Jack Davey is pretty widely known as the fashion-forward, genre-blending frontwoman of "Hip-Hop" group J*Davey , but now she's decided to branch out on her own... forging a solo career as a slightly more Rock "N" Roll -tinged sultry Funk-Soul songstress. Fresh off the heels of their long-awaited and [finally] self-released proper album, New Designer Drug and following the birth of her new-born son, Davey is readying her solo debut in 2 distinct parts; ILLAV8R is planning to liberate L0-F! Side A on Oct. 2nd, which Jack Davey simply describes as "a girl, her shitty guitar, and introspective songwriting." It's follow-up, Side B will see a Nov. 6th release, feature more instrumentation/advanced guitar techniques, and was produced by Joey Strat of The Knux . L0-F! Not long after the initial onslaught of 2012, essentially during the first minutes of this New Year ... my email inbox was graced with a message from one "Thomas Defferson" @ ILLAV8R . Labeled, "HAPPY NEW ∂eƒ Sound!! "A Song Called Anything" featuring Alex Isley " said email contained a BRAND NEW mp3 track from eclectic artist, Def Sound. One of my [early] favorite lyrical fragments from the track alternatively stylized and accented as "▲.song.called.åny†hing." has to be "If plan A fails - 25 letters left." Produced-recorded by equally eclectic artists, ®C & Brook D'Leau , "anything" really is a pretty solid blend of genres: Rock, Hip-Hop , Funk-Soul, Jazz , Dance, R&B, Electronic . Def Sounds. Who is J*DaVeY , you might ask? Genre-blending Los Angeles -based duo made up of Jack Davey (female) and Brook D'Leau (male). Eventhough they've been fairly active on the music scene since 2007, J*DaVeY are just now prepping the wide release of their debut album: New Designer Drug .
