Brycon & G-PEK Present: There's No More Room In Hell 7 Digital & Cassette Release (Gurp City Digital, I Had An Accident & Star Bakery Records)

Spooky Season is upon up and you know what that means... it's time for another installment of Brycon & G-PEK's annual There's No More Room In Hell (TNMRIH) mixtape series. There's No More Room In Hell tapes have dropped every year since 2015 leading up to Halloween. Unfortunately, this will be the seventh and final installment of TNMRIH. We've been listening to these tapes for quite a few years now and have gotten to personally know some of the players; they're, seriously, some of the most gifted inventive producers, emcees, and artists we've ever encountered! For TNMRIH 7, Gurp City beat goblins Brycon & G-PEK are joined by frequent contributors Yelir, DJ Eons One, B.I. Lectric, Argonaut, BeatsMe, and guest emcee Luke Sick. There's No More Room In Hell 7 by Maitre D Plus, first-time participants Maitre D, Smooveez, Aagee, Otayo Dubb, Tahaj The First (The Regulars,) Chaz Emphatic, and Philo Reitzel. Brycon Unveils New Socially-conscious Beat Tape with Brutalism EP (Star Bakery Records/I Had An Accident)

Last month we told you about the latest installment of Brycon & G-Pek's There's No More Room In Hell (6) just in time for a last-minute addition to your Halloween-themed playlists. Now, less than a month later, Brycon has already returned with his next proper solo outing: Brutalism EP. It's being described as "a 7-song EP focused on city life and some of its associated hardships. Each track surveys and explores around these themes, but leaves the resolve in the listener's hands." More or less, a "beat tape" in most aspects of said term, Brutalism boasts slow mechanical drums, ethereal samples, hazy conga lines, and haunting voices, as well as an overarching conceptual theme. Not entirely unlike J Dilla, Madlib, or even Kanye West before him, Brycon fully employs the "producer/musician as feature" theory here and is, indeed, front and center through and through. Additionally, to help fully flesh out this ensemble-like EP, Brycon h...

Now, don't get us wrong, we LOVE it... but it's just too much music for a one-man operation,s uch as ourselves to cover in just one day. So, expect another Halloween-centric feature either this weekend or early next week right here on these pages of The Witzard. We've been covering Halloween-adjacent content here for the better part of the past two weeks. However, today, just in time for your Halloween Weekend festivities, we're back with a brand spankin' new feature on one of our favorite artists: Brycon. For those unaware, every year around this time Brycon and his fellow producer/DJ G-Pek recruit a bunch of their beat-minded friends and peers to partake in their annual There's No More Room In Hell Halloween beat tape series. There's No More Room In Hell 6 by Brycon, G-Pek, Eons On...

G-Pek & Brycon Recruit Yelir, B.I. Lectric, The Architect & Baghead for Annual "There's No More Room In Hell 5" Halloween Mix (self-released)

G-Pek & Brycon have returned with the latest spook-tacular installment of their annual Halloween mix series, There's No More Room In Hell . This year, Brycon & G-Pek recruited producer buddies Yelir, B.I. Lectric, The Architect & Baghead to join in on the ghoulish festivities. G-Pek & Brycon Present: "There's No More Room In Hell" (1) was quietly released on October 30, 2015 and only featured the production talents of series founders G-Pek & Brycon . For 2016's "There's No More Room In Hell II," DJ Eons One AKA Dan Lactose from SPAZZ was brought into the fold; then, 2016's "There's No More Room In Hell Part 3" boasted contributions from G-Pek, Brycon & Eons , along with newly-added beatsmith Yelir . Last year's submission, "There's No More Room In Hell Part 4" featured G-Pek, Brycon, Eons One, Yelir , and new-comer, B.I. Lectric AKA Big Shawn from Bored Stiff . For There'...

ON TILT's QM, Luke Sick, VRSE Murphy & Richie Cunning Unveil "All Liquored Up" Video Just In Time for The Weekend (Megakut Records)

Drink Floyd by ON TILT ON TILT is a Bay Area -based Hip-Hop crew consisting of emcees QM (@QMRecLeague) & Luke Sick (@megakutrecords) and VRSE Murphy (@vrsemurphy) on beats and production work with Richie Cunning (@RichieCunning) supplying additional production and musical arrangements. I had heard of ON TILT over the last year or so, but hadn't really delved into their music FULL-TILT, until Damien Miller from I Had An Accident Records (IHAA) suggested I check out their recently-released second album, Drink Floyd . Honestly, I'm glad he did because ON TILT 's Drink Floyd is one Hell of a listen; stylistically, Drink Floyd falls somewhere in-between the Beastie Boys' raucous 1986 Frat-Rap debut Licensed to Ill and their sample-laden magnum opus/follow-up, Paul's Boutique (1989) with a dash of Mickey Avalon 's sleazy 2006 self-titled debut, as well as Action Bronson 's foul-mouthed grown man/child-like sense of wonder. Drink Floyd is the...

Long-time Collaborators Tenshun & Bonzo Speechless Join Forces for 40-minute ODIOUS Split Cassette (I Had An Accident Records)

I Had An Accident Records (IHAA) is a Spokane -based tape label we've grown particularly fond of in recent months, if you haven't yet already noticed. IHAA is owned and operated by one Damien Miller (@damienbtc74) - yes, that's in fact, the same "Damien" from Luke Sick & Damien 's phenomenal, yet incredibly too short EP, Strike The Clutch . First recommended to me by John "Jumbled" Bachman , I unfortunately, wasn't able to score one of Luke Sick & Damien 's extremely limited edition tapes, but Strike The Clutch was highlighted within The Witzard 's Rap EP Wrap-up this past March. Damien was actually, gifted the label from former I Had An Accident owner and founder Justin Bieler with his first "official" IHAA release being Mathias Kruse x Brenky 's Eustress / Wormhole from May 2016. I Had An Accident has released tapes and digital albums featuring the likes of Noise/Hip-Hop 's finest beat-makers, emce...

EQUIPTO & Brycon Present: The Watershed with Old Soul Kollective (Star Bakery/Solidarity/I Had An Accident Records & Gurp City Digital)

Equipto & Brycon Present The Watershed by The Watershed The Watershed are a San Francisco -based Hip-Hop crew consisting of emcees Equipto and Old Soul Kollective members MC Pauze & Professor Gabel , as well as producers Brycon , Old Soul Kollective beat-makers Baghead & Mcstravick , and emcee/producer Monk HTS . However, Monk HTS only contributed his emcees skills to Equipto & Brycon Present: The Watershed . The Watershed describes itself as a "multi-generational group" with a line-up consisting of both "vets and up-and-coming Frisco -bred talents (with one exception.)" I personally, heard about The Watershed just this past weekend from I Had An Accident Records (IHAA) label owner Damien Miller of Luke Sick & Damien fame; we were discussing one of IHAA 's upcoming releases— Rabbi Max 's TRANSATLANTIC tape—as well as The Watershed , along with Luke Sick & Damien 's Strike The Clutch EP and Bonzo Speechless & Da...
