     Vice-Admiral Mark John Currie was born on 21 June 1795.1 He was the son of Mark Currie and Elizabeth Close.2 He married Jane Wood, daughter of Charles Boynton Wood, on 14 January 1829.1 He died on 2 May 1874 at age 78.1
     He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in the Royal Navy.1
