Z (19) 2S7 Pion/Malka (Russia)

The 2S7 Pion (or Malka for the modernisation in the late 2010s) is a Soviet self-propelled 203mm cannon. First seen in 1975, the 2S7 is based on a new-design chassis using a number of common automotive components with the T-72 and T-80 main battle tanks. The xternally mounted 203mm gun on the hull rear has a range of 37,500 metres that can be extended to 55,000 metres by using rocket assisted projectile. The 2S7 has a crew of 14, seven carried in the Pion and 7 in an auxiliary vehicle.

The fantastic model is a 3D print by the excellent YK3D. A great build and a great painting moment 😁 Thanks Yevghenii 👍  I'm currently working on a little diorama for it.

And a small hint at the future diorama... figures by Alex Miniature

T-64A mod 1972 (USSR)

A second-gerneration Soviet main battle tank, the T-64 was introduced in service in the early 1960s. It had a number of advanced feature for the time including composite armor, a compact engine and transmission and, from the T-64A at the beginning of the 70s, a new smoothbore 125-mm gun equipped with an autoloader which allowed the reduction of the crew to three. These features made the T-64 expensive to build and more difficult to maintain. Small spring-mounted plates fitted along the mudguards (known as the Gill skirt) covered the top of the suspension and the side of the tank. T-64 were essentially in use in the frontline tank divisions in Germany and were never issued to other Warsaw Pact armies.

The kit is from ModelCollect and give a good rendering of this early model. It is my second version of T-64 (see T-64BV here) and, as it is one of my favorite MBT, I definitively intend to do lots of other version in the future 😎 (made 2022)
