Witch Way

Midnight greetings, spooky friends!  How goes your spooky season?  I put on Hocus Pocus yesterday but I fell asleep in the middle, so I'm not sure if that counts as watching the movie.  Tonight I have a cute witch card to share:

This is the second Halloween card I made with this CASE-ing Tuesday Sketch:

I haven't shared the first one yet but the diagonal on that one goes the same direction as the sketch.  For Ms. Witch tonight, I wanted to use the other pieces of DSP I had left over from the first card, and I used the reverse sides for the black and white patterns.

Stay spooky, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Haunt Ya Later
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Highland Heather, Stampin' Blends in Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie, Flirty Flamingo, Lemon Lolly, Old Olive, Petal Pink
Paper:  Pumpkin Pie, Thick Basic White, Cute Halloween DSP Stack
Accessories:  Stitched Shapes dies, Perennial Postage dies, Glitter Sequins, Dimensionals

Haunted Pumpkin Witch

WOW Ryan woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.  I don't even know what's up with him, but he is super angry this morning!  I hope that he gets it out of his system by the time I pick him up from school this afternoon.

For now, a card.

I'm still pulling out stamps from Halloweens past to make cards this year, and I sent out a half a dozen cards yesterday.  I used the colors from the Color Throwdown:

I translated that to Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight/Crushed Curry, and Shaded Spruce.  I stamped the star with Daffodil Delight, but it turned out so dark (my pad is still pretty juicy) that I matched it to Crushed Curry DSP.  I was able to use several scraps of DSP and cardstock thanks to the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday:

Another fun sketch!  I was going to try to make a stack of pumpkins but I couldn't seem to get it to work, so I went with one big jack-o-lantern instead.  And looking at the Color Throwdown inspo pic, now I want to try a Mickey pumpkin!  Maybe next week.

Cheers, y'all.  If you have kiddos, I hope yours are in a better mood than mine is!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Jack of All Trades, Haunt Ya Later
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Pumpkin Pie, Shaded Spruce, Thick Basic White, Crushed Curry & Shaded Spruce DSP

October 2018

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I'm planning to do some scrapping today : )  And also laundry, because there's always laundry.  But for right now, I've got a layout to share.

Pics are from the month of October 2018.  Man, Ryan was so little!  This kid has gotten so TALL lately.  Amusingly enough, you see that bear shirt in the two photos top left?  I got him that shirt in 2T and loved it so much I went back to buy it in a bigger size, so he still has a 5T one but he hasn't worn it lately and it will soon be in the pile of clothes he's outgrown.  I used to buy him alllll the clothes with bears and/or foxes on them; nowadays his clothes are like 98% superheroes and at least half of them are red and/or black.  He has a lot of Spider-Man and The Flash stuff.

Today's color palette:  Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock, Night of Navy, Grapefruit Grove, and Whisper White.  I've used Pretty Peacock on several layouts just recently and I like the Grapefruit Grove as a more muted orange for this one.

Okay, I'm off to go do all the things.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Full Calendar, Jack of All Trades, Spooky Sweets, Haunt Ya Later
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock, Night of Navy, Grapefruit Grove, Garden Green
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock, Night of Navy, Thick Whisper White, Woven Threads DSP
Accessories:  None

Witch Way Agnes

Hey hey, happy Wednesday!  How many of y'all took advantage of SU!'s one day stamp sale?  *raises hand* I admit, I impulse-bought a few stamp sets!  Hey, it's a reward for having blood drawn this morning, right?

But for today, I'm going back to some retired stamps!

It just isn't the Halloween season without at least one appearance from Agnes, Frankie, and/or Vlad! *gasp* HOW have I not inked up Agnes or her friends since 2017?!  Oh yeah, this was long overdue.  I had a great time today coloring in Agnes with various Stampin' Blends, and then I masked her off (I have a mask I cut out ages ago that lives in the stamp case) and used a blending brush to add in some Coastal Cabana background for her.

How fun is the Try Stamping on Tuesday sketch?

Here's the theme challenge from Cupcake Inspirations:

And the challenge from Retro Rubber:

I want to say I've had Best Fiends since about 2006, and Haunt Ya Later is from 2015, so they're both very firmly in the retro category :)

I've only got two hours left before I have to go pick Ryan up from daycare so I'd better hurry up and get some things done!  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Best Fiends, Haunt Ya Later
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana; Stampin' Blends in Highland Heather, Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, and Cinnamon Cider

Spooktacular Witch

Oy, y'all.  Ryan has been EXTRA two this week and uuurrrrgh.  I'm tired.  But I needed to make a card because the secretary at the hubs' work is quitting her job so she and her husband can go RVing all over the States.  We got her a little going away present, so here's the card to go with it.

She's a biiiiiig fan of Halloween, and decorated the entire building with all kinds of Halloweeny goodness, so I think she'll like this witch.  I pulled out a couple of retired stamps to play with today, and brayered the background to match the gift bag we're giving her.  And it's all on Shimmery White cardstock because sparkly.  Oh, I embossed the sentiment with that new Shimmer Black embossing powder because it's fun.

