Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenge #6 - Seasons/Holidays

Good morning!! Happy 10th of the month!!  Today is a new challenge over at Open-Minded Crafting Fun. We are on Challenge #6, which has a theme of Seasons/Holidays. You can create anything for any holiday or any season. I can't wait to see what everyone creates! We will hopefully have a wide variety of items!

Our wonderful sponsors for June are:

We love our sponsors!! Please sure to show them the love!! They are so appreciated for all they do! Thank you!!

This challenge was a perfect excuse to create a Christmas card :)  So, that is exactly what I did:

For this one I started with my image from DigiStamps4Joy - Nativity Globe. The image was colored using Copic Markers. I did a bit of layering as well. I wanted to create a shaker with it, but then what to do with the shaker. I decided to put it on an easel card. The background of the globe image was created using Distress Ink. I created the snow flakes using Copic Opaque White. I've added some seed beads, star sequins and gold and white sequins on the inside of the shaker. I used some Wink of Stella on the star at the top. I've used all paper scraps. The metal tag says Merry Christmas and I've used some Alcohol inks to color it. I have also added some doodling on the bottom panel. I also doodled "a Savior is Born".  I also added a couple of rhinestone stars there as well. There are some stickers on the sides - the cross and the poinsettia. I added a bit of ribbon as well.

Copic Markers Used:
    • Manger: E31, E35, E37
    • Hay: Y00, Y21, Y32

After that they begin Lacrosse practices Monday through Friday each week. Kevin has a doctor appointment with the Neurologist on Monday to do a nerve test of some sort. Taylor has an Eye appointment on Tuesday to do some sort of testing. It will be a full week in deed. I hope you all have a great week ahead!!

I'm so excited for the very first Monthly Challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun! Our very first challenge starts today. Challenges will start on the 10th of each month. Our first challenge is Something New. So, we want to see new items, new products, anything that is new to you or even a new technique that you've wanted to try, something like that. Make sure you tell us what it is. We will get some awesome ideas from you all like we always do!

We have wonderful sponsors for January and we want to thank you all for the wonderful sponsorship and generosity each of you show:

Unfortunately, Smeared Ink has shut down and they will be missed.

Here is my card for this challenge:

This is New Year Birdie from Doodle Pantry. And for my New, I have done two things... I have made a shaker card.. and I've used one of my dies to do this. I have also used the Spotlight Technique which I have been wanting to try and kept putting it off. This was the perfect opportunity to try it out :)  So, that is exactly what I did. I colored my spotlight sections with my Copic Markers. I've used Spellbinders dies for the circles used as the spotlights. I've used a My Favorite Things die for the circles on the side that make up the shaker part of the card. I've used small glass balls and sequin in the shaker. I've also added three different colors of twine. I've braided some of these. That is it from me! I can't wait to see what you all come up with this month!  The challenge will end on February 9th and the winners and DT Favorites will be posted on February 20th. The next challenge will start on February 10th.

Busy With Christmas Gifts

Hi Everyone!!! I have not been doing a ton lately! I've been busy shopping and trying to make Christmas gifts. Today is my three (3) year anniversary!! I can't believe I've been married to Kevin for three (3) years! It just seems like yesterday! So... we went to the Field of the Woods in North Carolina yesterday. We did that for our Anniversary. We left out early in the morning and we got back early evening. We had a really wonderful day. We always do though. It is fun to hang out and travel with him :)  We have a great time always. So, today we did some Christmas shopping and had a really nice lunch. That was it for us :)  I thought I would start sharing some Christmas gifts that I have made. I can't share them on Facebook or they will see them LOL So, I'll post them on here now and then Facebook after Christmas :)

This is my first share. This is a Christmas gift for my sister. She collects Lizards, so I took this candle holder that we bought at Goodwill. It is made of steel and it was painted black at the start. I forgot to take photos before!

