Open-Minded Crafting Fun May Challenge #5

Good morning everyone!! Happy Tuesday and Happy 10th of the Month! Today is a new challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun and this month we are celebrating the theme "Use Your Favorite Technique"! This is a fun one for me! I love seeing what everyone is else is doing and new techniques! It gives me a ton of new ideas to make note of! I love this.. I can't wait to see what everyone does!!

Our wonderful sponsors for May are:

Thank you so much for your amazing sponsorship's this year!!  We can't express how appreciative we are to all of you!! And here is my card creation for this challenge:

For this one I have used The Little Dragonfly from Julia Spiri Stamps. I have no idea where I picked up this awesome flower scene. It is just loaded with tulips. When I saw it I thought it would be perfect to put her flying above them. I colored everything with my Copic markers. I have used a couple of die cuts and everything is done with scraps. I also added the ribbon, the small pearls on the butterfly and the small star gems that I purchased from Etsy. I have done a bit of image layering on this and there is my favorite technique... well one of them! I love decoupage, layering my images. I also love coloring with Copics, die cuts and creating backgrounds with Distress Ink. I have also used some Copic Opaque White on her hair.

Mother's Day Digi Darlas

Good morning everyone! I can't believe tomorrow is Mother's Day!! Today I am going to take my mother to our church. They are having a BBQ Fundraiser this weekend. We are going to go over there and have a nice BBQ plate with everyone. It is going to be a beautiful day to be outside too! It should be fun :) And then tomorrow will be my day to do nothing HAHA! Just what I want! I can hang out and color or do whatever I want! Isn't that what is supposed to happen on Mother's Day? hehehe

That will be the weekend...  a bit of a relaxed weekend I'm hoping. The weekends really do go by too quickly.  What else is going on with everyone?  My oldest, Taylor, finished up her finals this week at University. She will finish up with A's and B's for this semester. She isn't really keen on her Accounting or Finance professors. She took five (5) classes this past semester too. I think it was a bit overwhelming for her. I think she will go down to four (4) classes again as it seemed more manageable. And with Taylor, she wants all A's and it was a lot harder to get that with the extra class. She felt like one class was always getting neglected. Good on her for wanting to do well. I'm really proud of her.

My other two have two more weeks left in High School. They have their End of Course Testing next week and the following week. From what they tell me, everyone is passing everything. That means that Michael will pass math and that is HUGE! But his teacher is making him do the work and he is succeeding. After school is out I'm sending him to his sister for the summer. He says that he wants to come back after summer and finish at Allatoona. With that said, his sister and I have spoken and Michael can graduate on time, the end of next year, if he gets through three math classes. The only way I can see him successfully doing that is with his sister's help. She is a whiz at math and she will be able to help him. I am not able to help him because I can't remember half of that stuff. It has just been too long since I've done any of that. Her and I talked about it and we will see if she can convince him to stay up there and get through his last year. Time will tell :)

Well... that is all the rambling I will do! Here is a Mother's Day card from me:

This is an image from Digi Darla's, who is no longer around. The image is Loving Arms. I've colored this with Copic Markers. I created the wall and floor around the image of the mother and baby on the chair. I've added the little porcelain flowers, some skittles, twine and charm. The Happy Mother's Day is stamped. I've managed to use all scraps for this card. The banner is die cut as are the corners on the inside. I added some additional skittles on the inside as well. I have done a small amount of layering on the image.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R20
  • Baby Blanket: B000, B00, B01, B02, B04
  • Dress: R000, R20, R22
  • Chair: G03, G09, G19, G29
  • Chair & Floors: E34, E35, E37, E39
  • Wall: B0000, B000, B00, B01, RV04

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi Everyone! And I hope you all have had a very Happy Valentine's Day!! I have spent the day with my wonderful husband. I got him a new Kindle, because he needed one! :)  And we went out and had lunch. Other than that we have just hung out at home together. And for us .. that is perfection!

