Mary Wilson

[SOUL] When Florence Ballard and Diana Ross up and left, Mary Wilson stayed, sticking with the Supremes until 1977. According to the story, Wilson turned down the opportunity to replace Ross as the trio’s lead when she left to launch her solo career in 1970, and surely she had good reasons. Her 1986 biography, Dreamgirl: My Life As a Supreme remains one of the best -elling contemporary music memoirs of all time (and is sometimes jokingly referred to as “Diana Dearest” for the less-than-flattering light in which it portrays the supreme Supreme). Now 72, Wilson has released a second book that chronicles her life after the group’s most successful run and, most recently, scored some success on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart with last fall’s “Time to Move On.” Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a Motown Legend when Mary Wilson graces the intimate Bear’s Den at Seneca Niagara Casino with two shows, 7pm and 10:30pm. (Tickets for the 10:30pm performance include a champagne toast).
