One day forever changes the destiny of college overachiever, Michelle Rhodes.

Shattered, confused and alone, no one understands the trauma consuming her until she meets Connor Donnelly.

A native New Yorker, he believes he can aid in getting her life back on track. But what if he's even more broken inside?

Offering her a chance at a fresh start, Connor convinces Michelle to move in with him. Hiring her to waitress at his bar, their mutual attraction only complicates matters.

As more details surrounding Connor's past emerge, Michelle uncovers the full magnitude of the loss he's trying to hide. Refusing to let her feelings for him hinder his recovery, she makes a decision that winds up hurting them both.

By sacrificing her heart, Michelle thinks she is helping Connor come to terms with his grief. Little does she know, Connor is gambling everything for the sake of having a future with her.

What happens is truly unexpected.

Review:
If there is one book you pick up to read this September, please make it Unexpected! I think we all remember how we felt that day when 12 years ago, and this short read will not only break your heart but will remind you just how deeply affect many people were by the tragedy that happened on 9/11.

The book follows 2 characters were are linked to the events of 9/11 in very different ways, but when they come together they prove just how amazingly powerful love can be and how it can help heal even the deepest emotional scars. As I read this book, there just happened to be a commercial-free special on TV chronicling the events of 9/11 from beginning to end. The book itself is so powerful and emotional, but to re-watch the events of that day while reading about its effects was almost too much.

It’s impossible to read Unexpected and not get emotionally invested in the characters. Their reactions to the events of that day, the loss, and the aftermath are real and gut-wrenching. I was immediately connected with these two young people who were so deeply affected by this horrible tragedy. As their story unfolds, and they try desperately to help one another, I couldn’t help but fall more and more in love the book.

A portion of the proceeds of this book will be going to the 9/11 Memorial Fund, so please, go pick up your copy and share as much as you can. You will not be disappointed in this book. It’s a quick read; I read it in about 4 hours, but be warned. This book is packed with emotion and your heart will get a workout, but it will be totally worth it!

TAKE ME NOW by Faith Sullivan - Review

Take Me Now (Take Me Now #1)
Source: Digital copy provided by the author in exchange for honest review.
How do you survive the internship from hell?

Don't fall in love.

Ivy thought being a reporter-in-training at the Independent Gazette would be her dream summer job. Little did she know, interviewing Eric, a landscaper with a heart of gold, would derail her plans. It turns out Ivy's boss, Lauren, has been eyeing his chiseled physique for quite some time.

But at twenty-four, Eric already has a tragic past, one that he is still reeling from. Even though his ordeal turned him into some sort of local celebrity, it's been a while since he's shared his bed with anyone. When he comes to Ivy's rescue out of the blue, it's not long before the two of them start seeing each other behind Lauren's back. When they get caught, Ivy's journey toward a college degree is jeopardized and her relationship with Eric is severely put to the test.

Career versus love? In the end, a shocking turn of events provides Ivy with a revelation she never saw coming.

 Review
This is quick read packed with heartache, tragedy, and some pretty intense experiences. Ivy has it pretty rough from the get go, and let me tell you, she pay her dues. There was always something happening to her so it certainly kept my attention.

I wish there would have been a little more interaction between Ivy and Eric, with a little more detail on their encounters. I think this would have made the relationship and attraction just a little more realistic. Their instant attraction isn’t unheard of and it’s well written; however, with Eric’s past, I think a few more interactions together to build on their instant connection would have supported the story a little more.

Eric is a fascinating character, and his past is extremely tragic. You can’t help but fall for him and little bit more every time read his POV. Even his extreme reactions reveal more favorable things about him. He’s dedicated, sensitive, protective, and completely lovable.

If you’re looking for a quick read that has a few serious topics and events thrown in with a pretty intense love story, try Take Me Now, I think you’ll be very satisfied and looking forward to more.
