Son of Celluloid Names DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK on its 5 Best Flicks of 2011 List

I love horror. I love it a whole fucking lot. If horror had any sense, it would get a restraining order against me. I also love anyone and everyone with the same passion for horror and not just the stuff that is pumped out endlessly by big studios (some great, some utter crap), but international delicacies, underground gems, and independent darlings. To truly love horror means to love it in all its forms and seek it out wherever it may be.

That is why I love SON OF CELLULOID and its writer, Nathan Hamilton. He's a true horror lover and knows his shit through and through. It is an incredible honor for our DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK to have a place on his BEST FLICKS OF 2011 List. Especially on a list where there are so many outstanding titles. And topping that list off? A film that is just so superb and brilliant (and got banned in its own country of origin) that it is a profound honor to have our film be on the same list as it.

What film am I talking about? And what else made the list? Well, no cheating, you'll simply have to soak it up RIGHT HERE at Son Of Celluloid.

Thank you so much, Nathan, for having our Hooker on such a wonderful list.

Bloody Best!

Molly Rydzel is Awesome

And in 2011, she's only getting better. As the New Year is upon us, we say goodbye to the past and step into the future. We all have our rituals. Some of us make resolutions. Some, like myself, make a list of goals and see how many they can check off throughout the year. Some just want to drunk, laid, and do some cool shit. And good for you guys.

Molly Rydzel, the beautifully talented writer is the head of EdibleBrains Productions, the author of not only one, but TWO full length plays (the second of which is currently being workshopped in conjunction with the Looking Glass Theater), and she is also the writer of all the films in the award winning Dead Walk in Brooklyn short film series. So, how does miss Rydzel bring in the New Year?

Dubbing 2011 as the Year Of The Independent Artist, and very rightfully so, she vows to send some more time with some pretty amazing artists. We are way beyond honored to have made the list. No, seriously. Check out the list and meet some absolutely incredible artists. And if this is the first time you're hearing about Molly Rydzel, you're welcome. Trust me, you'll want to keep your eyes on this incredible artist.

Check out her beautifully written article and meet some astounding artists HERE.

A very special thank you to Molly for including us among these amazing people.

So, what will you do this year, boys and grrls?

Excelsior~!!

2010 Was A Mother F*cker

With the countdown quickly approaching, we look back fondly at 2010. It's was a BIG, f'n year. So, grab yourself a shot of Jack and settle down for an epic recap...

We began 2010 the way we ended 2009, filming our second feature film with CJ Wallis, PLEASE SUBSCRIBE. The film is a documentary that follows Youtube sensations Tay Zonday, David Choi, Happyslip, and Daxflame and explores the impact of viral videos through the eyes of some of Youtube's most subscribed and recognizable personalities.

In January, we traveled to Los Angeles to meet up with Tay Zonday, Happyslip, and David Choi and wrapped filming on the project. The film will be hitting festivals in 2011. Enjoy the OFFICIAL TRAILER below for a sneak preview of PLEASE SUBSCRIBE.

On a very sad note, our dear friend, Hannah Neurotica, lost her father, Michael, to scleroderma on January 19th, 2010. We lost a very talented writer and horror fanatic that day. We had the privilege of knowing him briefly and know he will be missed by all those who's lives he touched.

Being the definition of strength reflected by the Women of Horror, Hannah went on to create and launch the very first WOMEN IN HORROR RECOGNITION month that February. It was the first of a now world wide phenomenon where celebrations occur in every dark corner celebrating and recognizing the great Women of Horror.

We were honored to pay tribute to this incredible event and created the WiH MASSIVE BLOOD DRIVE, a world wide event running all February long. How do you take part? Easy. Just give blood. Wherever you are, anytime, all month long, and tell 'em you're bleeding for Women In Horror. The event was a great success last year and we will continuing the tradition this year as we will continue to do forever. We will be releasing a NEW Blood Drive ad that is not to be missed and most likely be rejected by Blood Services much like last year's ad, seen below... *insert evil laughter*

2010 and WiH month also commenced the festival run of DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK. The very first festivals to show the film were two festivals in honor of WiH month, THE GHOULS ON FILM FESTIVAL and THE DOA PRETTY SCARY BLOOD BATH FILM FESTIVAL. We are blown away to be able to say that the film has been everywhere, from LA to the UK, Brazil, Vegas, Texas, Vancouver.... just to name a few. It's been one HELL of a year for DEAD HOOKER and we truly want to thank each and everyone of you for supporting us and our demented little film. Thank you to everyone who watched the film, bought a ticket, attended a festival, told a friend, wrote a blog, did an interview, reviewed the film, and told us about it! We can't begin to thank you enough for backing us. We wouldn't be where we are without you. Thank you from the bottoms of our twisted little hearts.

Now here's a little tune for your mind grapes while we go over the festivals, awards, and achievements for DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK...
