At Guildford#1

Last year to the end of our Perth-holiday Grace and P took me to Guildford.

Note the couple on the bench? Newly in love, I´d say.
Next we, or I saw:

Our bloggy-friends always find non-tourist places for us!
This  is no statue, it is ...

It was very hard to capture due to the sun, I tried my best.

It can kinda speak, at least at daytime.
The engraving starts with "We ask no favours, Other than to line our portals fair, And with the Eucalyptus leaves,

 I found a.pdf on it:
"The Guildford Association designated 2009 as ‘The Year of the Sugar Gums’ in celebration of the 10th anniversary of an agreement between the City of Swan and the Guildford community to preserve Guildford’s iconic sugar gums....

A new commemorative bench was gifted by the City of Swan, reflecting the long-standing connection between community and local government around Guildford’s sugar gums."

Then we found this:

2015, when the Giants were in Perth, for the last parade even the Prime Minister showed up, ANZACs honored those who, 100 years ago came back, dead or alive.
Many, many wore poppies as a sign.

P presented me as good bye with a sachet of the seeds - it still hangs at my PC, "in legacy", with a soldier on it.

The series:

"This is how we shopped in the 20th century

 1928

Sales interns in a department store are reminded of the finer points of clothing etiquette."

Henry's 🦁 alter ego, the Black Swan 🐣:

More to come...

Thanks for taking us back to Australia. Especially since it's a very very cold morning at my house, and that parks looks lovely and warm. And it would be since it's summer there. I like that bench. Have a super rest of your weekend and start to the new week. hugs-Erika

Reading about the battles of World War I is definitely amazing, and I think the Australians remember them better than we do in the US. Nice photos.
