Steampunk/Industrial Box

Happy Sunday everyone. Today I'm going to head out for a little bit with my daughter and work a bit on her goalie stuff. She has a game on Monday and wants to do some work. We will be working with a small stick since her goalie stick is still at school in the locker room. This morning we are watching the 3rd Australian V8 race of the weekend. Other than that, I plan to get some posts ready and hopefully some coloring done. I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend!

Today I'm sharing an altered box:

This is a wooden box that I have taken and altered. I've painted the box black, then I've added those metal legs. I've used some porcelain clay that I've made up and made all of the little metal plates with that. I've used Dimensional Effects Texture paste on the top of the box and also the sides of the top with two different stencils. I've added some silver paint and some some Metallic Lustre. I've used a nut for a handle that was colored using Alcohol Ink and of course I've added some metal gears to finish off that Steampunk/Industrial look. I really had a lot of fun using the clay and texture paste on this.

Orange and Green Winter Box*

Good morning! And a very happy Thursday!!  Two more to days to go before the weekend!! Woohoo!! LOL  Yesterday I was working from home. That is always a nice change. I had some conference calls and it's nice and quiet at home.

Yesterday I also worked on the Open-Minded Crafting Fun Blog. I made a HUGE error!  Yep... my bad!! Ooops!!  I was cleaning up the blog getting ready for our new start at the beginning of the year. We are going to switch over to a monthly challenge and our first challenge will be on January 10th. Well ... as I was cleaning up I managed to delete ALL of the posts on the blog! I was trying to clean up the first year and part of last year, but nope... I deleted them all!! I couldn't believe it! Thankfully I had already saved the Design Team favorites.. but my gosh!! What the heck did I do!  Well, my BIG mistake! And I'm so sorry to everyone for that, but it is done and I can't fix it now. I should have waited to clean up. But there is a lot to do and I wanted to go ahead and do what I could :)  I hope everyone will join in on the Monthly Challenges once they start up!! We will still have the DT Favorites as well. Alright.. time to move on to my creation for today :)  This is a box I recycled and recreated!

Let's take a look at my box.. this is before I altered it:

It started out as a Samsung Box from the last phone we updated - Mine! I love my Samsungs! Kevin gave it to me and said I should decorate it. I have to admit, he was definitely correct. This is a great box! It just needed to be updated a bit. And here it is altered into something new:

For this box I started with the image, Hipster Girl in Snow, from SLS Lines Digital Stamps. I just adore this girl! I colored her with Copic Markers and then I layered her several layers. I added some glitter to her cuffs and hat to give it that furry look. I also added some Snow Marker to make the snowflakes falling. I took the box and cut paper to go on the box. I did green for the bottom and orange for the top. Then I did three layers of Matte Finish Gesso over the paper. I added the white snowflace corners and the snowflake borders on the sides. I added some gems to add some sparkle and I created the saying to go next to the girl. And I think that is it!

Copic Markers Used:
  • Outfit Orange: YR04, YR09, R89
  • Outfit Green: YG11, YG13, YG17
  • Black Shoes: W3, W5, W7, W9
  • Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E13
  • Eyes: Y00, Y18, Y26
  • Lips and Hat Ears: R20, R22, R24
  • Snowball: B0000, B000

My last Challenge at Delicious Doodles

Good morning!

Well.. today marks my last challenge at Delicious Doodles :(  I'm so very sad!!  The theme for this challenge is Welcome In The New Year. Okay.. I think I went a little off mark here LOL But I wanted to make something nice and different for our last challenge. So just think of this as a Welcoming in the New Year with your friends! ;) And it is a Christmas Gift for my daughter.. so she gets to begin the new year with a new box!

For this challenge I used Endless Love which you can still pick up until the end of the year at Delicious Doodles.  After that her images will be at Card Making Downloads. Okay... so I created a box. I used Golden Gel Mediums Light Molding Paste to add some texture on the box. I also cut out some different gears and layered them in the paste around the box. Then I painted the box with dark purple, the gears were painted with gold paint and the edges of the flowers. I added some leaves to the flowers around the box, added a gem in the center and ribbon around the edge of the top. I also added a blingy swirl on the top. Everything was covered with a couple of layers of Matte Mod Podge. The image was colored with my Copic markers and I tried to give the dragon some texture with the dots.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Skin:E000, E00, E01, E11, E13
  • Fairy Wings: V0000, V000, V01, V12, V15
  • Dragon: V12, V15, V17, BV08, 0
  • Dragon Eye: G000, G07, G19, G29
  • Heart: R24, R35, R46

Winners and Rolling Out The Red Midway Post at Open-Minded Crafting Fun!.