This was all iron and it was black. I've painted the whole thing orange. I had Kevin add the screw at the top so that it would hold a candle without the worry of it tipping over.  There was bamboo in the middle of these when I got them. I took all the bamboo out and I added the two thin canvases. I painted the lizards with my Copic markers. I wasn't sure how well they would do on a canvas, but with wanting to dot them I think it turned out okay. The outline was done with Copic liners. I did the background in watercolors. I added two velum sayings and a bit of other vellum. Kevin added some Acrylic to cover the vellum and canvases. I took two of the bamboo slats and I've added them to the sides. I added some sequins, a lizard charm and a bunch of flowers. I wanted it to be colorful and for her to be able to use it in her outside covered area near her pool. That is where she has a ton of lizards hanging. I also added a bit of wire at the top and bottom. So, that's it... my altered candle holder for my sister.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Green Lizard: YG00, YG01, YG05, YG07, YG17, YG67
  • Green Lizard Spots: B37, B69
  • Red Lizard: R20, R22, R24, R27, R29
  • Red Lizard Spots: Y15, Y19
  • Purple Lizard: V15, V17, BV08
  • Purple Lizard Spots: RV13, RV14, RV66

3 Girl JAM Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on the "Thankful for 3 Girl JAM Fans Blog Hop!"  The 3 Girl JAM design team has joined up with a few of our friends and fans to put together an awesome hop full of inspiration and fun!

3 Girl JAM has put together an awesome prize package of crafty goodness!  To win it, all you have to do is leave a comment on each stop of the hop.  Easy peezy!

Here is my project for our Hop. Thankful... I am thankful for my friends. This is something I made for a friend at work who is expecting next month. :) I gave her the card and the stroller full of Kit Kats, along with a little outfit for her little precious package coming.

I created this little carriage using my Silhouette Cameo. I've used cardstock and patterned paper. The patterned paper is from a Mambi Stack. I've inked a lot of the papers with black ink. I've added some ribbon and some small and large blue pearls. I've used some twine to hang a carriage charm. I've used two brads on the carriage umbrella piece. And then of course I've filled it with yummy Kit Kats which I can't eat any longer LOL  Oh well! :D

For this bottle shaped card I have used a Tiddly Inks image, Lullaby. I've colored the image with my Copic Markers and I've done just a small amount of layering. I popped the mother up one level. I've used the same papers I used for the carriage project. I've also inked the papers with black ink. I've added some blue sequins, gems and pearls towards the top of the bottle. And I've also added some ribbon towards the bottom of the card. You can find Challenges that I have entered both projects in at the bottom of the post :)

Copic Markers Used:
  • Skin: E000, E00, E11, E21, E04
  • Hairband, Shirt and Blanket: B00, B02, B04

Thanksgiving Cornucopia*

Hi Everyone!!  It has been a day today!! I worked from home, but this morning I had two appointments .. one with the Physiotherapist and one with the Dietitian. I went in.. they did my weighing. I'm down to 217 and I have not lost any muscle this month.. which is a great thing. But, then they started talking about my obsession with the scale.. with hubby too. I know I have a problem, so we talked about it. I fought the tears as long as I could LOL but then they came. I hate that I get all emotional!! So, they are going to send me to the Psychologist so we can see if we can come up with some things to help me work through this. I know I'm obsessed and I also know that if I were to gain anything that I would mortified. I'm hung up on the .. you have a year and a half to lose the weight that they tell you about. I know that I've done well... Down from 295 top weight, but I still feel like I'm not doing well enough. I see that I'm 6 months in and others have lost more. I tell myself that I'm doing well... I'm lifting so I'm not losing muscle... I'm just losing fat and they show me that every time I go in, but those numbers are killing me! So... we will see how that appointment goes. I certainly don't want something to hit me in the end and I get all down and go back to bad habits. So... better to jump on it now! I've worked too hard to get to where I am.. I feel better.. I look better.. I'm healthier. Why is that not enough for me? I have no idea. And why do I keep comparing myself to others! I can't seem to stop. Ughhh!!  A struggle every day... I can do this too!  And my hubby is the best!! He is the best support!! I love him dearly for being there.. being honest and helping through everything. And you know what... Jesus answering my prayers for help with this. Jesus loves me this I know!

Okay.. enough of my dribble :D  Here is my card for today:

This image and the sentiments are From The Heart. I had so much fun creating this with the sentiments and the image both!! I colored the image with my Copic Markers and did a bit of layering. I added some stitching to all of the folds. On the front with the "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment I added some dew drops. I also inked all the edges.. of the sentiments, the card base and the patterned paper. On the middle sentiment I added some sequins. Then, on the back panel I have the image which was cut around by a My Favorite Stamps die. I did a bit of inking around the image by masking it with another printed image. I added some twine and the leaf charm and a few gems. The leaf gem was colored with some alcohol inks. The card base and top papers were all cut using the Silhouette Cameo. I hope you like it!!
