Crazy Amigos Challenge

The challenge today at Crazy Amigos is to incorporate a proverb or saying into a card. I used a saying by Mother Theresa. The stamp is from Stampabilities.
The image is a photo stamp from Stampsmith, stamped on glossy cardstock with Ancient Page ink.

Theme Thursday

The challenge at Theme Thursday of "couples" helped me get this wedding card made. The image is by Shabby Cottage Studio. The sentiment is a a stamp by PSX/Inkadinkado. It's one of my favorites for weddings -- so elegant.

Happy Valentine's Day

If this looks slightly familiar, check a few posts back. I decided there's nothing that can't be altered -- including one of my own cards. Actually, DH had seen this card on my desk and commented, "Oh, that's very nice." So I made it into a bookmark for him for Valentine's Day (he's an avid reader), changing it a little so it wouldn't be too feminine. He was more than likely drawn to the colors. I've discovered whenever my son or husband comment on a card, it's always because they are drawn to its masculine colors. I've learned not to show them a pink card and ask them how they like it.

Stencil and Stamp

After a horribly long day at work and busy evening I realized I had not made one single thing for Winterstamp and refused to go to bed until I did so! The stencil and stamp challenge caught my attention. I don't have any stencils, but I created one by punching four hearts on a strip of paper . I stamped over my template with French Script (Hero Arts). I then added red distress ink directly over the punched hearts.
I now had a positive and negative stencil to make a card.
For the card below I backed my template with a strip of Cuttlebug embossed black cardstock. I had swiped white ink across the raised part which gave it a nice effect. The sentiment on this card is from Studio G. Background paper is by Creative Imaginations. This card below is the result of my stencil. I added a sentiment by Hero Arts. I also stamped the French Script with white ink onto black cardstock in order to make my background paper.

Time for Love

Well, here is my final sample for Winterstamp and my male Valentine challenge. This card came about as I was making the clock for my office which I showed here. I wanted to use black hands for the clock, so was left with these gold ones. I thought it would be cute to make a card with a heart and these hands for a clock. I stamped some flourishes from Autumn Leaves on my heart and inked the edges of it so it would stand out more against this Seven Gypsies paper. I then used a chip from a countertop sample I got at the hardware store and I stamped this Love definition from PSX on it. The sentiment was computer generated.

Light My Fire

Tomorrow is the first day of Winterstamp over at Two Peas in a Bucket. As I've said before, I'm hosting a challenge to create Valentines for the men in our life -- husbands, boyfriends, fathers, sons, brothers, etc. This card is obviously for the first of those categories:).

To create this card I applied Distress Ink (Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade)directly onto my card and also onto the square chipboard. The flourishes are by Autumn Leaves. The heart stamp is by Studio G/Hampton Arts. I stamped that twice with black ink, once on light brown cardstock and once on darker brown cardstock. I then cut them out, cut them in half, and placed the top of one with the bottom of the other. I used a couple different alphabet stamps to create my sentiment.

CI Valentine

I loved making this card -- this is the kind of card I could spend all day making. I used an image from Crafty Individuals as well as stamps from Stampington (large heart), flower border and cherish definition (Hero Arts), and words on tag (StampinUp). I stamped the large heart in pink pigment ink and clear embossed it, then cut it out and attached it to my card.

Magenta Stamps

The three stamps I used for this card all came from one set of Magenta stamps. I stamped my birds twice and then cut them out and attached them over the original impression. Then I colored the larger image and flower with chalk pencils for a softer look. My background paper is from the Old World series from DCWV.

I've not even put away the Christmas stamps yet and now I've got Valentine's Day on the brain. Must be the new CardMaker Magazine that arrived in the mail yesterday showing one of the cards I submitted for Valentine's Day.

I stamped a flourish design on these "ghost" letters from Heidi Swapp with Black Staz-on. For the heart I stamped some text background from Hampton Arts onto cardstock and then cut out the design and placed it behind the "ghost" heart.

Wedding Card

My husband is best man at a wedding this weekend. The groom happens to be a fan of my cards and has often asked me to make cards. It was so nice to be able to make this card for him to celebrate this very special occasion in his life.

I was afraid my husband would be put off by the flower and lace, but he was quite happy with it. I think the deep brown in the background paper balanced it out some.

Altered Tin

Since I just returned from my trip to London (alas, it was London, Kentucky, not UK) I thought I'd show something I made a couple weeks ago -- an altered tin. The heart shaped tin is from Foof-la-la. I first covered it with Alcohol Inks (Ranger), but you can't see the sides and bottom from this picture. You'll have to trust me that it turned out very nicely:0)

I covered the top with paper and ribbon from K&Co., a flourish stamp by Rhonna Farrer, and the bird image is from the book Memories of a Lifetime. Inside I used more images by MOAL and Crafty Secrets. Stamps by Sugarloaf, StampinUp, Stampington & Stampabilities.

Wedding Card

As I was looking through the new StampinUp catalog deciding what was going to be on my list of things to buy, I realized I needed to take another look at what I already have and see if I may be duplicating stamps. So I made this embossed background with my flourish stamps from Stampington and was able to cross off the baroque background stamp I had on my list.

I then decided to use this piece to make a card for a wedding we were going to next week -- my husband's co-worker. I used an image from Crafty Secrets. The black and cream flourish behind it is from a border of some paper I had. I thought it added just a bit of whimsy.

I showed the card to DH last night. He said we won't be needing it, the wedding is off.

Happy Anniversary

Next week is my 24th wedding anniversary. I made this card using the same stamp from Queens Dresser Drawers that I used a few posts ago.

I stamped it on vellum this time and backed it with some polka dot paper. Gives it a completely different look.The sentiment is from Art Impressions.

I am quite pleased with this card -- except for one not-so-minor mistake. Did you spot it? Before I pointed it out? I know my DH won't, that's why I am leaving my card the way it is.

Love

My son is going to a wedding tonight and needed a quick card. (My older sister warned me I'd probably be making cards for my son for the rest of his life -- and she could be right.) But, let's face it, could you resist this face? So Mom cooked up this card for him using a new stamp from Queens Dresser Drawers. I like the brown, although I know it's not your typical wedding color.

Love Bird

Here's a color combination I like quite a bit -- black, white and red. June being the month of weddings, this could serve as a wedding or anniversary card.
This bird collage stamp is one of my favorites. It's from Stampington.
I stamped it with Memories dye ink on a heavy mulberry paper so I could cut it out and it would keep its shape.
The paper is from Bo-Bunny Press.
The brads I used on the bookplate are those self-adhesive faux brads. Those are the greatest little things. I have them in a bunch of colors. No worrying about the ends showing through on the inside of the card.

To Love and to Cherish

This wedding or anniversary card was made using a Cuttlebug background which I then outlined with gold Krylon pen.

The heart stamp (All Night Media) was gold embossed on gold paper.
I stamped the sentiment
(PSX/Inkadinkado) on black paper and gold embossed that.

I added a strip of black script paper across the bottom held in place by three gold brads.
