Color Club Uptown Girl

Today I have Color Club Uptown Girl from their Rebel Debutante collection. Uptown Girl is a stunning dusty mauve, purple creme. I'm so glad I finally got around to trying this!

I used a base coat of Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener. I followed with two thin coats of Uptown Girl. Thankfully, this polish actually got along with my base coat! Application was very smooth and easy. I finished it off with a top coat of Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat.

So here are the pretty pictures :)

Just as gorgeous in the shade :)

The finish on this one is gorgeous! I'm a sucker for these dusty cremes :) This is one gorgeous colour and I think it actually suits my skin tone - although it kind of makes my hand look like one of those fake practise hands! A friend of mine thought I had fake nails on hehe:)

Color Club Fashion Addict (Pic Heavy)

I was in the mood for a cheerful nail polish and what better choice than a holographic! So with that in mind I chose Color Club Fashion Addict from the Catwalk Queen collection. Fashion Addict is a gorgeous lavender holographic!

I used a coat of OPI Nail Hardener for my base coat and then applied two coats of Fashion Addict. It was opaque in one coat but I wanted a second coat to add 'depth' to the colour. Application was a breeze meaning almost no clean up. I knew I would wear this manicure for a long time single I love holographic polishes so much so I added a coat of Seche Vite. The Seche Vite changed the colour slightly, making Fashion Addict a few shades darker and I definitely noticed a diminished holographic effect. Before I added the top coat it had the usual linear holographic effect but all a scatter effect on either side of the linear effect. However once I added the top coat there was only the linear holographic effect. Normally I wouldn't have noticed the difference but my Mum saw my nails and wanted to try the same colour and then later we were comparing and that's when I saw the differences.

Any who, these photo's were taken in artificial light but it was really hard to capture the holographic effect accurately in this light.

The following day I took photos in the sunlight. There's lots of photos to make up for the crappy ones in artificial light.

I like these two photos because the first one shows the holographic effect the moment the top half of my index and middle fingers. Then the second photo was taken in with very little sunlight.

*DROOL*!! I love holographic! I love purple! I love Fashion Addict! I know that some people have said they have a version of Fashion Addict that has almost no holographic effect but mine seems to be quite strong - ignoring the artificial light photos because the holographic effect was still very strong in that light too. There's nothing more to say I love everything about this nail polish!

Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink

I had a very belated urge to do something Valentine's Day related. Since I didn't do anything special or themed for Valentine's Day I decided to pick go with Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink which I picked up from their new Xtreme Wear collection. When I picked it up this colour screamed Valentine's to me, add glitter to the mix and this was a no-brainer!

I applied OPI Natural Hardener for my base coat and then applied three coats of Rockstar Pink. The formula is thin but not runny. now that may sound contradictory so let me explain :) Since the formula is thin this allows the glitter to glide on smoothly and subsequent coats allows for total opacity without any clumping from the glitter. This polish was a breeze to apply and was almost perfectly opaque with two oats but I added a third to ensure total coverage. I applied a thick coat of Seche Vite top coat and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri drops to hasten the drying time. I would suggest you add another layer of top coat if you want it feeling perfectly smooth since it still had a grainy feel with just one coat.

I just wanted to note that the bottle contains 11.8ml and for this one manicure I used a significant portion of it to achieve complete opacity. I can't wait to try this over other nail polishes as a top coat :)

These photo's were taken a night later in artificial light after I had removed most of the excess glitter.

Then two days later I took these photo's outside but unfortunately it was overcast so there's not much sunlight to work with.

GLITTER OVERLOAD!!! This colour is just stunning! It's so pretty and smoothly blends together for a glitter overload. Rockstar Pink had pink, purple, blue and silver glitter particles all through it in a clear base. I keep finding my attention drawn to my nail polish, especially with the sunlight sparkling off them. If you love pink and glitter I suggest you pick this colour up at once!

Orly Galaxy Girl (Pic Heavy!!)

I haven't yet tried Orly nail polish so I figured now was as good a time as any :) With that in mind I grabbed Orly Galaxy Girl from the Cosmic FX collection. Galaxy Girl is a gorgeous duochrome that shifts from a burgundy/mahogany colours to a rich teal blue. the colour is primarily a deep rich burgundy that has a teal blue shimmer. In certain lights thought it becomes a duochrome and it shifts to the teal blue colour.

I applied a coat of Revlon Calcium Gel Nail Hardener followed by three coats of Galaxy Girl. Galaxy Girl is very thin and I found it a bit difficult to work with since it was watery. It wasn't possible to use thick coats since the formula was so watery so I used three very thin coats. Since this was my first time using Orly I found the brush took some getting use to and it was also more difficult because it was watery.

These photo's were taken in artificial light that night.

I did the best to capture the duochrome shift to the teal blue :(

The majority of the time Galaxy Girl was the mahogany/burgundy colour with a teal blue shimmer which was easy to capture. However, the colour would shift to this amazing teal blue that wouldn't be captured >.<. When I first put this on I wasn't a fan, the dark burgundy colour just didn't suit me but the gorgeous blue shimmer and duochrome saved this nail polish for me.

Zoya Mira

Going for a bright and vibrant colour I decided to apply Zoya Mira from the Summertime collection. Mira is a bright purple colour which reminds me of grape flavoured candy!

One coat of my usual Revlon Quick Dry base coat and then two coats of Zoya Mira. It's important that you get the same thickness across the entire nail because in some areas it applied thinner and the nail polish didn't level out. I used a thick coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat to level my nail polish out and then used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri drops.

The following photo's I took in artificial light as soon as my manicure was dry.

Candied purple creme PERFECTION!!! This colour is beautiful, just beautiful! The formula and application was as fantastic as all the Zoya nail polishes I have tried. I think perfection sums up how I feel about this nail colour, enough said!