Here's the sketch from Fab Friday:

Just perfect for my little witchy-poo :)  I may try to squeeze in one more Halloween card this year, how about you?  Uh, maybe it would help if I actually sent cards out instead of just making them and letting them gather dust in my craft room...

Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU! (some retired)

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Versamark, Stampin' Blends in Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Petal Pink, Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather, & Smoky Slate

Bear Book: October

So, last Saturday's bear book layout was one of my very favorites and this week's is my least favorite from the book. :p  But not every layout/card/whatever can be your favorite, right?

Missy isn't huge into Halloween, so instead I just went with a pumpkin image and Pumpkin Pie page base to keep the fall vibe.

These bear stamps are from Mama Elephant, I thought they were sweet for this book.  But I think Missy will get more use out of them than I will, so I gave the stamps to her as well as the book :)

Pumpkin.  The layout is okay, it just feels a little....blah to me compared to the other ones in the book.

Today's colors:  Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Garden Green (because I work in green & gold wherever possible), Night of Navy, and Whisper White.

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Bears from Mama Elephant, Haunt Ya Later (pumpkin)
Ink:  Basic Black, Night of Navy
Paper:  Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green, Night of Navy, Thick Whisper White, Flock Together DSP

A-Team Baby Book: October

Happy Saturday, y'all!  Time for another baby book layout, and we're up to October!

I love the Haunt Ya Later stamp set that was in last year's holiday mini, a little bummed that it didn't carry over but that doesn't mean I can't still play with it when I want to.

Witches can have purple eyes, right?  :D

And a wee pumpkin for the journaling block.

Today's Halloweenie color combo:  Basic Black, Cucumber Crush, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.

Have a great weekend!

2015 Showcase, Part 2

Part 2 of the card showcase, so July through December.

July's pick features the fantastically-named stamp set Awesomely Artistic, which I need to use a whole lot more in 2016.  Sometimes having so many stamps is a problem ;)

July's other pick is this ax murderer card, which is quite possibly one of my favorite cards in the history of ever because of a joke I share with a friend, whom I have referred to for years as "my online friend, the ax murderer".  She thinks it's funny too.

My pick for August is this little stellar card, I love the bright colors and all the white space just seems to make it work.

September's pick is the faboolous Stella, who got sent to my friend Sarah who loves all things Halloween and even managed to have her daughter on her favorite holiday.

October's pick is this jellyfish card, just because I think it's funny.

November's pick is this beary thankful card, because I just couldn't get through an entire showcase without that Thankful Forest Friends bear.

November's other pick is this Star Wars birthday card, which I somehow neglected to sign when I gave it to my brother.  Oops.  But I was pretty proud of how Artoo turned out...maybe I should give BB-8 a try?

And to finish up the showcase, December's pick is this sparkly blue poinsettia card, which I sent to my mom because she loves sparkly and blue and all things Christmas.

Happy New Year, peeps!

Haunt Ya Later, Pumpkin

Grumpy greetings, peeps.  I tell ya what, I've been grumpy all day--ever since I dropped my car off at the dealership for some work this morning, and they forgot I was waiting there for 45 minutes for a courtesy shuttle to take me back home and I hadn't had breakfast yet.  Grr.  But then I complained and a manager drove me about two minutes later.

Anyway.  I did finally manage to grump my way to a finished card this afternoon.

I couldn't resist making just one more Halloween card since I got those spider web doilies and then I forgot to use them before now.  Oops.  Well, I'm sure I can use them in baby books.  Anyway, I used the sketch from The Paper Players:

I modified the sketch a bit so the white circle is now the spider web doily, and the red heart (any shape) is now a circle in the center of the doily, but all the pieces of the sketch are there.  I was much more strict in my interpretation of the ColourQ color challenge:

Yup, I used those colors and only those colors.  Whee.  Anyway, this grump is getting off the computer and going to spend time with her hubs.  I shall return tomorrow for the Friday Flashback, hopefully in a less grumpy mood!  Haunt ya later, pumpkins.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Haunt Ya Later
Ink:  Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive
Paper:  Tangerine Tango, Thick Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry DSP
Accessories:  Circles Framelits, spider web doily, Dimensionals

Nachos: Gimme All Your Candy

Hey Nacho fans!  It's not too much longer till Halloween, so the Nacho Average Challenges crew has an appropriately Halloweeny color combo for you this week:

You might recognize these colors from the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper....which I don't have ;)  But fear not!  I made my own DSP.

It wasn't until after I finished this card that I remembered I bought spider web doilies and I forgot to use them!  So I now need to make another Halloween card :)  This one already went out in the mail, actually.  I'm very proud, I mailed out about 10 cards yesterday.  And now I need more stamps....postage stamps I mean.  I bet my husband thinks I reached critical mass on stamps at least three years ago.  (He's wrong, but he's pretty cute.  And he really doesn't give me too much grief about my crafting addictions.)

