He knows my name!
My life verse: "I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the Lord, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel." (Isaiah 45:3). For me, "the treasures of darkness" has been the medically-treated depression that I have suffered off and on with for years. More than anything else in my life, I think this has made me realize how much my Savior loves me and has deepened my relationship with God. The "hidden riches of secret places" are my wonderful family and this fabulous craft--tatting! I thank God for both!
I think it is awesome that God knows my name! Did you know that He knows yours?

Tutorials for the Celtic Knotted Picot
Here are the two tutorials I put together while
working on my pattern,
Their Five Year Mission.
(Posted 3/14/15)
The Celtic Knotted Picot was created by Bina Madden and is taught here: http://paradisetreasures.com/ckp.html I was very grateful to be one of her students one year when she taught at the Finger Lakes Tatting Conference as she shared her technique.

Their Five Year Mission
As I tried to think of ways to teach the techniques in the edging pattern I will be teaching at Finger Lakes in April, this little pattern emerged! Georgia Seitz is introduced it in the online Tatting Class today (Monday, 3/14/16).
One of the techniques used in my edging and this pattern is the Celtic Knotted Picot, created by Bina Madden. It is taught here: http://paradisetreasures.com/ckp.html I have put together two photographic tutorials--one on Measuring a Celtic Knotted Picot and the other on Adding Multiple Celtic Knotted Picots in a Single Ring. They will be available in the next blog post. In the following post, I will have a tutorial on the Catherine Wheel Join.

Reusable Ribbon Tutorial
Not quite tatting related but...
Many years ago there was a show on TV called “THE HOME SHOW.” They had great craft ideas! I saw this “Reusable Ribbon Bow” on that show. I made many, many of these bows out of adding machine tape for big, beautiful, bows to put on the end of church pews for several weddings. Later I made quite a few of these to use on packages within our family.

Recently in a conversation with a friend, I remembered these
bows and promised to show her one.
Wouldn’t you know it!! I could not find a single one of them! (I think “the Borrowers must have taken them—anyone
remember those books?) Well, I sat down
and “tinkered” with some ribbon and came up with a workable ribbon bow….now
time to replenish my supply! To get a printable pdf of this tutorial CLICK HERE
Reusable
Ribbon—Tutorial
By Patricia Cobb
10 feet of cloth ribbon ¾ inch wide (I bought a 5 yard roll
for $3.99 at Hobby Lobby)
Stapler and staples
Fishing Line or strong cord
2 pieces of Cardboard (or something similar) for both ends
of fishing line.
Fraycheck
1. Fraycheck the ends of your ribbon. Fold the cloth ribbon in half. “Anchor” one end of the fishing line with a small piece of cardboard. (I wrapped mine several times around a (¾ x ¼ inch) piece of cardboard, and then stapled it.
2. Staple this piece of cardboard inside the ribbon (staple is parallel to the fold) ¾ of an inch from the fold.
3. Place the remaining staples – alternating diagonal directions… ( / , \ , / , \ and so on… ). Make sure you catch the fishing line inside each of the staples!
5. Place 4 staples 3 inches apart.
8. Anchor the last end of the fishing line on a piece of cardboard large enough that you can wind the fishing line up on it.
Work your way towards the middle
|
When the ribbon is formed, wind fishing line up on cardboard. Tape piece of loose end “anchor” cardboard onto package.
Remove from package.
Remove tape. Unwind thread and
pull ribbon out flat. The ribbon may be
stored folded or flat.

Heart Bookmarks
The first project for my little bunny shuttles was to work up some heart bookmarks. These heart bookmarks are an old "standby" pattern for me. I stockpile them, made out of DMC size 5, color # 321. That used to be relatively easy--however, our Hobby Lobby has quit carrying DMC size 5. Now I get it from a little needlework shop in Arkansas. This is via correspondence with my Aunt, who goes down and buys the floss, and then mails it to me in Oklahoma. Why do I stockpile them? Well, the bookmarks -- along with a copy of Quiet Times for Couples by H. Norman Wright is my husband I's traditional wedding gift. This is the book that he (my husband is a pastor) recommends when he does pre-marriage and marriage counseling. My husband and I actually use it ourselves in our quiet time every few years. It is wonderful! *Not this year, this year we are using the One Year Christian History A Daily Glimpse Into God's Powerful Work by E. Michael and Sharon Rusten. WOW! History lessons galore! What a look at the "foundations" of our faith--and how far we have slipped! Gripping stories of early Christian martyrdom -- I recommend this book just for the information held within its pages--even if you forget the "devotional" part of the book!
Oh this is a TATTING BLOG!! I first discovered these bookmarks as part of the beginners online tatting class http://www.georgiaseitz.com/newtat/index.htm However, the bookmarks are available online here http://www.ringoftatters.org.uk/seasonal/valentine/rpheart.html I was able to finish three of the little bookmarks quickly--only two are in the picture. Several years ago, God blessed me with a "scratch and dent" sale at Nordic Needle, and I got the one and only, Lacis Battery Powered 4-Ply Cord Maker and Fringe Twister for something like 40% off because the box was smashed! Everytime I use it, I have to figure the thing out again...one of these times, I'm going to take pictures and make myself a tutorial--because it makes the prettiest little cord! Anyway.... three hearts, three cords, now down to the tassels! I make-- to "toot my own horn" great tassels!"
Now, I may or may not, make a great tutorial... but a little while back I put together a little PDF tutorial on "How to Make a Tassel" a) the PDF copies are free b) I want criticism--stuff I need to fix and how to fix it! c) Please do not give them away or sell the tutorials.
