Time, patience, light, shade...Tempo, paciência, luz, sombra...

I am reposting that post I did in August 12, 2013 in its entirety since I like to rethink about these wise quotes and because I enjoy so much these flowers and tree I have in my garden too.

“The strongest of all warriors are these two — Time and Patience.” Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace.

Every year this beautiful orange flower blooms in my backyard. I did not plant this flower anywhere else in my garden. I have no idea where it came from... It lays dormant all year long till the spring when them urges it upward. It is Hippeastrum striatum, from the family Amaryllidaceae, native to Brazil.
Ela é o Hippeastrum striatum, pertencente à família Amaryllidaceae, nativa do Brasil.

“All the diversity, all the charm, and all the beauty of life are made up of light and shade.” Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina.

This beautiful and extremely scented and fragrant tree, native from Brazil, is knows as Copperpod or Yellow Flame, in Portuguese "Sibipiruna", scientific name: Caesalpinia peltophorides.

"GREEN, HOW I WANT YOU GREEN"... "VERDE QUE TE QUERO VERDE"...

This plant named "Monstera deliciosa", is a creeping vine native to Mexico and Panama. Common name is Monstera, Tarovine and Swiss Cheese Plant. This member of the Arum family is an epiphyte with aerial roots, able to grow up to 20 m high with large, leathery, glossy, heart-shaped leaves.

Agave attenuata, native to the plateau of central Mexico is a species of agave sometimes known as the "lion's tail", "swan's neck" or "fox tail" for its development of a curved stem, unusual among agaves.

This beautiful Brazil's native tree is known as Copperpod, Yellow Flame or Yellow Flamboyant. This tree has lovely and beautiful yellow flowers, with crinckled petals, each with a brown spot. This tree has a big crown, a wonderful canopy affording refreshing shade. Scientific name: Caesalpinia peltophorides.
"GREEN, HOW I WANT YOU GREEN", from the poem by Federico García Lorca, "Romance Sonambulo " ("Ballad of the Sleepwalker")

"Green, how I want you green.
Green wind. Green branches.
The ship out on the sea
and the horse on the mountain.
With the shadow at the waist
she dreams on her balcony,
green flesh, green hair,
with eyes of cold silver.
Green, how I want you green.
Under the gypsy moon,
all things are watching her
and she cannot see them."

"VERDE QUE TE QUERO VERDE" do poema de Federico García Lorca,
"Romance Sonâmbulo."
"Verde que te quero verde.
Verde vento. Verdes ramas.
O barco vai sobre o mar
e o cavalo na montanha.
Com a sombra pela cintura
ela sonha na varanda,
verde carne, tranças verdes,
com olhos de fria prata.
Verde que te quero verde.
Por sob a lua gitana,
as coisas estão mirando-a
e ela não pode mirá-las."

TREES IN MY YARD

Golden Trumpet Tree, "Ipê Amarelo" in Portuguese. The scientific name is Tabebuia chrysotricha. Tabebuia "is a neotropical genus of about 100 species of large shrubs and trees in the tribe Tecomeae of the family Bignoniaceae, original from Brazil.

That tree is native from Brazil, named Canafístula or Chuva-de-Ouro ( "Rain of Gold"). The Cassia ferruginea, from the family Leguminosae-Caesalpinoideae, bears the most flagrant flowers, which are arranged in hanging racemes. The flowers appear in October, November and December.

Flamboyant Tree, Royal Poinciana (family Fabaceae), is a tropical or subtropical flowering plant native of Madagascar and is consistently voted among the top 5 most beautiful flowering trees in the world. Royal Poinciana deserves its support. It may be the most colorful flowering tree in the world as well. Other common names for Royal Poinciana include Flamboyant Tree, Flame Tree, Mohur Tree and Red Flame.

This beautiful and extremely scented and fragrant tree, native from Brazil, is knows as Copperpod, Yellow Flame or Yellow Flamboyant, in Portuguese "Sibipiruna", scientific name: Caesalpinia peltophorides.

These two trees above are known as Barbatimão (Stryphnodendron adstringens), Family Leguminosae-Mimosoideae. This luxuriant tree in my yard is native to Brazil's cerrado vegetation. The Brazilian cerrado (savanna) bioma covers 2 million km² representing 23% of the area of the country (the same size as Western Europe).

We planted cypress all around our yard. Thuja occidentalis, a species of thuja, is an evergreen coniferous tree in the cypress family Cupressaceae, native to the northeastern U.S. and southeastern Canada, from central Saskatchewan east to New Brunswick, and south to eastern Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountains. This palm tree is a native plant in our region.

FLOWERY TREES

This beautiful and extremely scented and fragrant tree, native from Brazil, is knows as Copperpod, Yellow Flame or Yellow Flamboyant, in Portuguese "Sibipiruna", scientific name: Caesalpinia peltophorides. The Yellow Flame has lovely and beautiful flowers, 1.5 inches across (4 cm), with crinkled petals, each with a brown spot. This tree can not tolerate frost and likes light shade to full sun. Fast growing to 25 to 50 feet tall (8-15 m), up to 25 feet across.

The "Sibipiruna" has a big crown, a wonderful canopy affording refreshing shade. I love to seat under this beautiful tree in my backyard to rest or to read a book.

Below we see the marvelous Golden Trumpet Tree, in Portuguese "Ipê Amarelo", scientific name: Tabebuia chrysotricha. Tabebuia "is a neotropical genus of about 100 species of large shrubs and trees in the tribe Tecomeae of the family Bignoniaceae, original from Brazil. This beautiful tree can arrive to 25 feet of height. During the winter, the leaves of the "Ipê Amarelo" fall and the tree becomes completely naked. Many species are dry-season deciduous and flower on leafless stems at the end of the dry season, making the floral display more conspicuous. In botany, deciduous plants, principally trees and shrubs, are those that lose all of their foliage for part of the year. Species in this genus are important as ornamentals plant in parks and gardens, as well as in the lining of streets, because of their showy flowers. The bark of several species is used medicinally. The wood is used for furniture, decking and other outdoor uses".

Forward we see the rugged trunk of the Golden Trumpet Tree ,"Ipê Amarelo" and behind we can see the fragrant Yellow Flame Tree, "Sibipiruna".
