"My music is described as beautiful, horrible, hogwash, genius, maundering, precise, quaint, Avant-Garde , historical, hackneyed, masterful, trivial, intense, mystical, virtuosic, gnarly, absorbing, concise, absurd, amusing, eerie, innovative, nostalgic, gruesome, contemporary, sophisticated, trash, and masterpiece," Rabbi Max cryptically writes on his Bandcamp page. Just this past Friday, June 1st, Rabbi Max unleashed his second proper full-length, TRA...

Flying Lotus Shares Thundercat, Brendon Small & Miguel Atwood-Ferguson-assisted "You and Your Friends Are Dead" & "North Star3" from You're Dead! Sessions (THUNDERDETH LOTUS?!!!??!)

It appears as though BRAINFEEDER founder, Los Angeles multi-instrumentalist, Experimental Hip-Hop producer, DJ, villainous rapper, and film-maker Steven Ellison AKA Flying Lotus AKA Captain Murphy AKA Kuso director steve. has been doing an Ideas+drafts+loops -style purge of his old hard drives recently; Ellison has upload a staggering seven previously unreleased tracks to his Flyinglotus Soundcloud page just this past week! FlyLo first uploaded a remix of Angelo Badalamentii 's iconic "Twin Peaks Theme" and Queen -sampling "Night Grows Pale" this past Tuesday, May 16th. Then, came a whopping five tracks just one day later: Captain Murphy -helmed "Crowned," Miguel Atwood-Ferguson -assisted "LoveTrue Opening" and "LoveTrue Opening Alt1" from Alma Har'el 's 2016 Netflix film of the same name, and two mysterious left-overs from You're Dead! (2014) credited to THUNDERDETH LOTUS ... DETHKLOK -hashtagged ...

The Men Frontman Mark Perro Talks 2014's Tomorrow's Hits, J Dilla's Donuts, Brainfeeder & Their Forthcoming Fireball of a Hardcore Punk Album, Devil Music (The Witzard Interview)

"Today, we announce our forthcoming full-length record, Devil Music, on our very own We Are The Men Records. The LP will be available on Friday, November 11, 2016. We found a [farm] and scratched down the songs on this LP after just a couple of days in our practice space. Luckily, our space and our studio are the same exact f**king room!, so the proceedings went quickly. “Gun” was [cut on] Friday after our shifts and some messing around with a Harry Nilsson tune. The rest were recorded on Saturday and Sunday, the holy days. You haven’t heard much from us lately, have you? It’s good to be alive and playing music," read a typewritten statement, addressed to "Everyone," published to The Men's Blogspot-run band site Monday, September 12th. It's an odd coincidence, since I was just listening to their infectious Creedance, Bob Dylan, and Rolling Stones-influenced 2014 album, Tomorrow's Hits on my Nexus 7 recently at work and wondering when the next, normally...

Jay Z's Magna Carta... Holy Grail Collaborator Sumach "Gonjasufi" Valentine Re-emerges with "Maniac Depressant" & "Surfinfinity" from Forthcoming CALLUS (Warp Records)

"GOING INTO THE SPACE... I GIVE SO MUCH OF MY HEART... OPENING MYSELF UP TO THE WORLD... AS MY SOUL BECOMES PUBLIC DOMAIN, [WHICH IS] A BEAUTIFUL THING... BUT WITH THAT ALSO COMES [YOU KNOW] HATRED [AND SH*T]... I'VE HAD TO GROW THIS CALLUS [AROUND MYSELF] TO PROTECT MY HEART," vocalist, producer, DJ, and yoga teacher Sumach "Gonjasufi" Valentine warbled within a crackly, baren Warp Records message dubbed Callus (Introduction) , which additionally included a fragment of his as-yet-unreleased song, "Surfinfinity." For those who may be largely unfamiliar, Sumach 's biggest claim to fame would likely be working alongside Jay Z and producer Kyambo "Hip Hop" Joshu on his genre-eschewing Magna Carta... Holy Grail (which samples "Nikels and Dimes" ) and was once described by Pitchfork Senior Editor Ryan Dombal as "a scraggly, scary, smoked-out croak that creeps like the spiritual offspring of George Clinton and Leadbe...

