New Stamps from ........ and A Controversy on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Stamps...

Monarch Caterpillar - 22 April 2009

Hi ! Here are some nice recent issues from Canada, Malta and Czech Republic and controversial Sri Sri Ravi Shankar stamps. But the stamp that attrcted me most is the lovely cute caterpillar called 'Monach Caterpillar' which appears on recent definitive stamp by Canada Post. The color is so bright and fascinating giving a look of a commemorative postage stamp.Normally definitive stamps are not so bright and attactive at least, issued by India Post. The other stamps are on Euro and Railway. In the second part of the post, some stamps that I found on a blog related with India's renowned Guru and & Philosopher Sri Sri Ravi Shankar that are claimed to be issued by Netherlands. But this seems to be very controversial as similar controversy arose earlier about popular Bhojpuri Singer Manoj Tiwari's stamp which was said to be issued by Netherlands . So this post is somewhat related with the topic of discussion too...Our Blogger friend Mansoor B. also writes about it in his Blog. Please also go through it. I am giving below some links about related with these controversial postage stamps. Our thanks to Mr. Prashant Pandya for today's Post !....This is all for today !......Till Next Post .....Have a Nice Time. !....

Cute Caterpillar on Canadian Stamp

On 22 April 2009 Canada Post issued a stamp honouring one of Canadian gardeners’ and farmers’ tiniest friends: the humble, yet hungry, Monarch Caterpillar. The 2-cent stamp is the newest issue in Canada Post’s low-value definitive series that pays tribute to the beneficial insects that roam Canada’s gardens and marshes. The monarch caterpillar’s favourite food is the milkweed, the bane of Canadian gardeners. The black-and-white caterpillar on the stamp slinking along a green milkweed leaf. The First Day Cover design of the stamp shows the caterpillar’s final manifestation as the glorious black-and-orange monarch butterfly. Positioning the butterfly on the front of the Official First Day Cover and the chrysalis on the back highlights the monarch’s spectacular lifecycle. The design shows great skill of the designer of the cover.

New Stamp on Euro
The 10th Anniversary of the euro is being celebrated this year. Ths stamps have been issued by several administrations to mark the 10th anniversary. I have written about some of them in my earlier posts. Here is the latest one issued by Malta on 30th of April 2009.The stamp reproduces a replica image of the new 2-euro coin, issued in January 2009 which celebrates ten years of economic and monetary union (EMU). The design, which symbolises the euro as the latest step in the long history of European economic integration. This beautiful stamp is printed on Maltese Crosses watermarked paper .

New stamp on Railways
On 22 April 2009 Czech Rapublic issued a stamp on 150th Anniversary of the former Pardubice - Liberec South - North German Junction Line. The first train arrived at Liberec on May 1, 1859. The Pardubice-Liberec line is the third oldest railway line in Bohemia. The Pardubice-Liberec line connected the industrial Northern Bohemia to Vienna and then passed the Austrian-German frontier on the Liberec-Žitava line. Turning to the North-Eastern Bohemia it changed the main direction not only because of coal but also for strategic military reasons. The 160 km long line is the first Czech railway in a demanding low mountain relief.

These are very beautiful philatelic items, sure to be liked by philatelists as well as coin collectors. The FDC, Miniature sheet and the individual stamp, all are quite attractive. Here are the nice philatelic items by Slovakia and a round stamp figure from Romania shown below ! This is all for this Morning !.....Till Next Post .......Have a Nice Time !.....

The European Monetary System was created in order to achieve an area of monetary stability inside the European Economic Community. The European Unique Document ascertains the freedoms of motion inside the Union (for persons, capital and also for services and goods) and the Maastricht Treaty represents the legal base of the unique currency.

The actual preparations for the European unique currency accomplishment started in 1994 by introducing ECU (European Currency Unit, the generic name initially used), which represented only one of the phases, the decisive one, that lead to the appearance of the European unique currency. In December 1995, during the European Council reunion in Madrid, the name of the future currency was decided: euro, name which quickly imposed on the market and was assimilated by the Europeans. One of the reasons for this choice was the fact that euro is easy to pronounce in all the languages of the Community, this name having obtained the best results in all the soundings.

The Euro Symbol (€) is inspired from the Greek letter "epsilon", having as bench-mark the cradle of the European civilization. On graphic level this symbol is close to E letter - the first letter of the key word, Europe - crossed in the middle by two parallel lines.
