Last year to the end of our Perth-holiday Grace and P took me to Guildford.
Next we, or I saw:
This is no statue, it is ...
It can kinda speak, at least at daytime.
The engraving starts with "We ask no favours, Other than to line our portals fair, And with the Eucalyptus leaves,
I found a.pdf on it:
"The Guildford Association designated 2009 as ‘The Year of the Sugar Gums’ in celebration of the 10th anniversary of an agreement between the City of Swan and the Guildford community to preserve Guildford’s iconic sugar gums....
A new commemorative bench was gifted by the City of Swan, reflecting the long-standing connection between community and local government around Guildford’s sugar gums."

2015, when the Giants were in Perth, for the last parade even the Prime Minister showed up, ANZACs honored those who, 100 years ago came back, dead or alive.
Many, many wore poppies as a sign.
P presented me as good bye with a sachet of the seeds - it still hangs at my PC, "in legacy", with a soldier on it.
The series:
"This is how we shopped in the 20th century
Sales interns in a department store are reminded of the finer points of clothing etiquette."

Thank you, dear friend! No plans yet.... You?

...Iris, thanks for sharing your "summer vacation" down under on this cold winter morning.
Beautiful captures of your visit to Guildford!
Thanks for taking us back to Australia. Especially since it's a very very cold morning at my house, and that parks looks lovely and warm. And it would be since it's summer there. I like that bench. Have a super rest of your weekend and start to the new week. hugs-Erika

It is -5˚C here this morning so seeing summer and tree benches is nice, Iris.
So interesting about the trees! The bench is a beauty too.
Very cold here today, -9C.
Lovely photos of Perth
.It was -1C, now 1C, but snow. Can´t wait for Spring
-9C ,ewwww. Yes ist was a wonderful day back then!
Yes, I miss it.
The bench is very nice, I like it.
To the trees!
The metal bench with the trees is lovely.
Lovely story of the trees. Hard to believe your trip to OZ was almost a year ago. Time flies
Reading about the battles of World War I is definitely amazing, and I think the Australians remember them better than we do in the US. Nice photos.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Yes, such a surprise, too.
Yes, time so runs! And I am still not done sharing!
If we only could live in peace...
