Saturday encore ~ Down the trail with Lucy and the head-cam

The videos below appeared originally last August in a two-part series.
I've combined them here, just in case you want to kill 10 minutes of your Saturday morning.

***

I wore the head-cam on one of our rides this weekend and didn't shut up the entire time it was on. Drove Lucy nuts.
Anyway, we thought you might like to join us.

The pace picks up in part 2.

The leader of the pack

Sometimes when I've been chained to my desk all day and am in danger of not reaching
my FitBit activity goal, I find myself in the corral, walking laps until my wristband buzzes
to let me know I can go inside and watch TV with a clear conscience. While walking laps
might sound boring, it's not ... because a few of my friends usually join me.
I took this video last week, when muzzles were still on. I'd like to think that Lucy, George and Alan
came along because I am their leader and they will follow me anywhere, but it's more likely
that they just wanted me to take their muzzles off. Anyway, I propped the camera on my shoulder
and pointed it backwards so you could see the action.

Boo!

In a last-minute attempt to celebrate Halloween, I did the best I could.
The only costume I could find was a wooden mask that hangs in my kitchen.

Monday encore ~ Watermelon Time

What better way to mark the beginning of summer than with a little watermelon.

Saturday encore ~ Lucy helps bring in the herd

I stumbled across this video in the March 2011 archives, a few months after Lucy came into my life.
It still makes me smile.

******

Lucy and I brought in the herd yesterday. Well, not exactly.
But we did push two cows down the road, and it seemed like a good title for this little video.

Breakfast of Champions

Last week I mentioned that one of the reasons why I had become attached to Johnny Cash Cat
was that he feeds the chickens breakfast every morning.
I wasn't going to illustrate my point, but since some of you asked...

How do I know about Johnny's hunting and the hens' gathering?
I've been using the sunroom as a sleeping porch lately because it's been so stinkin' hot.

Let's just say I hear things. It's kind of creepy, but I'm getting used to Johnny's nightly ritual.

The routine has become so predictable that I knew if I took the camera to bed,
I'd be able to capture the carnage without even rolling over.

When I built the room with a view, this isn't what I had in mind.

I've blurred the worst part of this photo – trust me.

Still images don't do justice to the enthusiasm with which the hens start their day,
knowing that Johnny has been busy all night preparing their breakfast. Herewith is the video version.

(The music is "The Hen's March to the Midden" by The Dubliners.)

Smooch's obsession...caught on tape

Smooch's obsession began Saturday night. She smelled something on the other side of the fence
and began to dig and dig and dig some more. I feared she would dig her way out of the yard,
so I picked her up and carried her into the house, thinking she would forget about it by the next morning.

She did not.

The next morning, I barricaded both sides of the fence with rocks and the heaviest logs in the wood pile,
hoping she would give up the pursuit of whatever had possessed her.

She did not.

We join our story in progress as I finally got out the video camera.

It took another day for Smooch to stop waiting, but she finally has forgotten about whatever crawled up the downspout.
The logs and rocks remain in place for the next time.

Saturday encore ~ Christmas caroling with a Sock Monkey

I made this video last year at Christmastime, and it is by far the funniest thing that has ever come out of my camera.
If you're in need of a gut-busting laugh today, this might do the trick.

***

We have my sister to thank blame for this one. She sent me a Sock Monkey. That sings Jingle Bells. Sort of. Squeeze his left hand and he breaks into song and wiggles around and makes me laugh so hard I can hardly stand it. Of course I had to introduce him to the whole herd. Here's what happened.
