere Gitarrenspur, dort ein anderes Rick-Wright-Keyboardsolo ... so in der Art. Das wäre ein Traum gewesen. So aber ist diese CD mit das größte Ärgernis der Box (abgesehen von dem "Seabirds"-Faux pas, s. o.).
Wesentlich mehr Sinn hätte es im Übrigen gemacht, hier stattdessen die CD-Version von Live in Pompeii zu platzieren. Diese wurde bei meiner Box-Version jedoch zusätzlich als eine Bonus-CD (CD 10) im Pappschuber mitgeliefert. Ein weiterer Patzer bei der Herstellung!
CD 11: Hier findet sich ein Sammelsurium von Tracks, die offenbar als nicht gut genug befunden wurden, um auf den "regulären" Box-CDs zu erscheinen. Na ja. was soll man sagen, ich hatte erhofft, die 1967 BBC-Version endlich in einer guten Soundqualität zu hören – und wurde bitter enttäuscht. Mit Ausnahme von "Flaming" ist die Klangqualität eher mies – nach wie vor. Es gibt sogar Bootleg-Versionen, die besser klingen, als diese hier. Wirklich schade.
Leider gilt das auch dür die zwei Tracks von The Committee (die Eröffnungs- und die Schlusssequenz des Filmes; die Jam-Fragmente a la Careful hat man gar nicht erst veröffentlicht; offenbar konnte man die Masterbänder nicht finden) und die zur Mondlandung 1969 live im TV improvisierte Musik unter dem Titel "Moonhead". Hier gibt es, wie erhofft, leider keinerlei Klangverbesserung zu früheren Bootleg-Versionen. Allerdings ist das Letztere in einer etwas längeren Version zu hören als bisher. Immerhin.
Die 74er Wembley-Echoes-Live-Version, die den Abschluss der CD bildet, ist hingegen, wie zu erwarten war, in herausragend guter Tonqualität aufgenommen. Es handelt sich um einen bislang unveröffentlichtern BBC-Mitschnitt (abgesehen von Bootleg-Versionen).
Allein, was der Song hier in dieser Box zu suchen hat, bleibt das Geheimnis des Herstellers, denn mit dem Ursprungsjahr 1974 sprengt er deutlich den vorgegebenen zeitlichen Rahmen von 1965-1972. Diese Echoes-Version wäre besser bei der erweiterten Dark Side of the Moon-Box aufgehoben gewesen (bei der auch die dazugehörige Live Version von Dark Side vom selben Konzert 1974 zu hören ist).

FAZIT:
Alles in allem ist diese extrem teure Box für den hardcore Pink-Floyd-Sammler eher eine Enttäuschung. Was schade ist. Mit ein bisschen mehr Mühe, Aufwand und Sorgfalt hätte da etwas wirklich Großartiges entstehen können. Diese Chance wurde leider verpasst. Die The Early Years-Box ist leider nicht der große Wurf geworden, die sie hätte sein können. Trotzdem enthält sie einige wirkliche Highlights.
Deshalb nur 3 von 5 Sternen.

The Citradels - Honey (Video; AUSTRALIA 2015)






Honey is the newest offering from the ever prolific Melbourne based band The Citradels.

Recorded over a 5 day period inside a disused butter factory in rural Victoria. Honey is the second key hole peep show into their 6th album Are They Still Here? set for vinyl release on psychic Ric Records in January 2016.

Honey features comely vocals, with Ennio Morricone style twang arrangements. Depicting young Woody’s demise into perversion, the video perfectly sums up the sickly sweet trappings of teenage love.

60ies inspired psychedelic pop/rock that has everything fans of that genre will love: dreamy melodies, backward guitars, and a quite relaxed over all atmosphere...To my mind come indeed some songs by PRIMAL SCREEN. Recommended! I'd love to hear more from that guy!
