Paradise Lost!

I started Paradise Lost.  I couldn't sleep & I have been stitching in the middle of the night.  So I also had to frog some of what I have stitched.

I think I am stressing which is why I am not sleeping.

This week is Catholic's Schools Week.  I am dreading it.  Activities & time wasting galore.  It is much calmer this year than in years' past, but still lots of lost time that will never be made up.  I lose all my plan time on Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday.  Not happy about that.  Means more things I have to complete on my "free" time.

Hannah has to be at church tomorrow by 7:30 AM to help with the youth group breakfast.  She has to be at the 12:30 Mass since she is reading the introduction.  I have to be at the 8:00 AM Mass with my fifth graders since we are responsible for that Mass & neither of my partner teachers can make it.  I am just going to hang at school in between & work in my room.  I am hoping to get a lot done.  My TA is on a mission to clean out all my cabinets & is working her way towards my desk.  I think I need to hire her for the basement.

Today I grocery shopped, did laundry & cleaned.  I stitched a little too.

I have an orthopedic appointment Wednesday.  I am hoping to get my PT scrip renewed.  If I do, this means I can start running again.  I am slowly coming to accept that I may not be running the Lincoln Half this year.  My achilles is still tight in both legs & the flexibility is not coming back as fast as I hoped.  I know from what I have read that I am lucky my achilles were not detached to correct the problem, I guess I am just impatient and want quicker results.  The pain is definitely better than before the surgeries.

I think I am going to go and soak in the tub before I do my stretches.  The jets really seem to help loosen the tendons & reduce the swelling.  Then some more stitching till bedtime.

Snow Days!

I ended up not going back to school last week.  That puts us at 6 snow days so now we are in school on Monday the 18th.  As I told the kiddos, I would rather be in school when it is cold, than when it is hot.  I am scheduled to go to Florida with my friend Sally June 2nd.  We are letting the rest of our families come too, but it started out as a girl retreat, but then the guilt made us invite the kids & husbands.

Hannah took the high school entrance exam (YIKES!  I am going to have a high school student) Saturday.  We are still debating Private/Catholic vs. public.  We are lucky that our public school system is excellent and they are building a brand spanking new high school 3/4 of a mile from our house.  It will only have freshman & sophmores next year.  Hannah has always been in parachoial, but she would also qualify for the gifted program in the public.  She is bright & has unbelievable ITBS scores.  It is a hard decision.

I began LK ABC Lessons last week.  Making good progress.  Still can't find my camera.  I am beginning to freak.  Need to keep looking...

Snow Day #4

Tomorrow marks snow day #4 of the year.  We had three before Christmas break.  They called school off before the first flake even touched the ground.  It looks like another 6 inches on top of the 20 something inches still out there.  Then the wind will begin.  I have a feeling we are now done for the week!  Aghh...I will be getting out my big eraser tomorrow & erasing all my lesson plans for this week & next. So frustrating.

Since I have no school tomorrow, I have done no schoolwork tonight.  We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner (had a $25 GC from Christmas) & then came home to watch the biggest loser.  I haven't stitched today either.  My BIL passed away this morning & I just feel sort of blah.

I figure since there is no school tomorrow I might go & work in my room in the morning.  It is not supposed to be bad until after 12.

LK is Finished

I finished the border on my LK Christmas 2008 kit last night ~ start to finish was 10 days.  A record for me.  Now I need to find my camera.  I thought it was here, but it must be in my classroom.  I found the charger, but no camera.

Still waiting for the fabric to come in the mail for the LK ABC chart so I started LK's Time for God last night.  I stitched the word "worship" and went to bed.

Hopefully the linen will be here today so I can start it tomorrow night.  I actually have a lot of school things to do today to get ready for the week.  My friend Sally picked me up & took me to school for 2 hours.  I am not supposed to drive until the stitches come out.  I got some things knocked off my list, but still have a lot to do.  My doctor's appointment for tomorrow afternoon got cancelled so now I have to go Wednesday morning.  I am hoping the stitches will come out then.

