Frank Bailey and Sarah Palin's e-mails

The Bailey manuscript saga is the topic of the week and is still unraveling. Some issues have been overlooked and they add an extra twist to the proceedings.

Andree McLeod has issued a press release regarding an ethics complaint she filed with the AK Attorney General last September and has sent me a copy of it this morning:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Anchorage, Alaska: An ethics complaint filed last fall against former Palin aide Frank Bailey is still under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office. It was filed by Alaska resident and registered Republican AndrĂ©e McLeod and charges Bailey with improper use and disclosure of official records.

Alaska law prohibits employees to use or disclose information acquired in the course of their official duties for any benefit and personal gain, if that information has not been made public. And, employees can’t use or disclose information acquired in the course of their official duties if that information is confidential by law.

The Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act states: Sec. 39.52. 140. Improper use or disclosure of information.

(a) A current or former public officer may not disclose or use information gained in the course of, or by reason of, the officer's official duties that could in any way result in the receipt of any benefit for the officer or an immediate family member, if the information has not also been disseminated to the public.

(b) A current or former public officer may not disclose or use, without appropriate authorization information acquired in the course of official duties that is confidential by law.

“I, along with the Associated Press, Mother Jones, MSNBC and others, submitted legitimate public records requests in the fall of 2008. More than 2 years and countless extensions later, Palin’s email documents have yet to be made public,” McLeod said. “Yet, it seems that a former Palin aide and at least two others have had free access to Palin’s emails….all because Bailey worked in the governor’s office.”

It was widely reported last week that a manuscript written by Bailey and 2 others is being shopped around for a publisher. The reports state that the book is based on tens of thousands of Baileys emails, which include official emails he accessed while a public official.

“The revelations in and about the manuscript raise additional questions that must be addressed by the Attorney General,” McLeod said. “The people’s business continues to be breached by Palin’s (former) aides. Making matters worse, Bailey’s recently outed co-writers admittedly and illegitimately have had access to confidential emails that others, who have followed the rule of law, still anticipate. This is wrong. The AG has yet to provide resolution, since the Legislature has indicated that public records should not be made available for public inspection until they’ve been reviewed for privacy and policy reasons.”

At this point there are countless people in possession of the manuscript who have access to a number of the e-mails mentioned above. As Jeanne Devon put it, "the toothpaste is out of the tube."

Regardless of who leaked the manuscript, there are other issues that could explain why the authors had not found a publisher for such a revealing book. There are legal and ethical issues that have not been resolved yet.

Of course there is great curiosity about anything involving Sarah Palin's wrongdoings, but it seems to me that the only way Bailey could have bypassed the state of Alaska statutes regarding the confidentiality of the e-mails would have been to report any illegal activities to the proper authorities when he first became aware of them.

It is a complicated affair and Watergate comes to mind. Without confidential information leaked to the press, Nixon would have met a very different fate.

It should be mentioned that we have lost faith in the proper authorities in Alaska a long time ago.

The rights and wrongs of the manuscript saga seem to get more complex by the minute, but that's to be expected whenever anything involves Sarah Palin...

Sarah Palin's former top-official Frank Bailey: The axe has fallen down on the hatchet man

There is sad news: The axe has fallen down on the hatchet man!

Frank Bailey, the former top-official in Sarah Palin's administration who played a major role in the "Troopergate" scandal, was about to write his "tell-all book". Andrew Halcro wrote on October 22, 2009:

Bailey, former Gov. Sarah Palin's right hand man, has signed on with Releve Marketing of San Diego who anounced today that they are in in the process of writing their upcoming book "Renegade: Sarah Palin's Hatchet Man," which they say is from the unique perspective of one of Palin's three inner circle confidants.

In an interview with Joy Morgan this morning, one of the co-authors of the book, she said the book will be "accurate, factual and very documented." She stated the book will tell Bailey's "side of the story."

But now, "Releve Marketing" caved in. On their website, the following can be read from today:

Releve Marketing and PR has made the decision to no longer represent or co-author Frank Bailey's upcoming book Renegade: Sarah Palin's Hatchet Man. We are currently accepting other public relations clients and writing projects.

On the page with the biographies of the people connected with Releve Marketing, the bio of Frank Bailey was included - but it was deleted from this page today. Only the biographies of Joy Morgan and Christiana Grace have remained on the page. Missing is the biography of Frank Bailey, which read until today:

Frank Bailey Frank Bailey was former Director, State of Alaska Office of Boards and Commissions where he was responsible for more than 600 appointments to 120 State Boards or Commissions. He managed all aspects of 15 Judicial appointments ranging from Alaska District Court to Alaska Supreme Court. Frank was previously Communications Officer, Legislative Liaison, Special Assistant to the Commissioner; Deputy Director of the Palin/ Parnell Transition Team; and Campaign Administrator. As well, he is a musician, an instrument pilot and business owner. Frank lives with his family in Alaska.

It looks like the hatchet man himself now needs a bigger axe...

