Yellow Mother's Day

Good morning everyone! Me again with another card. I'm working from home today. The kids are going with my sister later this morning. They are going to go to the Dogwood Festival I believe. This weekend should be a quiet weekend. We have MotoGP motorcycle races and I may go rent the Peanuts movie from Redbox. Other than that.. I'm hoping to color and craft and take it easy :) Have a great Friday everyone and a great rest of your weekend too! See you on Sunday for the next Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenge!

So, yellow is not my favorite color, but this one went yellow. Here is one of my Mother's Day cards:

This image is from Delicious Doodles and was colored with my Prismacolor Pencils. I've used some different patterned papers and card stock and kraft papers. I splattered a bit of yellow paint. I distressed some of the papers edges. I did a bit of dry embossing and inked the top of the embossing on some kraft. I've added buttons and thread as well. The Mom is stamped, as is the Happy Mother's Day on the inside.

O' Christmas Tree

Good evening everyone! I can't believe it is already Sunday and my two weeks are over and it's time to go back to work!! That time just flew by! Now it is time to get back in a rhythm. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a wonderful New Year! And may you have a wonderful year ahead! I have tried to relax the last couple of days and craft. I managed to get one card finished. I really can't seem to speed things up. I take so long to finish anything LOL  Oh well.. that's just the way I am! And tomorrow it is back to work, which means it slows everything down too. The kids head back to school on Tuesday. And I'm hoping for a winter storm to head this way LOL  I want some snow!

I have also been working on the post for the first new monthly challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun. Stay tuned for an introduction of the new team and our very first monthly challenge starting on the 10th!

Alright... enough of that :D  Here is my share for today. You can find my creations at either my Etsy Shop or my Zibbet Shop.

For this card I have used Christmas Star from Star Stampz. I have colored the image with Copic Markers. I've layered the image a bit. The background was all inked with Distress Inks (Black Soot, Seedless Preserves, Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean) I've inked the clouds with Black Soot and Broken China. I've added snow falling using my Copic Opaque White. The question mark I colored with Black Wink of Stella. I used my Snow Marker for the snow. I used yellow acrylic paint to paint the shine around the star and I've used white acrylic paint to paint the clothing puff and the frost coming out of her mouth. The papers are all scraps. I've distressed the edges of each of the strips and then I sewed around each of them. The three snowflakes were cut using the Silhouette Cameo and I covered them with glitter. I used a white and gold snowflake button as the center of each of the snowflakes. I used two Paper Smooches stamps - Peace On Earth on the outside and Merry Christmas on the inside. I had a lot of fun trying to come up with a background using the distress inks. I'm going to try to work on some new techniques this year :)  And I was so happy to get another Christmas card finished! Thank you for looking!!

One more Gift

Hi everyone!! And a very happy Monday! I just need to get through Monday and Tuesday!! Then I'm taking off until the 4th of January. I'll still have to do a little bit of work, but for the most part I'm off! and home!! :D  So I'm very excited about that LOL I have gotten zero coloring done this past weekend, so I'm looking forward to that! What else?  My youngest daughter got in trouble again this weekend. Big time!! And it was with the same girl that she got grounded for a week before. So now, she isn't allowed to ever see that person again! Although, I think she realizes that is a smart choice herself. Other than that it was a pretty good weekend.

So, I'm off to work.. Have a great week everyone!! Here is what I'm sharing today. The first two are the before photos:

So, these are the before photos. I can't believe I actually managed to take photos before I started altering them!! LOL I picked these up at the Goodwill around the corner. As you can see, they are just plain black little lanterns. I thought I would try to alter them and come up with something that my mother might like. So, I've altered these to give to my mother as a Christmas Gift. Here is how they turned out:

So, to start I painted these in a Hammertone Bronze paint. Then I took the silver rub and made the center metal all silver. I added some string of pearls to the edge of the roof of the lantern and to the very top of the lantern. I added some lace on the top of the lantern too. I've added lots of different flowers around the lantern and a few buttons as well. I took those vines and wrapped them up the stand leaving some to drape down over the top. I also added that butterfly at the top of each one. It surprises me how much it brightened it up by adding the bronze paint. I love how they turned out. I hope my mother will like them! Oh! And I added two battery operated tea lights for her too :)  No fire in these lanterns!

Happy Birthday Western Style.

