See You In the UK!
EIGHT!
DAYS!
TIL LONDON!!
AMERICAN MARY is coming to your town with Jen, me, Mary herself, Katharine Isabelle, brought to you by the rad folks at Film4 FrightFest before it's Universal Pictures UK DVD/BluRay release.
"FRIGHTFEST AMERICAN MARY TOUR Following its recent successful UK festival run, including the world's first screening at FrightFest back in August, we are delighted to be able to bring this stylish horror thriller to UK cinemas for a theatrical tour in January 2013.
Writers/directors Jen and Sylvia Soska, and Mary Mason herself, lead actress Katharine Isabelle, will be returning to the UK to join Alan Jones, Paul McEvoy and Ian Rattray to introduce shows the length and breadth of the country. Kicking off at London's legendary Prince Charles Cinema on Friday, 11 January the tour will be calling at Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sheffield, Leeds, Bristol and Brighton. Full details of dates, cinemas and times can be found below.
One of the year's most horrific highlights, American Mary tells the story of student Mary Mason (Katharine Isabelle) who grows increasingly disenchanted with the American medical school that she is attending and the doctors that she once idolised. The lure of easy money sends a desperate Mary through the gruesome world of underground surgeries, but soon finds it leaves more marks on her than the freakish clientele.
Clever, sexy, funny and utterly gorgeous to look at, American Mary features a standout lead performance from award winning actress Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps), and puts the Soska sisters, a.k.a. the Twisted Twins, squarely at the forefront of modern genre filmmaking.
On both sides of the Atlantic, Jen and Sylvia Soska's American Mary has already been celebrated with more than a dozen international film festival honours, including Best Picture (LA ScreamFest, ShudderFest) as well as Best Director and Best actress (Toronto after Dark, LA ScreamFest, ShudderFest).
Total Film Magazine voted Katharine Isabelle Best Actress at FrightFest back in August, whilst SFX magazine called American Mary the 'Best of the Fest'.

Hey UK, See You in the Darkened Theatre - Get Your American Mary Theatrical Tix
HEY UK!!! ARE YOU READY FOR AMERICAN MARY THEATRICAL?
"If You've never heard of American Mary, Where have you been? American Mary isn't a grunge band, it's not a cupcake and it's certainly not a new colour on the spectrum. American Mary is a classic modern thriller/horror (can I say that?) that has been blowing audiences away around the world. Universal Pictures in the UK are giving this one a huge push and to celebrate the DVD and Blu-ray release on January 21st, the film i
Struggling to make financial ends meet while studying to be a surgeon, talented medical student Mary Mason (Katharine Isabelle) finds herself reduced to applying for work at a local strip joint in order to pay off her mounting debts, where she is unexpectedly called upon to perform some illegal emergency surgery on one of the club’s clients and is instantly rewarded with a significant cash payment. Word of Mary’s scalpel-work soon reaches one of the club’s dancers, who approaches her offering to pay handsomely for some off-the-books, extreme body-modification work on a friend. The ensuing surgery is a huge success and Mary’s skills soon attract the attention of an underground network of high-paying clientele, all looking for someone to administer procedures and body-mod work unavailable through the usual legal channels.

If you can't make the tour, you'll miss out on THREE very special women who will worm their way into your geeky hearts and claim your soul by the time the Q&A has come to a close. The Soska Sisters are a talent on the rise, catch them before they end up like their mentor and their bodyguards start roughing you up if you even attempt to get close. Get your free hugs while you can... they love to hug and talk and take photos. The lovely and very criminally underrated Katherine Isabelle is just as approachable. These three ladies were the toast of Frightfest 2012 and once you see American Mary you'll understand why.
The film will also be released on January 11th 2013 in select cinemas nationwide but I highly suggest you travel to these special events because American Mary is one of the most challenging and creative films you will see in 2013, grab the tickets, book in the date, you won't be disappointed!"

Cool Hooker Luke
There are few words that actually an put the feeling into text of having DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK not only released in the UK & Australia - courtesy of Bounty Films, released on VOD with a limited theatrical release in the US & Canada - courtesy of IFC Midnight, and now on television - courtesy of The Horror Channel. It's enough to keep these filmmakers feeling extremely humbled by the outpour of kindness, support, and enjoyment of the flick.
It makes our life to hear what people have to say about the project. It was a great ambition of ours to make a project that was fun to watch and completely insane - to know that we hit the mark means the world to us. The flick hit the Horror Channel this past July 29th and I was stoked to see that this lovely horror-loving gentleman took the time to check it out --
Hi, I'm Luke.
I'm 29 and live somewhere in Suffolk, UK.
I now use this channel to talk about movies.
I films from all genres and times, and just want to see the best I can find.
But... I LOVE horror and exploitation.
Please comment on videos, cause thats why I do this; to chat about film.
Thanks for watching :)
Thank you, Luke, for watching! Great reviews. What did Luke have to say about our HOOKER? --
From the bottom of our twisted black hearts, thank you for watching and reviewing. Thank you for watching the film, hearing our story, and pimping our HOOKER. This review made me smile - thank you for taking the time to watch it.
HOOKER hits the The Horror Channel again tonight with a special intro from the sinfully sensational, Emily Booth, via The Horror Booth! Please spend tonight in with our dead whore with your friends - you won't regret it.