King Cozmic's Ethereal Playground: Mr. Muthaf*ckin' eXquire - "Butt Naked Baby Cupid" (Universal?)

Following June's fairly long-awaited return to form and more or less, an artistic re-birth, Kismet , Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire randomly unveiled 2 new tracks late Wednesday-Thursday night; "Butt Naked Baby Cupid" and "A Sun's Calypso" are supposedly from eXquire 's forthcoming project, King Cozmic's Ethereal Playground . So far, it sounds like his mixtape'll be a stylistic hybrid of Mr. MFN eXquire 's new-found Psych-Rap sound and those 90's Hardcore reminiscent rhymes... almost effortlessly rocking over a beat swiped from Brainfeeder Jazzman Thundercat and frequent collaborator, Bowery Beats . Accented by a brief buttery-smooth Thundercat intro, eXquire ferociously raps, "I suck at love songs, but still write some / Just last night we Skyped all night long / Took a screenshot of your dummy-ass smile / Set it as my wallpaper... in love. I'm in denial. Lost in your Ora . We got it figured out. But nigga, baby cupid...

Flying Lotus & Thundercat - "Aqua TV Show Show Theme" (Williams Street Records?)

It's been an ongoing quasi-real joke ever since season 8 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2011) to seemingly change the series' overall name withe each impending new season: Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 , Aqua Something You Know Whatever, and now Aqua TV Show Show ha. Replacing the show's original, long-standing Schoolly D-penned title sequence, Brainfeeder buddies Flying Lotus & Thundercat have teamed up to produce a Jazz -infused 45-second "Aqua TV Show Show Theme." @flyinglotus recently Tweeted, " Frylock lookin' like @GASLAMPKILLER in the intro... [and that] The ending credits music is on some Silver Apples -isnpired shiieee." Thundercat 's actual role is widely unknown at this pint, but the infamous Suicidal Tendencies metal-head more than likely continued some scorchin' bass licks! The ATSS theme sequence is of course accompanied by a black-and-white 70's Soul-Funk -reminiscent animated clip; It stars Frylock, Master Shak...

Producers In 2012, Learn to Spread Love: Matthewdavid & The Mary Jane Girls? - FreEP (3)

A few things about Matthewdavid 's new EP are almost instantly alarming "right off the bat:" (1.) That call-to-arms of a title - Producers In 2012 Learn to Spread Love EP ! (2.) Submissive-looking Rick James flanked by 2 fucking 3-eyed tigers on the cover... vaguely reminiscent of a terribly AWESOME tattoo! (3.) The massive amount of "sound ground" that Matthewdavid somehow manages to cover over the course of 3 brief tracks: Soul , Dubstep, Chopped & Screwed , Hip-Hop, Pop, Dark R&B , etc. Matthewdavid's overall style is essentially an Ambient sort of Instrumental Hip-Hip , something largely popularized by guys like Clams Casino in recent years. Matthewdavid [McQueen]'s lengthy-titled EP comes on the heels of his Brainfeeder debut, Outmind (Feb. 2012) which was released in conjunction with his own label imprint, Leaving Records . They successfully self-released Matthewdavid 's most recent project, a mixtape called Jewelry EP ; It ...

Gonjasufi Recruits Blu & Mainframe for 9thinningEP

Gonjasufi is a true "gypsy" in all senses of the word - A yoga instructor by day, rapper by night. He has been actively involved in the music industry in various facets for an un-disclosed period of time. Prior to releasing A Sufi and A Killer (2010), Gonjasufi somehow managed to quietly assemble and circulate a limited number of mix CD's. Released under his government name Sumach [Ecks-Valentine] , 4 hand-made CD-R's were spread throughout the San Diego, CA area between 2002-07. Upon its release, A Sufi and A Killer was widely praised by critics and Indie Hip-Hop fans alike; Due in part to its unique mix of Hip-Hop, Middle Eastern stylings, and 60's era Psych/Acid Rock ... all the while, skillfully blended with Gonjasufi 's signature chant-like vocal touches. The bulk of the record was produced by The Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus , and Mainframe under Ecks-Valentine's own artistic direction. Contrary to popular belief, Gonjasufi has been far fr...
