The countdown is on until the first Fast and Furious 7 teaser trailer screeches onto the net. To mark the last seven days before we get some quality footage, Universal is releasing something special each day for fans.
So here it is: the first real poster for Fast and Furious 7, thankfully with the 'Fast and' intact after yesterday's banner (below) that only read 'Furious 7'.
Seeing as how Fast Five was called Fast Five and most people just referred to the sixth as Fast Six, it would be a bit weird to have to start calling it the 'Furious' franchise suddenly. On the other hand, I suppose the Furious is in keeping with the idea of vengeance which apparently, according to this poster, is about to hit home.
Lest we forget, this will be our last chance to see Paul Walker doing his thing in these films. It is only a month until the first anniversary of his death and I'm sure this film will give him a fitting send off. RIP.
I'm also hoping for big things from this film as Saw director James Wan took the wheel for this installment. Let's hope he steers the franchise in a thrilling direction with newbies Jason Statham and Kurt Russell on board!
Like the posters or had enough of this franchise?

Fast and Furious Yahoo blog gets a new name
A while back, the editors at Yahoo asked all of us contributors if we would like to have a go at naming their dedicated blog pages. They wanted a name that would strike a chord with fans for each of the different sections they have on the Yahoo Movies website. As I am a regular contributor for the Fast and Furious page, I decided to give it a shot giving the page a name I thought would help it appeal to fans of the franchise. I sent in a few options and one of mine was picked which meant I won a reward of £50. Not bad for coming up with a few words.
The title I came up with is a direct quote from the first film, '10 Seconds or Less'. Series star Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto says 'I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit. For those ten seconds or less, I'm free'. It reminded me of the mantras that Patrick Swayze's Bodhi was always banging on about in Point Break and I thought it kind of summed up the ethos of the first film if not the whole franchise and certainly says plenty about the character of Toretto.
This was a few months ago that the competition to find a suitable name was made and ever since I've been pumping out constant news stories on Fast and Furious 7 and it is only this last week that the new title has been used in a sexy looking new banner across the top of the page. You can head over to Yahoo's Fast and Furious page here to check it out. Here it is below:
Not only did I give the blog its name but I'm also filling the page with my news stories and loving every minute. Here are the latest news stories from the set of the highly anticipated Fast and Furious 7, I hope you might go check some of them out!

Recent reviews at Filmoria: Machete Kills, The Conspiracy, Snitch and more
Another day, another blog post that is simply pointing you in the
direction of more of my writing around the web; this time to my recent reviews
for Filmoria.
Cinema reviews include two documentaries; How to Survive a Plague and More Than
Honey as well as the incredibly silly but quite fun Machete Kills. All the rest
are DVD and Blu-Ray releases: Brian De Palma's The Fury, Dwayne Johnson in
Snitch and a trio of horror films. First there is horror mock-doc The
Conspiracy, then heartthrob Luke Evans is a psycho in No One Lives and finally
there is the sci-fi horror crossbreed that is Dark Skies. Click the titles to
check out the reviews:
Definitely not a documentary on an imagined
future pandemic. How to Survive a Plague instead deals with a threat that has
already wiped millions off the planet: AIDS.
Sandwiched between classics Carrie and Blow Out sits Brian De Palma‘s
The Fury. It may not have the reputation of those two but I found it to be a
highly entertaining horror/thriller experiment casting Kirk Douglas in the role
of aging action hero.
Snitch is not quite your typical big, dumb The
Rock movie. It features Susan Sarandon for a start and is based on a true story
about a father forced to extreme measures to help his drug busted son.
In The Conspiracy, two filmmakers Jim and Aaron are making a documentary
on conspiracy theories before they get sucked in to a dangerous world of secret
societies
Machete Kills is the gloriously OTT sequel to Robert Rodriguez's orginal
film based on the titular anti-hero played by Danny Trejo.
Luke Evans plays a real nasty piece of work in this very violent horror
that should have been more than it is.
Markus Imhoof’s documentary More Than Honey attempts to get to the
bottom of the problem of why bees are dying out and what this could mean for
human life on the planet.
From the producers behind Paranormal Activity, Dark Skies has spooky
goings on in a family filled suburban house but it isn't ghosts this time but
aliens that are bothering the characters.
Seen any of these? What did you think?

Fast and Furious 6 Review
Fast and Furious 6 is not the best of the series but it does what the franchise is known for very well; crashing, smashing, jumping, racing and chasing cars. It also adds in a great deal of excellent hand to hand and gun toting combat to the mix with some real punch present in the fight scenes.
Fast and Furious 6 continues the supposedly developing mythology of the franchise with the crew all living off their millions in a sunny paradise but banished from the USA for their previous crimes. When pictures of Dom's lost love Letty emerge, Agent Hobbs gets the crew to help him out in taking out a baddie and getting their missing 'family' member back.
The set up is so brusquely taken care of that there is barely a moment for you to take in exactly how ridiculous it all is. The exposition in the early scenes is painfully delivered and the cast keep such worryingly straight faces, that you wonder if the whole film is going to be this serious. The word 'family' is forced down your throat many times to make you really remember what all these ridiculous later actions scenes are all about. The sentiment does not stop there with family values permeating the representation of the characters at every turn. Wives are meant to stay at home and look after babies, only to become damsels in distress when needed and the whole film even finishes with a lovely scene of a 'family' dinner complete with saying grace before eating.
It's not like you watch a Fast and Furious movie much for the characters or to deeply consider the representation of women though. The action is where it's at and most of it is stunning. There are some jaw dropping set pieces and for the most part, not too much CG augmentation. Some moments stretch belief way beyond the realms of possibility (but at least provide one OMG moment in the trailer) but on the whole the action is well choreographed and occasionally spectacular. And that is what we came for.
The problems lie with the straight faced cheesy dialogue and the attempts to get deeper into the relationships of these characters. It's a shame as Fast and Furious 6 could be fun and funnier if it just dropped the extra baggage.