What else has we been up to? The kids are out of school next week. Michael has been working. He also has another ingrown toenail. I have a feeling we will end up at the doctor again for that. He was soaking it this morning, but he couldn't get it cut. He is wanting to wait it out, because he knows it will hurt when they cut it. Bailey helped Kevin and I shovel some crush and run yesterday. We put that in the bike port and the walkway to the house. We also filled up the spots in the driveway that are broken. I think it will take some time to settle and dry out, but I think it will be well worth it. It is much better than the mud that we had. Today, she has gone to spend a couple of days with a friend.

Tomorrow it is back to work and Kevin has an Ultrasound. The weekend has just flown by so quickly! Now, I wanted to share a card with you. This was my first custom order on Etsy. I had someone purchase a card and then ask if I would make her daughter a custom card for her boyfriend for Valentine's Day. She calls him Peach Butt and wanted it to say Happy Valentine's Day Peach Butt. So, with that in mind, this is what I came up with:

For this custom card I created a Peach shape to cut with the Silhouette Cameo. I was able to use scraps for this card! I'm really digging into them. I inked it all up with my Distress Inks to give it that peach flavor :)  I cute the leaves with some die cuts on some embossed paper, stamped the Happy Valentine's Day. Peach Butt was cut with one of my Sizzlit letters and the hearts are a Memory Box die. The little peach is an emoticon that she wanted me to use. The red glitter circles are stickers. And that is it! I had a lot of fun making this unique card! I hope I can have some custom orders again :)

Valentine's Kitty

Hi everyone!! We are bracing for the winter storm here in Georgia. I'm really not expecting that we will get anything at all, but we will see. North Carolina and Tennessee are getting it! I wish we would get it here! I want snow!! I went into work this morning and got some stuff done that I needed to be there to do. Then I headed home with the rest of my work. I didn't want to get in the mess of the Atlanta panic once it hits. And the kids get out two hours early, so that won't help the traffic. Now I am home, nice and warm. I have all my work to get to, but I wanted to have a bit of lunch first before I got started again.  So, here I sit eating and blogging.

I wanted to share my second Valentine's card that is in that set of five that I have made. Here it is:

This little 3 x 3 is the second in my set of five Valentine's cards that I put on Etsy. This one is using Love You Kitten from Gerda Steiner. I thought this little kitten was perfect for a Valentine's card. I decided to make him a calico :)  I colored him with my Copic markers. I've done a bit of layering on him. I've added some clear Wink of Stella on his little red heart that he is holding. I used card stock and a bit of patterned paper for this card. The two circles are die cuts and I've also added some stitching and pearls. The little heart is from Drawn With Character. it was a set of hearts and I have used those hearts on several different cards. For the sentiment I've used my Silhouette Cameo to cut it out and then I used that as a stencil. I used black ink and added a little bit of white opaque marker to fill in the holey spots in the letters. I cut a couple more die cuts for the inside and that was it. Oh! I used a bit of Chalk Marker, red, to color in some of the small hearts around the black circle under the kitten.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Black: C3, C5, C7, C9
  • Orange: YR12, YR15, YR14
  • Paw Pads and Ears: R20, R22
  • Heart: R20, R22, R24, R29, R59

Open-Minded Crafting Fun January Challenge #1

Good morning everyone! It has been a busy week. Bailey had a Lacrosse meeting Thursday morning.Michael had his wisdom teeth removed on Thursday. He did well.. he only had to have a large incision on one of them. This next week will be busy too. Bailey has Lacrosse conditioning Tuesday through Thursday this week and next week too. After that they begin Lacrosse practices Monday through Friday each week. Kevin has a doctor appointment with the Neurologist on Monday to do a nerve test of some sort. Taylor has an Eye appointment on Tuesday to do some sort of testing. It will be a full week in deed. I hope you all have a great week ahead!!

I'm so excited for the very first Monthly Challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun! Our very first challenge starts today. Challenges will start on the 10th of each month. Our first challenge is Something New. So, we want to see new items, new products, anything that is new to you or even a new technique that you've wanted to try, something like that. Make sure you tell us what it is. We will get some awesome ideas from you all like we always do!

