I've been distinguishing in my mind between a mural and a graffiti. Murals, I thought, were painted with the permission and often with the sponsorship of the owner of the space, and were usually pretty ambitious and well-thought-out. Graffiti (which is how I would categorize this one) are painted on any wall the "artist" chooses, often with haste and with less skill. Though there are some pretty skillful graffiti artists, even the ones that paint on railroad or subway cars and on other spaces where they are really not wanted. And occasionally a town will reserve a wall for anyone who wants to paint and graffiti artists add to this.
Tom, our ALDI is plain, too - I love it! The new ones are "fancy", narrow and you never find anything...
s.c., well, I think art is to the watching eye, so no worries if you do not see a lion.
Mae, I agree - a bit. Grafitti (here) usually is rather words. This I´d still count as mural, if a not so detailed one. Plus... this is Germany. We´re a tad behind the world. There are murals that people pay for, but only few. Give us say... 10, 15 years (not even kidding!).
Is that the head of a lion, with a wide-open mouth. I see all kinds of things there. Hat's off to you for identifying it. It's was fun trying to look at it from different angles. :)

Not the usual size I expect of a lion! Well spotted.
Thank you. The City of Henry The Lion has lions of all sizes :-)
You find an unbelievable number of lions.
Well, this is The City of Henry The Lion :-)

I don't see the lion in this mural. Have to look better.

Thanks for the little lion Iris, it's still fun to find even a small mural.
It feels a bit abstract!
They are kind of also the best at times, Sami :-)
William, yes, not too traditional...
It sort of hard to see the lion.
Coffee is on
You should visit me in The City of Henry The Lion and get a look for it ;-)

I´m glad you had fun with it :-)
I simply assumed it´s a lion as we live in The City of Henry the Lion.
Small lion, but an interesting one! You find the coolest things!
Thank you, I do my best! :-)
