Thanks Mikayla. I have so much to learn and sooooo much balance etc to work on but I love every minute of it. I'm thrilled that I was able to develope a good relationship with my horse. The ground work has been easist for me but willing and able to keep working on the riding stuff....slow but progressive.
Right now I am concentrating mostly on getting Cash desensitized for trail riding. He's fine with an experienced rider but it's harder when we are both green. I've had first hand experience that green on green can and does make black and blue. I'm a big believer in baby-steps and pushing yourself a little each day.
I really enjoy horses! Wild, western, english, dressage, tricks, trails, hacking, grazing, sleeping They are so naturally beautiful and athletic.
Cash's color is like a copper penny. He gets that from his buckskin daddy. His mom was a bay.
Happy Trails thru Life, It is a Grand Voyage!!!!

Nope, not my first ride nor my first horse. But I did start all over after 30 years of not riding. And as a teen (16) the horse I bought for myself then was challenging for me and I had no help so never learned how to ride properly. But I stayed on and we had lots of fun playing around.
I bought the guy in the picture when he was barely 3. He was trained to show & this is 'my' progress as of 4 years ago. A good rider can get him all collected and it's beautiful for me to see. Gives me a goal.
But I prefer to ride loose rein most of the time.
I may never have the casual comfort you seem to have in some of your photos.
Keep horsen around! It's challenging to go back after 30 sum years of walking on your own two feet instead of their four. Especially with the spirit of a 3 year old without the mind of a been there, done that horse. Sitting his spooks can be thrilling...falling off his spooks are thrill at the least. But, I keep getting back on, even if sore and bruised with a broken helmet.
His name is Cash, "He's Casually Dun"....we joke about him being the only Cash we have left. Worth every penny.
