Tenacious D & Friends Share "Time Warp" Cover In Lieu of Canceled The Purple Nurple Tour... Twisting Hard to The Left! (Kung Fu Nation)

Everyone's favorite Hard Rock/Comedy troupe Tenacious D have returned with a politically-minded cover of "Time Warp" from 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tenacious D is, of course, the brainchild of actor/part-time musician Jack Black and his like-minded guitar-wielding cohort Kyle Gass. Since initially forming way back in 1994, Tenacious D has released four full-length albums: Tenacious D (2001,) The Pick of Destiny (2006,) Rize of The Fenix (2012,) and mostly recently, Post-Apocalypto (2018) all with Dave Grohl behind the drumkit. Plus, the self-proclaimed "Greatest Band In The World" even released a feature-length film, Tenacious D In The Pick of Destiny, as well as an album companion Post-Apocalypto: The Graphic Novel AND an animated web-series. Earlier this year, Ten D effectively announced The Purple Nurple Tour... Twisting Hard to The Left! which would consist of 10 shows taking place in Swing States from 9/25-10/9. Although, once COV...

With The Quickness #9: Director of Animation Jim Jagger Curates Tony Hawk's Pro Skater-themed Spotify Playlist (THPS Edition)

Jim Jagger While Developing THPS4, Neversoft Woodland Hills Office in California (2002) "My name is Jim Jagger, and I am an Animation Director in the video game industry. After spending my first few years making games in The UK, I wrote to Neversoft, begging for an opportunity to work on the Tony Hawk's [Pro Skater] series. My love for the game began with "The Warehouse Demo" and by the time I had completed THPS2 I was desperate to be involved. By some fluke or miracle, I found myself in California, breathing life into my favourite game! Catching the tail-end of THPS3, I primarily worked on THPS4 and THUG [Tony Hawk's Underground]." "There can be only one place to start and that's with [Goldfinger's] "Pretending I'm A Superman." This song epitomised the game so much that my friend and former Neversoft colleague, Ralph D'Amato, used it as the title for his recent documentary of The Tony Hawk Series. With the help of direct...

Culturebox Presents: Sharp-tongued, Masked Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def Expertly Re-raps MADVILLAINY Era DOOM, Oh No & J Dilla Beats & Rhymes (BEYONDOOM "EP" Playlist)

"A great US Hip-Hop singer pays tribute to Daniel Dumile , better known as MF DOOM , an other[worldly] Hip-Hop artist, from the New York City underground scene. But who's behind the mask?" French Télévision network Culturebox wrote along with a series of seven cryptic YouTube videos quietly uploaded between December-February of last year. The mysterious masked wordsmith is eventually revealed to be Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def , who's likely the only person on planet Earth who can honestly say he's worked alongside Mark Wahlberg , Donald Sutherland, Jack Black , and MF DOOM. Culturebox 's BEYONDOOM EP-length playlist isn't exactly the first time Mos Def has expressed his fanboy-like admiration for DOOM ; a few years ago, he went as far as to "bet a million dollars on DOOM against Lil' Wayne " in a battle rap scenario, supposedly masqueraded as the Metal-Faced Villain after he cancelled a series of appearances initially billed as joint ...

Biz Markie & Wayne Coyne - "I Can't Believe It's Really Happening" (Volcom Fwends 2)

Biz Markie has gotta be one of the most awkward rappers male vocalists in the history of music. But with that said, "Just a Friend" quite easily ranks within my [imaginary] Top 50 favourite songs OF ALL TIME list! Markie recently logged a few recording sessions with fellow Psych-Rock weird-o, Wayne Coyne . Together, Biz & Wayne managed to conjure up "2012 (You Must Be Upgraded)" along with Ke$ha , which was the lead-off track from The Flaming Lips' semi-recent Record Store Day comp, Heady Fwends . Now, they've teamed up with skate clothing brand, Volcom to create a child-like Yo Gabba Gabba! -inspired T-shirt line for adults ha. Volcom then commissioned Markie & Coyne to self-design a bunch of signature T-shirts along with Dave Grohl , Jack Black, "Napoleon Dynamite," Mark Mothersbaugh , and their forward-thinking kids. "I Can't Believe It's Really Happening" is the second track to materialize from Biz Ma...