Bleeding Cool Twisted Twins Interview
Brendon Connelly is Bleeding Cool.
As our DEAD HOOKER made its incredible journey from trunk to UK, we had the esteemed pleasure of chatting with Brendon of the wicked awesome site, Bleeding Cool. He actually rang us up, which was very cool and with such vastly different time zones, always an adventure.
The UK has been absolutely astounding with their support of us and our DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK. I must admit on more than one occasion we've uttered, "that's it, I'm moving to the UK." And it's true. The UK holds a very special place in our deranged little hearts. I'm so happy that our film first debuted there at the Ghouls On Film Festival AND it was first released there.
Now, it's come home to Canada and the USA. Today, DHIAT is available everywhere on VOD courtesy of the wonderful people at IFC Midnight. Seriously. Go watch it. And then watch it again. And then leave it going as you fall asleep tonight.
In celebration of DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK DAY comes this wicked awesome interview with Brendon of Bleeding Cool.
We talk about ALL the good stuff....
Love. Horror. Dead Hookers. American Mary. CJ Wallis. Our future projects. Our short films. Acting. God. Robert Rodriguez. Carlos Gallardo. Jurassic Park. Cross Roads. Setting men on fire.
Get comfy and curl up with the FULL INTERVIEW right here.
And do yourselves a favor and check out the collective awesome that is Bleeding Cool.
Here's a word from their site creator and a little on how you can be part of the rad storm...
"Welcome to BleedingCool.com – the new blogsite written by Rich Johnston and friends. This site will not so much pull back the curtains of the comic book industry, as give you a series of upskirt shots. But as well as news, rumours and gossip, there will be reviews, previews, features, interviews, videos, columns and a place for comic book readers to call their own. Whatever your tastes from mini comics by Sean Appozardi to blockbuster events by Geoff Johns, from the Guardianista middle class commentary of Posy Simmonds to the righteous right hook of Chuck Dixon, from Rob Liefeld’s cankles to Robert Crumb’s thighs, from Frank Quitely’s OctoMumLips to Frank Cho’s shapely hips, you’re welcome here.
More than that, I need you. I can’t be everywhere all the time. Hell, I’m stuck in the outskirts of London for a start. But, en masse, you can be. Keep your eyes and ears open. Point out any loose threads and I’ll start pulling.
Because everyone in comics knows something, whether found in the dark online, corners, overheard in a comic shop, shared over drinks at a comic convention or found in the dumpsters at 1700 Broadway, that other comic readers would love to know. And here is where you can share it all. Those that do will get points, kudos, and special credentials on the forum. And the knowledge of a job well done.
So please, be my Little Bleeders. Register for the forum, bookmark the site, start making a difference. This is our medium, let’s have some fun with it.
After all, isn’t that what comics are for?
Rich Johnston"

Good Day, Hooker!
You know, Robert Rodriguez has a lot to answer for. His Grindhouse films Planet Terror and Machete have inspired a new generation of independent film-makers wanting to turn their own twisted ideas into full-fledged features. Take Canadian director Jason Eisener for example. His Hobo With A Shotgun (didn’t the Daily Mail just love it?) is a carefully crafted homage to the action exploitation genre and boasts a standout performance from the one and only Rutger Hauer.
Then’s there’s the Soska sisters. Armed with their film-making bible, Rodriguez’s Rebel Without a Crew, the twins maxed out their credit cards to fund their own Grindhouse-inspired vision – Dead Hooker in a A Trunk.
-Pete's Peek
This is an excerpt from a fantastic article from Pete's Peek talking about tonight's DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK television premiere screening in the UK. Click here for the entire lovely article and tune in tonight to see this indie flick hit the small screen for the first time! Here is a little more motivation from Peter of Pete's Peek on Movie Talk --
Intentionally ridiculous, Dead Hooker is bloody good fun – but you have to suspend your belief from the outset. So don’t expect any logic – just sit back and enjoy one Hell of a ride.
The biggest, craziest, most humble, thank you to you reading this blog, you who heard about this flick and shared it with your friends, you who reviewed it, you who took the time to chat with us, you who become our dearest friends, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You made this possible with your support and by demanding that it be seen. Please tune in tonight!
This is the continuation of the big release. As promised, HOOKERS for everyone!

