Whose Brainchild are You?

Take this interesting online quiz that maps your mind, and find out which two famous people had brains similar to yours.

My results:

I love DaVinci, and he had the kind of creative life I could only dream of, so that's very cool. While I'm not a huge fan of St. Joan or my Catholic upbringing, my mother was named after her, so I'll take her, too.

Whose brainchild are you? Let us know in comments.

LT Job Op (and Ribbet)

Library Thing is looking for a programmer:

LibraryThing, the company behind LibraryThing.com and LibraryThing for Libraries, is looking to hire a top-notch developer/programmer.

We like to think we make “products that don’t suck,” as opposed to much of what’s developed for libraries. We’ve got new ideas and not enough developers to make them. That’s where you come in.

Technical Skills required:

LibraryThing is mostly non-OO PHP. You need to be a solid PHP programmer or show us you can become one quickly. You should be experienced in HTML, JavaScript, CSS and SQL. We welcome experience with design and UX, Python, Solr, and mobile development.

There's a link to an online quiz in the job post that you should take to see if you're technically qualified, or send in your resume, whichever works best for you. See the job listing on Library Thing for more details. Also, if you apply and do get the job, mention I referred you, and I'll win a bunch of books. :)

Now, if you were a Muppet, exactly which one would you be? Take the quiz here and find out.

My results:

I don't know if I'm any of that description, but all the same I'm happy to be Kermit (okay, I was secretly hoping to be Mr. Snuffleupagus. No one but Big Bird ever saw him. Which would make Shiloh Walker Big Bird.)

So which Muppet are you? Let us know in comments.

Face Me Out, Please

If you were a book, where would you be shelved in the library? Take this Dewey Decimal quiz and find out.

My results:

Yep, that makes all kinds of sense (when I visit the library I spend a lot of time browsing the 900's as it's my favorite nonfic section, so I'd be happy there as a book.) On what shelf did you end up? Post your results in comments.

Spirit City

Answer nine questions and the City-o-Meter will decide where your spiritual home is. My (laughable) results:

I suppose it's not entirely ludicrous; I grew up in a Cuban-American community, and I still do love all things Cuban. Well, except the current regime running that nation, they can go burn in Hell. So until they do, I think my spirit will be much more content to dwell in Little Havana.

Where is your spiritual home? Take the test and let us know in comments.

Living with Elves

I took Buzzfeed.com's Which Fictional City Should You Live In? quiz, and turns out I'd be at home with the elves:

In which fictional city would you live? Post your results in comments.

How British Are You?

Yes, there is an online test that will determine exactly how British you are. And yes, it's very silly. But if I have to post one more holiday-themed piece I think my head will explode.

Here, I'll post my ridiculous but oddly apt results first:

Must tell the cousins across the pond that they've been a bad influence on me. So how UK did you rate? Let us know in comments.

Meme Nick

It's always fun to pilfer a meme, and this is one I nicked from Shiloh:

1. What the working title of your book?

I never give out titles until they're chiseled in publisher stone.

2. Where did the idea come from for the book?

Shane Adams and a red rose get the blame for this one.

3. What is the genre of the book?

It'll probably be marketed as paranormal romance or urban fantasy.

4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Other than Shane Adams, have no idea.

5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

I think I'll keep this under my hat for the time being, too.

6. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency/publisher?

It’s in the pre-proposal stage at present but (unless she hates it) the novel will be represented by my agent, Robin Rue at Writer's House.

7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I'm still working on it, but so far I've logged in about two months.

8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I don't do that.

9. Who or what inspired you to write this book?

See answer to #2.

10. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

In the story I never once use the word pique.

If you'd like to steal this meme for your blog, I don't think Shiloh would mind, and you have my blessing (if you would be sure to blame her for it with a link, too.)