Good afternoon everyone!!  Let's see... I went back to bed at about 7:30 am and I slept until a little after 11 am. I NEVER do that! LOL But! We are going to try to stay up and watch Bathurst, which starts about 8:30 pm and will go until after midnight. We will see how it goes! Kevin went and took a nap too. He will be able to stay up... he handles it much better than I do! So, I'm hoping to keep busy coloring and crafting! We will see how it goes! That is it for today... Bailey is going to have a friend spend the night I believe.

Here is my creation that I worked on today:

For this one I have used Mae Western from KennyK! I've colored her on kraft with my Prismacolor Pencils. I did a small amount of layering. I cut the WANTED out using the Silhouette Cameo. I used ChalkOla Chalk Markers around the edge and colored in the stars with the brown as well. I have inked and distressed most of the edges. Around the image was cut with a My Favorite Thing die. One strip was embossed with a Sizzix Embossing Folder. I added ink to the folder as well to give it that bit more. I have added some stitching, gems on the WANTED cut, twine and a charm, a few buttons and a few pearls which were colored brown using my Copic Markers. I created the sentiment and printed it on kraft. On the inside I used the same papers.. these are all scraps! I'm so excited to use all of the kraft and brown scraps! I still have a bunch more to go! I also inked and distressed the papers on the inside, added a bit of stitching and used the embossing folder on a strip as well!

School Time Hero.

Good morning everyone! Happy Wednesday :)  I'll be off to work in a bit. First I have a Pulmonary Appointment. It's my yearly visit since I sleep with a Bi-Pap. Everyone says as I lose weight that I will get rid of the Bi-Pap, but I'm thinking that probably won't happen. I think the main factor is the HUGE ping pong size tonsils in the back of my throat LOL  Anyway! I sleep well with it and don't care if it goes.. as long as I sleep :)  After that I'll be headed off to work. It is a rainy day today... I'm hoping it holds off while I get to work this morning, but we will see. I'll drag out the rain gear. The car is in the shop for a recall and to see what is going on with the electronics. We dropped it off yesterday and they don't even call you. I don't get that! You would think they would give you a call and let you know they aren't finished and they will be keeping it. Not a word from them at all. Kevin will have to go there today and talk to them. Once I'm at work I don't get any service in the building.

Okay! On to my card for today!

For this little school creation I used Avenger A Plus from Tiddly Inks. I colored this with my Copic markers and did a bit of layering on the image. I used a little bit of gold Wink of Stella on the image as well. I used a Spellbinders die to cut around the image. The sentiment on the side is a stamp. I added a couple of buttons, a bit of yellow ribbon, those sparkly red buttons and the little ruler charm. The A+ was cut from the Silhouette Cameo. It was actually cut for a different card, but I didn't use it. The inside I also added some ribbon, buttons and sparkly buttons to finish it off.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E13; R20
  • Cape: B21, B24, B28
  • Dress and Mask: R22, R24, R29, R46, R59

Back To School Fairy*

Happy Wednesday! Two more days and I'm off for the weekend! Yippee! I decided to take Friday and Monday for the holiday and to spend a nice long last weekend with my Father-In-Law before he heads back to Australia. He heads back on Monday. So, I'm off to work soon. I hope everyone has a great day!

Here is my school card for today:

For this card I used a Sweet Pea Image -- Helen Reis's The Book Fairy. I thought she would be a great image for a school card. Also, I have been trying to figure out what image I was going to use to do the August Create and Learn Monthly Colouring Class Challenge at Kit and Clowder. Me... I had to be a bit different LOL I wanted to do a brick wall.. instead of the stone type bricks. And... I wanted to use my markers instead of pencils. So, I used Copic Markers to color the brick wall and the image. I did a bit of layering as well. I also tried really hard to make her wings look transparent. I also added a bit of clear Wink of Stella to add sparkle to her wings as well. All of the papers are from my scrap box. Next year I will have to find some new school papers. I think I'm about through all my scraps from last year LOL  I doodled the sentiment of 'Back To School' as well as the 'ABC123, the chemistry tube and geometry/algebra formulas. Then I added the charm and the twine and buttons. I tried to do all of that in the three primary colors of blue, red and yellow.  I also added some buttons and to the inside as well.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Bricks: E53, E55, E13, E09, E19; under wings: E13, E55, E08
  • Cement Between Bricks: W3, W5, W7
  • Wings: B0000, B01, B02
  • Red Book Binding & Red On Outfit: R22, R24, R29
  • Blue Book Binding, Glasses & Blue On Outfit: B04, B06, B26
  • Yellow Book Binding & Yellow On Outfit: Y11, Y13, Y15, Y19
  • Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E13, E35
  • Hair: Y21, YR23, E33, E35
  • Frame: C3, C5, C7, C9