Dead Hooker in a Trunk Released Today in the UK and Australia!
Today is a huge day for us as Bounty Films releases DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK everywhere in the UK and Australia.
The DVD includes a Behind the Scenes Making of documentary, deleted scenes, directors and technical commentaries, and an interview on indie filmmaker with Carlos Gallardo.
Buy it now here and have a DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK of your very own!
"Do you remember the always fun classic movies, movies back when movies were cool, that involved a group of people, often friends, who are suddenly, and unwillingly, thrust into a dangerous situation, forced to either deal with what's landed on their proverbial laps, or face the consequences of their failure to act swiftly? These sort of films have always been a favorite of mine and Dead Hooker In A Trunk has brought back those kind of movies that have meant so much to me throughout my life as a fan of the cinema."-Scott Ruth, D'ment'd Cinema
There are few words to describe accurately the swelling of pride and humble gratitude that this film stirs in us. Firstly, the team who came together to make the film without ever wanting anything in return than to make a great project. There would be no film without your tireless dedication and creative drive - you gave us the best experience of our lives in the creation of this film and the film itself is proof of the immeasurable talent that exists in the Canadian film community.
Dawn Duffy, John Tench, Tasha Moth, Stacy Mitchell, John Seed
Raymond Chan, Mary Ann Van Graven
CJ Wallis
“Watching Dead Hooker in a Trunk is like having the best bare backing sex of your life while hopped up on junk with a fugly prostitute in a seedy motel room on the wrong side of town.”
– TWITCH Film
"Every once in awhile a film comes out of left field that is such a innovation in film making that within moments of starting it you just know that you are witnessing something important that will one day become a cult classic that other aspiring film makers will look to for inspiration. This is exactly the sort of film Dead Hooker in a Trunk is and the twisted twins Jen and Sylvia Soska are destined to become a part of the next generation of iconic horror writers and directors." - Ted Brown, Bloody Disgusting
This wouldn't be happening without the wonderful teams at Industry Works and Bounty Films who believed in this project and loved it for everything it is - complete insanity and a love letter to the grindhouse indie spirit of filmmaking. Evan, Kathryn, Hannah, Cathee, and Tom - you put faith in us, you worked your asses off to get the film out there, and now you are giving us the opportunity to continue creating with AMERICAN MARY. It never feels like work when collaborating with the professionals at Industry Works - you are our extended family and we love you. Ben Hellwig, I can't wait to meet you in person, sir. You are a fucking rockstar of awesome. Steve Hill, thank you for orchestrating the press to let people know about us and the film - you have been brilliant. Thank you to the entire team at Bounty Films who have done a remarkable job getting DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK out there for the public. Jen and I will never forget this day.
"Sometimes the truly creative hand us a movie whose title packs as much punch as the movie itself, luring us in and giving us not only what title promises, but more coolness to spare. Hot Tub Time Machine, Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Natural Born Killers spring to mind. In 2009 Jen and Sylvia Soska- two Vancouver film school drop-outs- wrote, produced, directed and acted in their own hometown horror-comedy, Dead Hooker in a Trunk, and the fruit of their labors is every bit one of those aforementioned pictures.
They delivered on the title, albeit without the putrefaction we so loved from the dead hooker in the mattress in Robert Rodriguez's "Misbehavers" short (from the anthology Four Rooms), and they yielded a 92-minute hodge-podge of heightened gore, deadpan gags and solid, admirably rough-and-tumble female leads with lines like, 'You think dying's gonna kill me?'" - Bob Freville, Kotori Magazine
Last February, DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK had its first screening at the Ghouls on Film Festival in Birmingham, UK thanks to Nia Edwards-Behi. The UK love didn't stop there as we were invited back to the Abertoir Film Festival - thank you kindly to Gareth 'Gaz' Bailey for the honor - and then the Jennifer's Bodies Film Festival - thank you to the wonderful Jennifer Cooper who we completely adore. Even the fabulous Grimm Up North Film Festival showed a little HOOKER to their audiences. This isn't a usual story - none of this would have happened had people not banded together to support our work and the film.
This is just as much a special day for the horror community that demanded that the film get out there and be seen as it is for us. There is nothing that a group of dedicated people cannot do. You made this release happen. We promise to keep working hard to make work that is twisted and enjoyable for many years to come - each project a thank you to the people who made our greatest ambitions come true.
Please enjoy the film, let us know what you think. We are working away on the new film, AMERICAN MARY, which we can't hardly wait to share with you.
As for the rest of the world release news for DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK - we have something very special in store to reveal very shortly.
Thank you most kindly, girls and boys.

Sculpting Fragments Review Their Dead Hooker In A Trunk
We've had the esteemed honor and pleasure of our DEAD HOOKER is some incredible hands and recently we were absolutely delighted to deliver our girl to Guy Pearce, of Sculpting Fragments. His review is brilliant, plain and simply. The man has a real appreciation for horror, great insight, and a beautiful way with words. It is pretty f'n awesome to be able to hear him speak about the film as opposed to giving merely a written review. It gives his reviews a real life of their own and it's incredible.
You should also check out their wicked awesome blog, SICK TWISTED FUCKS. Yes, that IS the official title, thank you very much.
With the digital age more than upon us, Guy's innovative method of connecting with us in the horror community is the Sculpting Fragments Youtube channel, where he reviews some truly cutting edge tidbits of horror. Do check out his videos.
