Best Lady Liberty Scene

In the opening scene of the 1987 film “Hell Comes to Frogtown” you see a Lady Liberty statue as in many post apocalyptic films. Then comes a hand and it's revealed that's only a toy, trash. It's like the B-Mobie saying, we do it cheap, we would like to have a Lady Liberty in ruins but sorry we don't have the budget.

Killed Zombieland

The TV series “Zombieland” (2013) was already canceled after the pilot. Seems that the ratings of the invited viewers were too bad.

Beautiful Disaster

Sure that the post-apocalyptic science fiction film Oblivion isn't the best of the genre, but there are some really beautiful views of destroyed Americans icons: the Empire State Building, the Pentagon, the Superdome, the Washington obelisk with the Capitol in the back and last not least New York as a landscape.

Nice Knife

Stryker (1983) directed by  Cirio H. Santiago is another nice example of the trashy wave of post-apocalyptic movies in the 1980s. But I like the knife, nice detail.

A Quiet Apocalyptic Movie

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) was a quiet apocalyptic movie. No zombies or road warrior punks only the great million dollar question: "How would you spend your few remaining days."
And by the way nice to see, the dog, the old post apocalyptic companion.

Road Warrior Copycat

Equalizer 2000 is a cheap Road Warrior Copycat directed 1987 by the prolific Filipino film producer Cirio H. Santiago. It's obvious how much fun there will be...

Post Apocalyptic Porn

I truly have a big collection of post apocalyptic movies, but I needed some time until I stumbled upon Post Apocalyptic Cowgirls (2008). I skip the screenshots.

British Post Apocalyptic Scene

Devil's Playground (2010) is a post apocalyptic movie were the world is overrun by zombies. A hardened mercenary is chasing the one person who can provide a cure. Sure not a great movie but because it's British the scenery is London.

A Boy and His Dog

The film A Boy and His Dog (1975) is based on a science fiction novel by Harlan Ellison. In a post apocalyptic world a boy communicates telepathically with his dog as they scavenge for food and sex. This dog was probably the pattern for many other post apocalyptic companions to follow.

Avalon

Avalon (2001) is a Japanese-Polish science fiction film. The film is set in a dystopian future, where the population is hooked on an immersive illegal virtual reality video game called Avalon. One player of the game, Ash wants to reach a secret level hidden within Avalon. The film follows her quest to find the level.
There are a lot of scenes with derelict cities in decay, filmed in nice sepia tones.

Funny post-apocalyptic Design

Captive Women is an American Sci-Fi film from 1952. In an post-apocalyptic future two primitive tribes the "Norms" and the "Mutates" are fighting for New York. The barabaric costumes are quite funny look a bit like from Sindbad the Sailor.

Don’t call me babe

Pamela Anderson in the post-apocalyptic film Barb Wire (1996), which is kind of a bad Russ Meyer version of Casablanca.
O.K., I know it’s a really bad movie, but Pamela looks good in her leather outfit and tries really hard to be cool. Maybe she’s got only one good sentence in the whole film "Don't call me babe!", but it’s not the worst I have seen over the years.

Tim Burton’s Post apocalyptic Fairy Tales

In the film "9" – produced by Tim Burton – an apocalyptic war between human and machines had destroyed human life and left only ruins, the deadly machines and some living. burlap dolls.
It’s a beautiful film with the typical Tim Burton esthetics, illumination and fascination of morbid decay. So there a lots of impressing ruin sceneries.

Post-Apocalyptic Dogs of War

The great Humungus, the Ayatollah of the Rock and Roller is gravely disappointed and unleashing his dogs of war.

And here we have the oldest fried and true companion of men.

Yeah I liked an still do the Road Warrior. It imposed new standards on the whole genre and was full of dark humor and cutting irony.

2019 - After the Fall of New York

2019 - After the Fall of New York (1983) is one of the cheap copycat films that followed the great success of the Road Warrior.

Like many of this genre it’s an Italian production where producers had a long experience with the peculiar Sword-and-Sandal films. Like the Road Warrior films their Italian sucessors preferred desert sceneries which resulted much cheaper than that filmed in cities.

Therefore a lot of these films look like Hercules meets Star Trek in the desert.

The Hangman

These magnificent dark romantic paintings are by Paul Julian one of the best artist of warner brothers in the forties and fiefties.
They belong to the animation movie THE HANGMAN produced already in 1964. I suppose Stephen King used part of it as inspiration for his Dark Tower novels.
Anyway, more of this terrific artwork you’ll find here.

Zombieland

Zombieland is a 2009 American zombie comedy film, which combines elements of a zombie films with a road movie.

Four survivors of a zombie apocalypse are traveling together to "Pacific Playland" an amusement park, which is said rumored to be zombie-free. Sure it isn’t. And so happens the last shoot out in an abandoned amusement park. It’s a very diverting and funny movie.
