Lacy Sunshine Guest Designer....That's ME!!

Okay, if you couldn't tell from the title of this post....
I'm a bit excited over the moon excited to enjoy the fun and honor of being Guest Designer for the next challenge over at

The theme for this new fortnightly challenge is a great one:
It's a Bling Thing!
So get out that glitter, those rhinestones, those charms....
Whatever your heart fancies and bling it up, baby!

I was given Karmi Kornpops to play with for this challenge and I'm completely in love with her.  Heather is such a talented lady!  Her digis are so original and fun to use.  I'm constantly inspired by the little cuties I find in her store.  She's just opened an Etsy shop too.  You can find loads of her images there with more to be added very soon.
Go check it out here.

I love the way the glitter paper really sparkles!
The papers were my jumping off point for the design of this card.

In this photo and the one below,
you can see the rhinestone swirls that I used.
They actually began life as one very large swirl that I cut apart
so they would fit in the small spaces available for more bling.

You can see the dimension the pop dots add to the image and mats.

Putting the glitter on the roses quickly reminded me why I very rarely
use glitter.  Not only do I make an incredible mess with it but this time
I got some in my eye too.  FYI: That is not a pleasant experience.

The ingredients used for this card were:
Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink
DSP:  Recollections "Retro" stack, DCWV
Coloring medium:  ProMarkers
Beads:  Bead Gallery, Dollar Tree
Pearl sprays:  Hobby Lobby bridal department
Ribbons:  Making Memories, Dollar Tree, my stash
Pearl stickers:  Recollections
Rhinestone swirls:  Recollections
Mulberry paper flowers:  Wild Orchid Crafts

You can find this card in the following challenges:

A Gem of a Challenge -- Gems, gems, gems
Jo's Scrap Shack -- Things with wings
Totally Papercrafts -- Use glitter
A Little Bit Crafty -- Sparkle and shine

I had a blast doing this card.
Bling is something that I'm still trying to get used to using
so this theme truly was a challenge for me!
Go get your card ready and join in the fun.  There are always 2 winners drawn so twice the chances to collect some new Lacy Sunshine images.  PLUS if you use one of Heather's images in this week's challenge, you can receive a new image next week through her Loyalty Program.  Pretty sweet deal, right?

Thanks so much for spending some time here today!

My first Bestie

My dear friend Julie inspired me to use this incredible Bestie image by Sheri Baldy.  Julie's cards, tags, canvasses, etc. are always so beautiful it's impossible for me to look at any of her work and not come away inspired and awed.  If you've never had a chance to take a look at her blog, you really should treat yourself to a visit!

I'm still trying to muddle my way through designing projects that are really blinged out.  The amount of time I spend deciding where to place the embellishments is a bit embarrassing.  I'm just so darned indecisive.  Hubby made me feel much better about it when he reminded me about how long it used to take me to do a floral arrangement when I was a new florist about 22 years ago.  Today, I can get finished with most floral designs in pretty quick time; so I just need to give myself a decade or 2 with cards and I'll be just fine....hopefully it won't take that long.

I have to say that the amount of time spent on this card was worth it.  I'm very happy with the results.  Starting with a really sweet image definitely helped!

I had so much fun coloring this one!  She's just so girly.  I had to go with all pinks to play that up.  The little feather embelly I put in her hair makes me think of a Flapper girl from the 1920's.

The ingredients for this card are:
Coloring medium:  ProMarkers
Papers: Papertrey Ink, Bazzill, DCWV Lace & Linen
Feather pick: Hobby Lobby
Flowers: Ebay
Pearl stickers: Recollections
Keyhole embelly:  Tim Holtz
Rhinestone ribbon: Michaels
Pink ribbon: My stash
White glitter chipboard accents: Colorbok
Paper doily: A stay at a Ramada Inn in Bowling Green, KY
Ink used on doily: Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look at my very first Bestie card.  There are sure to be more in the very near future!!

Paper piecing and Saturated Canary

This week's challenge at Saturated Canary is to do some paper piecing.  I'd never done any before so I thought this would be a good excuse to give it a go.   I love Krista's images so much and I love trying my hand at any new (to me) technique I find so it was a match made in
challenge heaven.

It was really easy and I think it makes a nice impact.  You can see in the photo below that I've pieced sweet little Whispy Fairie's wings, skirt overlay, and leggings.  I used the same DSP for some of the matting on my card to help make everything very cohesive.
I colored her with my ProMarkers and continue to fall deeper in love with coloring digis.  It's been almost 2 months since I started and every time I finish an image I feel like a little girl waiting for someone to give me my gold star for coloring inside the lines.

Here are a couple more pictures of my card:

The items used on this card are:
DSP: K&Company
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink
Pink rose: Handmade using Cricut Flower Shoppe
Mulberry paper flowers: Ebay
Heart charm: Michaels Dollar Bin
Bling swirls: Recollections
Tiny ball fringe: Joann (How cute is that?)
Seam binding: Etsy
Large pearl brads and beads for stick pin: my stash
Border punch: Martha Stewart
Sentiment: Papertrey Ink
Cheesecloth: My kitchen
The frame for the sentiment was stamped and cut using my brand new Cricut Posh Frames set.  I just got it a couple of days ago.  After I have a chance to play with it some more, I'll right a little review to let you know what I think of it.

Here is one final shot of my card:
As always, I appreciate your visit today and would love it if you could leave me a quick comment!
