where spoken word lives on the webWelcome! Since 1999, the Book of Voices has featured emerging writers and well-known poets, as they've told their own stories and poetry for millions of auditions. e-poets.net is a pioneer online literature venue for Chicago, where the city's spoken word tradition has been seen and heard long before elsewhere in the local community. We feature many original poetry recordings heard nowhere else. Listen, and enjoy! Today, the Book of Voices proudly includes the the Woman Made Gallery poetry archive. This series of recordings starts with readings in 2009, and continues today as a volunteer collaboration between Woman Made Gallery and e-poets.network. Looking for further poetry, local literary culture, or story-telling? Click into the Incomplete History of Slam, one of the very first chronicles of slam poetry's emergence, often told first-hand. Or browse the e-poets library. Or view the Videotheque, to see how poetry accesses experimental film, and watch documentation videos of selected live readings.