In addition: It is very interesting to note that Andrew Halcro removed one blogpost from his blog index, so for his visitors it can no longer be found. This post was called "Coming Monday - Bailey's on the rocks". The page itself still exists and can be seen here.

In this post, Andrew Halcro gave a little snippet of what Frank Bailey was going to reveal in his book. He explained that according to Frank Bailey, a shot in front of a hotel which was taken for one of Sarah Palin's campaign commercials in 2005 might have been staged - although Palin's campaign had strictly denied in the past that it was staged. Andrew Halcro leaves this questions open.

Furthermore, Andrew Halcro explored in this post the question of who pressured Frank Bailey into making a "Troopergate" related phonecall in February 2008, and concluded:

So who pressured Bailey into calling Dial? It seems that Todd Palin pressured Frye into pressuring Bailey into making the call, thus Bailey's revalation to Dial that he was calling on behalf of Sarah and Todd and in doing so Todd could deny culpability.

I myself don't know whether Andrew Halcro's conclusion is correct or not, but it might very well be the case the someone wasn't very happy with it.

The Palinbots Have Finally Proven That Sarah Palin Was Pregnant - We Can All Go Home Now!

Exclusive! The revelation you have all been waiting for!

Our faithful reader and active Trig Truther ProChoiceGrandma has stumbled upon the final evidence - all our efforts were in vain. The Palinbots have found the solution.

If you click here, then this link will lead you to a website which promises to have the ultimate proof. HERE IT IS:

Oops...what happened there? Where is the picture?

Well, there is a link given in the article - THIS ONE. Surely the link will lead us to the right picture, so that we finally can pack our bags and go home! Won't it?

Oh No! Do I really have to continue to be a Trig Truther!? Every day, dwelling about Sarah's pregnancy - there are so many more exciting things to do in life, arent't there? Someone please remind me what those are...

So - what happens if I go to the flickr-account directly? Maybe there are more pictures still available?

It's apparently not my lucky day! This was the account of our good old friend "erik99559", who on August 31, 2008 out of the blue posted two pictures of an apparently pregnant Sarah Palin which were taken on April 13, 2008. These would go down in history as the famous "Gusty-pictures", named after the talented KTVA reporter Andrea Gusty, who later was forced to use all her skills to debunk the "ugly rumors" surrounding the pictures in a special broadcast.

Back in the good old days, the flickr page of "erik99559" showing the "Gusty-pictures" looked like this - preserved for eternity:

Yes, there it is, the big piece of evidence. But "erik99559" apparently didn't enjoy the attention any more and decided to call it a day and left us. Was he not proud of his ultimate piece of evidence any more, which has been used by many websites in order to debunk the fake pregnancy rumors?

We might never find out.

By the way, "99559" is the ZIP-code of Bethel, Andrea Gusty's hometown. On www.factcheck.org however, where the picture was discussed, Andrea Gusty claimed that "she was surprised the photo had made it onto the Internet." So was the ZIP-code just a coincidence?

It seems that the process of "deleting" accounts now becomes fashionable amongst "leading Palinistas".

It was always interesting to read the Twitter-messages of rabid Palinista Ivy Frye. She enjoyed for example conversing with our "friends" from C4P - and sometimes, she enjoyed spreading false information around about an opponent of Sarah Palin.

However, a few days ago, she decided to delete her Twitter account - despite the fact that up until then she had collected the impressive number of 759 followers.

A google cache of Ivy Frye's twitter account can be found here.

Ivy Frye was a former receptionist to Lyda Green who was then catapulted by Sarah Palin into top-government positions - which didn't work out so well. Maybe she found some consolation later in her role as highly-paid "state babysitter". Celtic Diva has more:
"According to legislative sources, the governor has pardoned both Frank Bailey and Ivy Frye and plans on transferring them out of the governor's office over to the Alaska Industrial Development Export Authority (AIDEA).

Both Bailey and Frye have figured large in the operations of the governor's office and both have created more baggage for this administration than Louis Vittone.

Frye has held no fewer than four different positions since she was hired after helping on Palin's campaign back in 2006. Frye was originally in charge of Board's & Commissions until she made a mess out of that job and then she was transferred to the Department of Administration. That job lasted until the commissioner couldn't handle it anymore after Frye reportedly told her that she only reports to the governor. Then, Frye was moved into a position entitled special assistant to the governor, where among other things, Frye worked on ways to get around public disclosure laws by using her Blackberry."

Frank Bailey, Sarah Palin's self-described "hatchet man", is now about to write his tell-all-book which at first sight makes me cautiously optimistic, because I think that Frank Bailey knows that he will only makes the big bucks if he "delivers the dirt".

Until somebody gives me a very good explanation how this is possible, I still have to continue with my Trig Truthing activities. I also would like to see explanations for all the other pictures and facts and mysteries surrounding Sarah Palin's "pregnancy" with Trig which are still unexplained up until today. So we have to continue, I guess. It's a fun ride, after all!