Good morning! And a very happy Saturday!! The kids are in Atlanta with my sister. They went to stay with her yesterday for Midtown Atlanta. It's a big music festival in Atlanta. They are very excited! It started on Friday and goes through Saturday. This morning I am up at the crack of dawn to head to Atlanta to grab Bailey though. She has her first Lacrosse game today and it is an hour away! That is the furthest game though and the majority of them are at the high school here or close by. So, that will be my day; getting her to her game and then getting her back to my sisters! It is gorgeous in the mornings though so it will be a great ride!! Other than that... Thursday the boys both had eye appointments... and on Friday it was the girl's turn. I did go with Kevin and Michael on Thursday and then Bailey and I headed back Friday morning. Now it is the weekend.. time to relax and create!!  Have a great weekend everyone!!

This morning you will find the Winners and DT Picks at Open-Minded Crafting Fun. Then at noon you will find the midway post with additional inspiration from the team!! Our sponsors for Challenge #19: Roll Out The Red are:

We are so blessed with amazing sponsors! And I can't thank them enough!!  Be sure to visit them to show your support!  Where would be without our amazing artists who create amazing images so we can in turn create our crafts!!

Okay.. on to my creation for our Roll Out The Red Midway:

For this one I created a little gift card holder box using my Cameo!  Have I told you how much fun I'm having with it? LOL!!!  For the top I used a Stitchy Bears image - Apple Pie and I colored it my Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I did a little bit of decoupage on it. I cute the apple with the Cameo and used all scrap papers from my fall papers from last year. The die cut used to cut the image is a Spellbinders die. I added some red chalk around the edge of that die. I used two different stamps to stamp inside the apple and I stitched around the edge of that top paper. I added the patterned papers around the edge and you can see the inside holds a card.

Fancy and Frilly at Delicious Doodles.

Happy Friday Everyone! Oh I couldn't be happier that it is Friday!! I'm glad the weekend is almost here so I can just relax and try to get back to 100%!!! I hope you all enjoy your Friday and your weekend!!! I'm going to just do some crafting this weekend. No plans to do anything else.. relax and craft!! LOL!! We'll see how my plans go :)  Hard to say when you have kids and a husband! LOL Alright.. On to why you are really here....

Today is the start of Challenge #105 at Delicious Doodles and our theme is Fancy And Frilly. This one was really tough for me.. I had to really think about what the heck Fancy and Frilly would entail LOL  So... lace.. that's what I came up with. Here is my creation:

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I have with my Cameo LOL  For everything I have to make I have to search first to see if there is anything special I want to add or create. I actually found this little post it note box/easel card on someone's blog! I wish I had written it down, because I can't remember where I was! I figure hey... you don't have to use it for post its.. you could put anything in that little drawer!!  I am using paper scraps from last years Christmas papers. I distressed some of the paper edges. The image I used is Jolly Holly Postbox which you can find at the Delicious Doodles Shop. I colored the image with my Copic markers. I added some stickles around the edge of the Spellbinders die cut that I used to cut out the image. No decoupage on this one!!! I know.. surprising isn't it!! LOL   I added some red Stickles on the berries. I used my Gold Spica for the gold lettering on the box. I added the green Candi and then I added ribbon to the top to finish it off. On the bottom I added gems to hold the easel.. there is one in the front and one in the back to sandwich the easel. Then I layered the ribbon to give it the frilly look LOL  I added some red pearls on the drawer and that about does it for this one!! :)

Copic Markers Used:
  • Holly: YG03, YG05, YG09
  • Box: B21, B23, B26
  • Berries: R14, R35, R46
  • Bluebirds: E95, E97, E99, B21, B23, B24, B29
  • White: N1, N3, N5, N7

DT Day at MelJen's Designs - Box It Up!

Good morning everyone!! Today is my DT Day at Meljen's Designs! And this month we have a Box It Up! Challenge. I have never created a box, so this was definitely a challenge. I had a co worker at work ask me if I would make her a card for her 5th grader. She would be graduating 5th grade this year. So, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to create a box to put the card in. I also wanted to see if I could create a bookmark attached to a card. So, that is what I did. Here is what I came up with:

This is the box, opened up with the card inside.

These two are the box and the card.

Here are different views of the box.

These are the front of the card.

Here is the inside of the card and the bookmark is on the right with the homemade tassle.

And here is the bookmark. I perforated the edge so that it can be torn/cut off and used as a bookmark.

This was really a great challenge. I really enjoyed designing the box, the card and the bookmark. I hope my co worker will like it too for her daughter.

I used Grad Cap and Grats Grad Frame from Meljen's Designs to create the box, the card and the bookmark. I used all kinds of scrap papers that I had left over from back to school items. I also used gems from All That Scraps. I used several die cuts for the card and a Doodlebug stamp for Congrats! I used some eyelets and twine on the box. I used DMC thread to create the tassle on the bookmark. I used a sketch for the card:
