Stitch Me Up a Spring Runner

Hello everyone and thank you so much for visiting me today as I take part in my very first blog hop.  So exciting!  It's the Stitch Me Up blog hop hosted by Mdm Samm, Sew We Quilt, and Jane, Jane's Fabrics.  Thank you both for putting together a fun hop and such a great source of inspiration.  Everyone's creations are just lovely.  You all are so very talented.

For this hop we were provided wonderful designs to choose from.  The designs were created by Cyndi from Stitch, Stitch, Stitch, and Debbie from Busy as can Be.  The sponsors are Colonial needle and Presencia Threads.  I chose to stitch Bee Tree Designs, Elements, it has such a vintage look to me. I  love vintage embroidered linens and display them around my home.  This sweet design provided the perfect opportunity to stitch a Spring runner for my Easter table.  I used a pastel palette of presencia finca size 12 perle cotton and colonial needles for all of my embroidery.

I love the simplicity of this design and the way it flows so I shaped the corners of my runner to enhance the look. The fabric is 100% linen backed with white Kona Cotton.

I made a generously sized runner so that I could place my table decorations on it without covering up or obscuring the embroidery.

We're ready for our breakfast tea!  What a fun Hop...Thanks Mdm Samm and Jane for allowing me to participate.

Now I'm going to hop on over to visit these lovely blogs, please join me.

Need a Litttle Sunshine

I'm so ready for Spring and warmer weather.  There have been many overcast days.  A little more sunshine to enjoy would be wonderful.  Let's see if I can brighten things up a bit.  How about a sweet cross stitch for the tea room.

Maybe start gathering my Easter table decorations.  Not quite sure which china I'll use but I am sure this bunny pitcher will be the center piece.

Some lemon cookies would be nice too!

Think I'll end the day with this little cutie.  She needs clothes.

Better get started knitting her dress:-)

Thanks for visiting.  Be sure to stop by on Thursday March 28th for my Stitch Me Up blog post.

Roses in my Room

When I decorate, I automatically include flowers..Do you do that?  I also gravitate toward the rose, second choice would be peony, and my third choice is the hydrangea.  I choose these as my "go to" flowers when decorating because these flowers tend to be the ones that are not only pretty when they're fresh, but also when created in silk.  They also dry beautifully.

I was enjoying a cup of tea one morning and as I looked around, I began to notice all the various forms of roses that I have in this one room.  I guess I never really thought about it before but I realize how key roses are to making this room feel the way that I want.  Pick up your cup of tea and take a stroll around the room with me.

A white ironstone vase filled with yellow roses sitting in a sunny window.

A grouping of containers with porcelain applique roses and summer flowers.

Stenciled roses on a vintage clock face.

Candlestick and tea tray mosaic roses.

A victorian tea-light candle holder with painted roses.

A decoupage rose clock and a few of my favorite needlework pieces.

Looking into the dining room, there's my favorite rose centerpiece.

I hope you're not on rose overload...I hope you enjoyed looking at all of the rosey loveliness.  When the weather is warm and the sun is shining, the rose bushes are just waiting to provide us with many beautiful blossoms to enjoy indoors and out.

Thanks for visiting me.  Until next time, have a joyful day.

Primitive Spring

The spruce up for Spring continues around here...I'm brightening up my family room.  If you've followed me for a while you know that this room is decorated in a slightly primitive style using the colours of the woodlands -- browns, blacks, and distressed patinas.  It's so easy to decorate this room in the Fall, not so much in springtime.  Never-the-less, I had to change things out so I began with my favorite area in the room, my old antique trunk.

I placed on top of it a few of my favorite things...Lace, old dried roses in a watering can, a little birdie, and my favorite prim clock.

I love embroidered linens and clothing, especially when the embroidery adorns a dress worn by my favorite prim doll.

She completes the look don't you think? This photo was taken in the evening, it looks a lot brighter when flooded with afternoon sunshine.  I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.  I have a few more things to change in this room and then it's on to the living room.

I'm glad you stopped by...Have a great week.
