There’s a little history to this piece by yours truly (circa 1992), originally done as a cover for my pal G. Michael Dobbs during his stint co-editing/co-publishing Animato! magazine in the 1990s.

But I’ll save that for another time; as well as all the reasons, pre-Jurassic Park, this image summed up, for me, the essence of Saurian Cinema.

The title of this painting, “From Gertie to Gwangi,” said it all, evoking the creators behind those iconic cinematic saurians—Windsor McCay, Willis O’Brien, Marcel Delgado, Ray Harryhausen—but I’ll save that for another time, too.

Suffice to say this will be the wrap-around cover for the first volume of Paleo Pop™: S.R. Bissette’s Tyrant® Saurian Cinema Guide, coming soon!