No news yet about Dh's BIL.  They are doing an EEG today to see if there is brain activity.  I hate the waiting so I can only imagine what the immediate family is going through.

The weather here is awful.  There is already 22 inches of snow piled up into huge mounds, it is -17 today, and now we are going to get more SNOW!  Probably a snow day on Wednesday.  I don't want a snow day yet.  I would like it toward the end of January.

Sunday!

Usually I do not enjoy Sundays.  I am frantically trying to pull myself together for the week & just feel rushed the whole day.  There is NO school tomorrow. I am still on Christmas vacation for one more day.  I have a lot to do today.  I am going to do some school work, but I also need to do laundry, etc.  I need to go to the grocery store, but I am not supposed to be driving yet.  However, my DH had to go to Lincoln.  His sister's husband is in ICU again (3rd time in 10 days).  He went into full cardiac arrest last night & now it is not looking good.  I told DH he had to go & be there for his sister.  I am supposed to commentate at the 12:30 Mass.  DH was going to drive me.  I have decided I will drive myself.  Hannah is a little leery of me driving.  My right foot is still not 50%.  I have very little flexibility.  I think I can do it though.  I figure if I can make it to church, I can make it to Taco Bell & the grocery store.

I did not do a new start for the new year.  I fondled my stash (a lot), but decided I really wanted to finish my LK.  I need the finish.  I will finish it tonight.  I just have one half of a side of border left.  I stitched until 11 PM yesterday.  There was a NCIS marathon on & I stitched & piddled around all day.  Today I need to finish my baby shower announcements so they can be mailed tomorrow & get a package to a friend in KY ready to go.  I also have the school stuff looming.  Not a lot, just enough to fill a couple of hours.  I plan on going to school tomorrow & working in my classroom.  I left it a mess before I left for Christmas break.

Hopefully I will be posting a picture of my first finish of 2010 soon.

New Year ~ 2010!

The last decade has gone so quickly. There has been so many changes & some rough times. I am really hoping this next decade will be kind.

I spent today lying on the couch. My right foot is swollen & bruised and really feeling the hurt today. The left foot is not feeling so great today either. It is only 8 weeks post op and I think being the lone support has been a little rough. I have been icing and took some anti-infammatories today. I am done with the pain killers. I hate the loopiness & really need to be able to think. I can't do that while taking them.

We went to my mom's for lunch and she sent us home with dinner too. I stitched on my LK kit. Got an email telling me the linen I ordered is on the way. I am hoping to get this one done this weekend. I really only had 2 finishes for 2009. Sad. I hope to have many more this year. I sure did a lot of stash buying last year. I started an excel spreadsheet of what I have - chart, floss, buttons, linen. It is quite scary. I can't believe how much is there.

I want to run another half marathon. I haven't run in 6 months. My orthopedic says I can start running by the end of January. My DH does not want me to attempt to run the Lincoln Half. he is afraid I will not be ready & hurt myself. Instead he wants me to run the San Francisco Half with him in July. Decisions, decisions...though it would be fun to go to California=)

Two Days in a Row ~ a new record!

So I am posting two days in a row. I took the bandage off my foot today. The stitches are really tight except in one spot. It is bleeding, not bad, but just enough to soak a band aid. I need to keep an eye on it. The foot definitely feels better than it did before the surgery. I can already tell a difference.

I went to dinner with some friends tonight. Sally was kind enough to pick me up since I can not drive while on the percocit We went Bonefish Grill & had a fabulous time. It was great to get out. Tomorrow we (the family) are going to Sally's house for a New Year's Eve get together. Her mom is in town and is going to cook for us=).

I ordered linen yesterday for the 2 LK alphabets. Meari mentioned possibly doing one as a stitch-along. I would love too! Maybe that would help motivate me to keep stitching. I have so many projects I want start & finish.