So go find yourself a handful of creativity-boosting peanut M&Ms (or your chocolate of choice) and post your Nachoriffic creation on the Nacho blog.  Until next time, cheers peeps!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Haunt Ya Later, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink:  Tangelo Twist, Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, Cucumber Crush
Paper:  Tangelo Twist, Basic Black, Very Vanilla
Accessories:  Hexagon punch, Neutrals Candy Dot, Watercolor Wonder Crayons (long retired, but hey!), Skintone Blendabilities (also retired, but they work!)

Strawberry the Cat

Hey peeps, how's your Thursday going?  I'm tired.  Since my little boy dog can't go up and down stairs due to his leg injury, the hubs and I have been sleeping on an air mattress in the basement because we're the special kind of dog parents who do things like that.  We have a nice air mattress, but it's still an air mattress, and I don't think the hubs is sleeping any better than I am.  Sigh.

But anyway, you're here to see some stampy artwork, not hear about the trials and tribulations of injured dog care.

Meet Strawberry, who is Stella and Stefan's cat.  Why'd they name a black cat Strawberry?  Who knows why a witch and a vampire (even cute ones) do anything.  Yes, I'm slightly obsessed with this stamp set.  I haven't used the pumpkin stamp yet...

Meet this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, and Basic Black.  Sure, it woulda been Halloweenier if I'd used orange, but I was going with the challenge colors here.

And I used this week's Retro Sketch, it's been a while since I played along over there:

Can I just say how much I love those Hello You Thinlits dies?  They're pretty spec-fabulous.  There are some other word dies in the holiday catalog that I like but I haven't ordered, so for now I shall continue to use the Hello You ones and talk about how much I love them.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Haunt Ya Later
Ink:  Basic Black, Pink Pirouette, Smoky Slate & Old Olive Blendabilities (I know they're retired, I just don't care)
Paper: Basic Black, Thick Whisper White, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight
Accessories:  Circles Framelits, Hello You Thinlits, Dimensionals

Special added bonus today!  I finished the birthday party invitations for my friend Sarah over the weekend and mailed them off Monday.  I slightly tweaked the design before I made the whole set, so here is the final product:

I like it.  I inked up my Pale Plum ink pad because it was a bit dried out, and I added in the little flowers on the background and then some Rich Razzleberry sponging around the white panel.  I think it was just the extra touch these cards needed.

That's it for me today, peeps.  See you tomorrow for the Friday Flashback.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Fall Fest, Priceless, A Dozen Thoughts
Ink:  Tangelo Twist, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum, Basic Black
Paper:  Rich Razzleberry, Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black, Whisper White, Old Olive DSP
Accessories:  Fall Fun Framelits, Dimensionals

Fangtastic Stefan

Hey peeps.  I'm running a little bit behind with today's card, but I think it turned out pretty cute.

Meet Stella's friend Stefan!  Isn't he adorable?  I've dubbed him Stefan after a vampire in the Mercedes Thompson books; that Stefan has a VW van painted like the Mystery Machine in Scooby Doo and he's friendly and hilarious.  Which seemed like good qualities for our lil friend here.

I used the latest ColourQ challenge:

Only I switched out Going Gray for Smoky Slate, Really Rust for Cajun Craze, and Summer Starfruit for Delightful Dijon so I only used current colors (they're really not too far off of the colors in the swatch above).  But then I used retired ribbon and the retired skintone Blendabilities *rolls eyes*

I also used this week's Mojo Monday sketch:

Heyyyy, I stuck really close to the sketch this time, yay me.

Well, my friend Tiana challenged me on Fitbit to get more steps this week, so I've got to go kick some booty.  Cheers, peeps!

Nachos: Faboolous Stella

Howdy, peeps!  Does it feel like fall where you are yet?  We're starting to get there, I love the cooler temps.  And Halloween candy has already made its appearance in all the stores, which is trouble ;)  Far less trouble is today's Halloween-inspired color combo brought to you by the Nacho Average Challenges crew!

Do you love it?  I love it.  It doesn't *have* to be for a Halloween project, but I just got what is most likely the cutest set of Halloween stamps ever so I had to use them.

Meet Stella.  I heart Stella.  She's from the holiday catalog stamp set Haunt Ya Later, which also has a cute vampire, a kitty, a pumpkin, and several sentiment stamps, but I had to pair her with the "faboolous" stamp from Six Sayings (also in the holiday catalog).

I used my blender pens to color in Stella, and then added some Dazzling Details to her star necklace because what's more fabulous than sparkles?  I cut Stella out and put her on one of the Lots of Labels Framelit shapes along with my fabulous sentiment.  Some polka dot paper and the card was done, woohoo!

Your turn now!  Let's see your Nacho-riffic creations...upload to the Nacho blog for us to ooh and ahh over.  Cheers, peeps!
