¿En hoe is het nu om in Santiago te wonen?
Tja, dat is na 3 weken nog moeilijk te zeggen
Mijn eerste indruk is erg positief: het regent hier weinig, het leven is modern en
bijna alles is hier verkrijgbaar.
¿Do you like living in Santiago?
Well, that's hard to say after only 3 weeks, but my first impressions are positive!
It hardly rains here, it is modern and many thing are available
Vrienden maken doe je niet zo 1-2-3, daarvoor moet je er op uit
Al snel vond ik op internet een internationale quiltgroep en daar ben ik eens gaan kijken
Een leuke groep vrouwen, overal vandaan, en de meesten schoven aan voor een sampler-les
de rest ging gezellig koffie drinken
Making friends doesn't happen overnight, it's something you have to work on.
On the internet I found an international quilting group and had a look there. It is a nice group of ladies from all around the world, and most of them came for a quilt lesson while some just came for the coffee and a chat
Een van de dames vertelde over een atelier waar les gegeven wordt in stofverven en vilten (in het Spaans). Daar ben ik dus ook op afgegaan en dat was superleuk!
On of the ladies told about a workshop fabric painting and this week I went to check this out
In een werkplaats naast de fabriek van Montblanc, waar textielverf gemaakt wordt, werd een workshop verven met indigo en dried cochenilleluis (karmijnzuur) gegeven.
In a studio next to the textile paint factory of Montblanc a workshop was held in painting with
Indigo and dried Cochenille lice (carmine red)

Een pan met water en gedroogde cochenilleluizen, het water kleurt langzaam rood

Na gebruik van verschillende fixeerstoffen ontstonden er verschillende schakeringen van rood
After using different types of fixtures, different shades of red came out
de onderste gele kleur is geverfd met pure kurkuma, met een prachtige warme kleur als resultaat
de 2de kleur is kurkuma met cochenille en daarboven cochenille met verschillende toevoegingen.
The colour at the bottom is pure turmeric,the 2nd row is turmeric with cochenille
and all the others above cochenille with different types of fixtures
Er worden hier nog veel meer workshops gegeven en
ik heb me al opgegeven voor 2 verschillende viltworkshops
