I can only assume that "Night Creatures" was inspired by Anne Rice's vampire stories, as her Lestat de Lioncourt became a rock star who was a 'pretend' stage vampire in one of her novels....and this episode of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" is about a real vampire posing as a rock star who is pretending to be a vampire. So much for originality! In fact, they had a lot of nerve considering "The Vampire Lestat" came out only four years before this episode.
A reporter and her photographer assistant are out to get an interview with a rock star who poses as a vampire. Holly wants an exclusive interview with Martin Lecross, the rock star. Almost immediately, he begins using his vampirey skills on her but he's interrupted before he can drain her of her blood. Could this have saved her...or is Holly going to be turned into this creepy dude's next girlfriend?
Aside from being very unoriginal, is the episode any good? Not really...especially since much of the ending seemed a bit obvious and it was obvious they were considering making this a backdoor pilot episode...and I can't help but think if this had happened that there might have been some real legal problems for the network for plagiarism.
