Back at the Guildford-hotel , it was established in 1885-86- you find it´s history here (with photo-gallery).
In 2008 a fire destroyed huge parts of
the hotel, only in 2016 the local community started a fierce campain to
safe this historical place.
The bricks were handmade by convicts. I like how they left the debris..
Upstairs you find this cozy place ...
They didn´t rebuild the floor - means loss of seating, but makes the place special (I could not go too near, though).
More to come.

The series:
"This is how we shopped in the 20th century
Did you know that the first color televisions hit American stores in late September 1951? The technology was primitive and few could afford the luxury. However, in the following decade, color television became standard in many households and sales boomed."

Neat way of preserving memories
Love those beauties!
Yes, it is a great place.
That is a cool hotel. I love the rustic upper fireplace. You can tell it was old. Too bad part of it burnt, but I am glad that people thought enough of it to rebuild and save it. And that is a really cool cat from Kathy. Happy birthday too dear Iris. I hope you did/are doing something fun for your big day. hugs-Erika
Happy Birthday, Iris.

Yes und Danke!
Colour TV in 1951?? Australia didn't get colour until much later, 70s I think. Next time I go to Perth I will go to see that hotel for myself.
25.08.1967 in Berlin they started color-TV, but we had b/w for much longer, too! Yes, have a starter on me in that hotel, please!(I didn´t manage to eat it all up and took the rest home).
The swans look at ease.