We have wonderful sponsors for January and we want to thank you all for the wonderful sponsorship and generosity each of you show:

Unfortunately, Smeared Ink has shut down and they will be missed.

Here is my card for this challenge:

This is New Year Birdie from Doodle Pantry. And for my New, I have done two things... I have made a shaker card.. and I've used one of my dies to do this. I have also used the Spotlight Technique which I have been wanting to try and kept putting it off. This was the perfect opportunity to try it out :)  So, that is exactly what I did. I colored my spotlight sections with my Copic Markers. I've used Spellbinders dies for the circles used as the spotlights. I've used a My Favorite Things die for the circles on the side that make up the shaker part of the card. I've used small glass balls and sequin in the shaker. I've also added three different colors of twine. I've braided some of these. That is it from me! I can't wait to see what you all come up with this month!  The challenge will end on February 9th and the winners and DT Favorites will be posted on February 20th. The next challenge will start on February 10th.

Fairy Magic*

Good evening! And a very happy Thursday, almost Friday! I have had such a productive week at work. It has been a really good week. Tomorrow, Bailey has a mandatory Spring Lacrosse meeting at 7:45 am. Then she has a doctor appointment. Then it is off to school for her and I have some work to get done. And it is Friday tomorrow! That is fantastic! Time for the weekend again! We don't really have any plans for the weekend. Her coach said something about a team needing a goalie. She gave the coach Bailey's email, but she hasn't heard from them, so we will see. Other than that it will be Hallmark Christmas movies and crafting LOL!!  My family is already sick of Hallmark. I'm not sure if we have a V8 race this weekend, but from Scott McLaughlin's posts, I'm thinking there is no race this weekend. No V8's and no MotoGP .... that means crafting and movies or crafting and music.  I hope you all have a great rest of your evening and a great day!!

Here is my card for today:

For this card I have used Fairy Magic from All Dressed Up. I've colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils. The background I used a dark grey pencil and Gamsol. I also used some blue Wink of Stella on the wings and on the edge of the blue butterfly. I also used some pink Wink of Stella on the edges of the pink butterflies and also on the Fairy Magic. The circle around the image was cut using a Spellbinders Die and the small butterflies.. I think they were a Spellbinders die ... but it could have been a My Favorite Thing too. I can't remember. I've added some pearls to the butterflies. Around the circle are some glass beads and then I also added the lace.

A Hedgehog Autumn.

Good afternoon everyone!! I was trying to get this post up this morning, but it just didn't work out. So I'm going to get it up now. I hope you all had a fabulous week! This was the LONGEST week! I thought it would never end! It just kept going on and on and on LOL!!  I'm just glad it is Friday and I'm home. I did get a lot accomplished this week.. so that is something good! It always feels good to have a productive week at work.  And tonight I don't have to go running anyone anywhere! Bailey is riding the bus home, Michael doesn't have to work and no one is going anywhere until tomorrow! Tomorrow, Bailey is going to hang out with her boyfriend all day for the cul-de-sac Halloween get together. That will last from the afternoon into the evening! And Michael works tomorrow. I really don't plan to do much of anything but craft! It should be a good, relaxing weekend :D

Here is my creation for today.. another Autumn card:

For this one I have used Hedgehog Pumpkin from Gerda Steiner. I think he is just ADORABLE!!! I colored him with my Copic Markers. I've done a bit of layering as well. I used a Spellbinders die to cut around him, which I inked with black. Then added another Spellbinders cut behind it in black. The pumpkins and Autumn were cut using the Silhouette Cameo. I've added some twine and dew drops. On the inside I used a Memory Box corner die and added some of those dew drops. The pumpkins have some orange glitter added to them as well. I've used all scraps with this. I've done pretty well using my scraps so far this season!!

Copic Markers Used:
  • Pumpkin Stem: E33, E35, E37
  • Hedgehog: E000, E21, E23, E25, E27, E29
  • Pumpkin: YR00, YR02, YR04, YR09
  • Nose: C5, C9
