The Suicide Girls Do It Up Horror Style
With all due respect to the amazing Living Dead Girlz, they don't have the market completely cornered when it comes to horror-themed hotness. No, the SuicideGirls are no slouches in that department, either.
A "nationwide art sleaze phenomenon" according to the L.A. Times, SuicideGirls is actually an online community devoted to celebrating alternative ideals of beauty, and alternative cultures from around the world. Recently, men's lifestyle website Asylum.com assembled some of the finest SG has to offer for a special horror-themed photo shoot, inspired by the 30th annual Fangoria Weekend of Horrors in NYC.
Here's just a taste of the resultant goodness:

Fangoria Visits the Set of Friday the 13th
Specifically, it was the indoor Camp Crystal Lake set in Austin, Texas. Carlson reports that those in charge of the project are very respectiful to the original franchise (what else are they going to say?), and offers this interesting bit from producer Brad Fuller:
"We’re not going back to the original, but we’re using pieces from it. And we’re not disregarding the rest of the series, so fans will see moments from parts three, four and five. And then we’re trying to do some stuff that hasn’t been done before. At a certain level, this franchise started in a certain place and went off in another direction, and we wanted to go back where we thought it was the strongest—the first four movies—more or less use that as our template and go from there."
Fango's report also features comments from the film's stars, including Derek Mears (The Hills Have Eyes II), who is donning the hockey mask this time around. Read more here.

Mel Brooks Talks to Fangoria
Brooks touches on a variety of topics, including his zombie-loving son Max (author of World War Z), how Gene Hackman came to play the blind man in Young Frankenstein, and why there will never be a film adaptation of the new YF Broadway musical (whew!).
He does go on a bit about that new ho-hum production, which I presume he was there to promote. But if you can get through that, it's worth a look. Fango promises to post the remainder of the transcript soon.

Halloween for Christmas
It may be the perfect stocking stuffer for the gore fan in your life. Granted, audience opinion was divided on the Rob Zombie remake of Halloween, but even those who disliked it might be curious to see this special director's cut once it hits DVD December 18.
Fangoria is reporting that the 2-disc set will feature 11 minutes of footage not seen in theaters, as well as an alternate ending. There's also a making-of doc and Zombie commentary, plus other goodies. Enjoy the newly unveiled cover art to the right, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting. It will retail for $29.95.
